  1. I am a huge fan of video games, I play them a ton, my dad says I need to cut back a lot on how much time I spend playing video games, and I've been trying. Funny thing is my dad plays video games more than I do. There was a mmorpg called City of Heroes I used to play, I showed it to my dad and he really liked the game. Eventually he bought his own copy, and me and him both played it a ton. My dad got two characters at higher levels than the one guy I played as, and he ended up really getting sucked into the game. He could seperate reality from fantasy and everything just fine, but he didn't do anything but wake up, eat, and play that game for a month. Really, didn't have a job or anything. I was suprised that he managed to be more addicted to a video game than I was (considering I was usually labeled the game fanatic of the family) and everyone was mad at me for showing him the game. Eventually my dad snapped out of it, and he began playing the game less. I eventually stopped playing because my computer broke, and after a long while he finally stopped playing the game all together. I still go to the website though from time to time to check up on the updates for it, it was a VERY fun game and though it didn't consume EVERY moment of my life, a great deal of my free time involved that game. I would like to think me and my dad learned a great lesson from this experience, but not really. I haven't played an mmorpg since because my new computer (my dad's VERY old laptop) can't play them, but I'm still looking for a good online game to play with all my friends for a few hours every weekend (which I'm sure will quickly turn into several hours a day if I'm not careful). My dad hasn't gone back to City of Heroes or any other mmorpg, but he still gets swamped into a video game. Now he plays Starcraft non-stop during any free time he gets, and before that it was Dragons Age origins, and before that Demon's Souls...We both like to play RPGs, and I have to admit that if my dad wasn't playing those games all the time, I would probably end up doing that myself. Games are fun, but it is VERY easy to be addicted to them. I really also need to make shorter messages, but at 3:30 in the morning, I'm not going to try to edit this...
  2. I actually play video games a lot, I mean a LOT my family is full of major video game players, with maybe 5 people I know well who don't play them a lot. I think video games are ok, I mainly play mario, legend of zelda, stuff like that, but I've also played games like Demon's Souls and Dragons Age Origins for the PS3. I've even played through most (if not all) of the campaigns of the three halo games, and two Grand Theft Auto games (can't remember which ones) these are just off the top of my head, I've actually played tons of videogames and used to spend almost all of my free time infront of a screen mashing buttons... Anyway I think I'm getting of track here...Gotta remember my point... Generally I don't think video games are bad, playing a fun game with friends, or enjoying a good story of a medieval fantasy rpg, seems fine. The problem is with Grand Theft Auto games and stuff like that. If a game allows you to hang out with friends or enjoy a great story, or just provides a fun challenge, that's good, if it inspires thoughts of violence, killing, or something obviously bad, then you shouldn't play it. The problem is most games are leaning more towards killing and sex and stuff. Dragons Age Origins has a lot of stuff that made me feel uncomfortable, they didn't show any nudity but they come REALLY close at points. The problem is that though I didn't want to play it because of the parts that made me uncomfortable, the storyline kept me playing for quite a while, it wasn't until I saw my dad kill the boss and see the ending for his character that I managed to stop wanting to play the game so much... ANYWAY, point is that you need to be careful playing video games, and avoid ones that show inappropriate(spelling?) content or that inspire anger. Because of this I usually stick to Nintendo games, but even some of those can be bad too. I don't think videogames should be completely banned or anything though, and one day I hope to become a game programmer. My friends and I have even made a goal of one day making our own awesome videogame that would be safe for children to play, but still totally awesome. anyway, guess I'm done with my rant, let me know if I should edit some stuff out, feel like I typed to much, but I do this a lot sometimes...
  3. I have Asperger's Syndrome and was diagnosed when I was young, (parents thought I had ADD for a while though) I am 18 now, so still am young I guess...I've never dated or had all that many friends, I have a few cousins I hang out with and one awesome friend who I've known since like 4th grade. I'm a little nervous talking to people, and REALLY nervous talking to large groups of people (projects in school are nightmares for me) I don't really think a whole lot about it all though as far as dating and having friends...I dunno what else to say for now, but yeah...
  4. Hey thanks everyone! Trying to start a topic in the book club forum thing but not getting any luck, hopefully things will pick up a bit soon and/or I'll find a different thread to talk in. Have a great week everyone!
  5. Hey has anyone ever read Everlost by Neal Shusterman? He also wrote Unwind and Everwild, which is the sequel to Everlost...Anyway, just let me know if you've seen it or want to know more about it or whatever...
  6. Everlost is a book, written by Neal Shusterman, part one of the Skinjacker trilogy(sp?) Second one is Everwild, which is out and I just finished reading it. I would tell the mods of my other name but I forgot it a long time ago...Think it was 'the squire' or something like that. Never got banned though or even really did much of anything so hopefully they won't mind the new one...
  7. Hello! I was on this site several years ago, but never did much and left, now I'm back with a new name and such (hope that's ok). I don't really know what to do so I thought I would say hello and see where that goes. I'm 18, in oklahoma, and mainly into books, video games, and everything dragon based (dragons are awesome) Guess that's all I've got to say for now... Oh and has anyone heard of Everlost?
