  1. I get so discouraged when good, decent parents do all the "right" things for their family, and still wind up with kids who'd rather be loud, foul-mouthed brats.
  2. Semodex, I don't have any Magic Square info, but if I do pick up on anything about it, I'll let you know. Good luck in your calling.
  3. Teacher training meetings are great for problem areas, such as discipline, teaching students with learning disabilities, and other sensitive topics that may come up.
  4. It's so amazing when a teacher prepares so far in advance that they can print out a syllabus, or outline of the lessons for the whole year. That is admirable. Our teacher training seminar suggested preparing a month in advance.
  5. Acting out scripture stories, role playing, and discussing how those events and people relate to their own lives, or the lives of present day people. It's great to get them involved as much as possible.
  6. Give yourself a few months to get to know what will work best for your students. You'll find yourself being inspired by the students, in a lot of ways. Games are great when you divide the kids in groups. Kids can help in lesson preparation.
  7. Do you have access to any specialty bra shops? They may have a bra that would help in the filled out look. If I were you, I'd go that route, first.
  8. I would be naughty pointing fingers or naming names, so I'll just mention that some rather prominent church leaders in this area are guilty of testimony unfocus.
  9. Children seem to learn so much easier than many adults. Ha ha! I love to hear children's testimonies. Even when they need a little help.
  10. Sometimes I think it's a lost cause, hoping someone will teach the correct way to give a testimony. I think a lot of people have never been told how it is done. So then, each person copies an incorrect method, and no one has the heart to correct them.
  11. I really like the fellowship suggestions: inviting her to activities, calling her up to see how she's doing, asking her if she needs anything, being sincerely caring. Maybe you can talk with the RS pres. and ask about fellowship ideas. Also, encourage her to invite her friends and family to church. I agree with dorave, it might not be a racial issue keeping her from church. But if it is, I think it's ok to tell her that you too would hope to see more racial diversity in your ward.
  12. I have made up many many things on this forum and on my profile. Sometimes, hoping to get a laugh. Sometimes, just to see what response I get. Mostly, because I see my reality as too boring. And how often do "average" things get a response.
  13. Brother riverogue, don't give up on yourself or your journey in life. I was going through very similar doubts a long time ago. I allowed those doubts to make me stray from the church. Stay in the LDS church. Keep learning and growing.
  14. I got my hair cut short, not too long ago. So short that it spikes on its own, without gel or anything. It was a big risk, because I have always had very VERY long hair. But I always get polite comments.
