It's good they didn't keep you there for too long. What is it like in terms of organization in the rescue work? It seems really chaotic. When I phoned somebody at FEMA to volunteer some of our USAR guys they gave me a bunch of excuses why we couldn't go. Seems like this is a never ending screw up.

I would have thought the Lord's Universities would do much better in the NCAA. Hey maybe my wife is right though, maybe sports aren't important to God.

Today's kid's do have more challenges than some of us did when we were younger. However they also have many things that we didn't have growing up. Today's kids are smarter and better developed than we were. They have better teaching methods to make them smarter, and even naturally they seems smarter than 30 yrs ago. When I was a kid I couldn't think about talking to my mother or father about sex, girls, drugs or anything else. These days kids can do so because there is more understanding by parents. There is nothing they can't read about in school. I do think that our kids are being coddled for not choosing to make good decisions. For every problem, there are a dozen ways to solve them. And if TV is influencing your kids more than you are.... you are going to need to think about what kind of parent you are. If eminem can impact my son or daughter more than I can then I have made some serious mistakes and fallen short as a father.

Or on the wedding... like my mother in law did.

Personally, I would have gone after Iran before Iraq anyways. But I am not a politician hopeful... oops, I mean a general. Well you know, somebody has to make an attempt to rid the world of terrorism and people who kill in the name of God. Lord knows nobody other than the US has even attempted to do so on their own. Must be nice to live in a world that is brought to you by the kind folks in the USA. It must be nice to know that Canadian peice of mind is bought with American blood.

You did make me laugh so you get points for effort.If you had bothered to go through that process called thinking, you may have realized or remembered that I am an American citizen currently living in Canada. I know the US has done quite a bit thus far. But if we compare our resources to what other nations have, will our contributions be proportionate? We spend 3.8 billion dollars on McDonald's food... do you think we'll ever spend that much helping other people?

When I read the list of what countries have donated the most money, a few days ago, I saw that Australia, Germany, and Japan all have given substantially more than the United States has. It should not be this way. No country in the world can provide more financial aid more than the US can. We wonder why the world has a beef against us. Could it be that we are indeed a greedy nation? I certainly have my curiosities about various companies and organizations who are refusing to say how much they have given? What do they have to hide? I personally believe those of us who have been blessed with a lot have a responsibility as human beings to give back. If we don't, what makes us different than the animals? Interesting that this is being compared to 9/11. The death toll here is 50 times larger than 9/11 and could jump to only God knows how many people.

You have made a ginormous error. You are just a-trying to hurt my feelings and insult me, a noble goal certainly but your effort was so short of the mark that it can't be worth the 35 minutes it took you to come up with your snappy retort. Here's why: I'm not your wife, don't speak down to me as you do her. So you are the type of guy to try and buy his wife's love huh? I guess the American Express Card is a great thing huh. I would hope that this is all a joke and you don't honestly say such things to your wife. I know one thing for certain. If you did actually write such a thing to your wife in a Christmas card, and it actually meant something to her, then your marriage needs a major overhaul. I had more intimate things to say when I was dating my wife after 1 month. I know you don't care what anybody thinks. You are elite in your own world and see yourself as better than everybody else in it. Why would you care what anybody else thinks. You're preparing for your godhood aren't you?

You make her sound more like your employee rather than your wife that you love and cherish. I guess we all treat our wives differently.

What do you think praying is?

I believe that would be a disservice to your children if you were to discourage post secondary education. Hugh Nibley and Brigham Young lived in a different time where you cannot draw a comparisson to today. There are many degrees that are not worth anything by themselves. My own degree isn't worth very much but it enabled me to get to a place that I would not have been able to go without it. Most people with degrees seem to think that they don't have to work as hard as somebody who doesn't, or at least that is the way they live.

I thought what the men's 4x100 team did with the US flag when they won, in the last Olympics, was equally shameful.

I have not been following it that closely but apparently security is a big reason why many US athletes did not make the trip. I mean these NBA players are already millionares. Olympic basketball has never really been regarded as important because it has been so dominated by the US. I mean this is the first time in almost 20 yrs that the US has lost. I don't really care about it myself. I enjoy Olympic hockey because any number of teams can win. I am sure there are a lot of other athletes who don't want to be there but they have to because a Gold medal takes care of all their sponsors and bills. It really sucks to be an amateur athlete.

We need to remember that the USA is the only team in the Olympics that has come together only for the Olympics. Track the other teams and you will not that these people have played together for years in international and professional European leagues. The veterans don't want to go over there considering Americans might as well have big bullseyes on them. There are only 2 people on the USA's team that actually belong there. Tim Duncan and Allen Iverson..... and maybe even Lebron James (but that is a big maybe because he is not one of the 12 best American players).

Because I have done the job for 11 yrs, wheras you have not.My devotion to perfection and to professionalism saves peoples lives every day. Do I care about the people I treat? Of course. But if you care too much then the job will destroy you. Most people can't imagine what it is like to bring an infant into the hospital knowing that child will never come out. Or telling an elderly woman that her spouse of 50+ yrs has died. Professionalism is the most important part of my job. Compassion is an important element. There is a reason why the average paramedic lasts 7 yrs. Most do not learn this lesson.
