  1. From Laub's Journal in a discourse from Joseph "Now I will tell the designs of building the tower of Bable. It was designed to goe to the city of Enoch, for the veil was not yet so thick that it hid it from their Sight. So they concluded to goe to the City of Enoch, for God gave him place above this impure Earth. For he could breath a pure hair & him and his City was taken, for God provided a better place for him for they was pure in heart. For it is the pure in heart that causes Zion to be & the time will come again to meet, that Enoch and his city will come again to meet our city & his people, our people, & the Air will be pure & the Lord will be in our midst for Ever." There are a lot of references and purported sayings from Joseph that the city was taken up from this earth and for a time remained visible to the inhabitants of the earth. Hence the tower of Babel
  2. Agreed marginoferror. While I am not currently a faithful believing member of the church, the scriptures are filled with prophecies that have yet to occur. Prophets have been prophesying with the "this generation" claim since the restoration and the Lord has yet to come. If you are a believing member then stick with the prophecies in the scriptures and when you see a temple being built in Jerusalem or the building of zion, or God preaching his own sermon with the elements (think massive natural disasters, but Godly power thrown it) then you can claim that the time is near.
  3. Joseph Smith prophesied to the first of the saints that many of them would live to see the second advent of Christ and so did many other prophets after. Its been said many times and this same form of conversation has been played out numerous times. Since you probably believe in the scriptures just pay attention to the sings of the times.
  4. Joseph Smith taught that after the city of enoch was translated that the saints sought to join them and most the righteous were continually translated while very few were left on earth to fulfill the Lord's purposes. Joseph also taught that the king of salem sought to build a city just like the one enoch built and to be translated as well.
