  1. probably not what he wrote, but how her husband interpreted it or responded to it.
  2. http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl-williams-plan.htmBasically Williams got the credit, because the true writer quoted him at the bottom.
  3. Just thought I should make a note, Robin Williams never said any of that. :)
  4. I read a study once that found that the more education a woman has, the more likely she is to breastfeed. In addition, a child who is breastfeed on average has 3 more IQ points than a child who is bottle-feed. I don't think a baby is necessarily getting more brain power by nursing, but I do think that things the parents value most are past down to their children. If a mother is more educated, then it's more likely she has read the overwhelming benefits of breast milk versus formula, and is also more likely to pass on the importance of learning. Another note on children valuing what parents value. My son is 10 months and his cousin is 9. This last weekend they were playing together and I dumped out a bucket full of toys. My son went right for a book and started fanning it, while his cousin picked up the first ball he could reach. My husband and I have been reading to our son since before he was born, and read to him each day and night. Books are by far his favorite toy, and he will head straight for any book or magazine left out. While my brother has been working with his son to get him to throw a baseball (with his left hand no less.) It’s pretty easy to see what the parents, even in small children.
  5. Some people argue that Nephi couldn't have been led by the Spirit because he broke one of the Ten Commandments, "thou shalt not kill." The Prophet Joseph Smith said, "God said, 'Thou shalt not kill;' at another time He said, 'Thou shalt utterly destroy.' This is the principle on which the government of heave is conducted -- by revelation adapted to the circumstances in which the children of the kingdom are placed. Whatever God requires is right, no matter what it is, although we may not see the reasons thereof till long after the events transpire. (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, sel. Joseph Fielding Smith, p. 256)
  6. But what about all those non-intelligent (sweet spirits) LDS women who also produce 12 children? Granted you would have to consent that it would take a great deal of talent to care for that many children, intelligent or not.
  7. Sorry for your bad experience. My advice would be to ignore Disruptive1. He's still a young guy who's yet to learn that true wisdom is discovering that you know nothing. I enjoy talking to him, but be warned, if he feels that he can offend you, he will. It would be cool if we could get the +40 crowd built back up again. I think that would be more to your liking (and get the young and singles built up so Disruptive1 has others to talk to as well )
  8. I would have a difficult time seeing any person excommunicated who has had sex before marriage, and never been to the temple, and goes to his/her bishop with a repentant heart. Although I would have to admit the possibility is always there. If a person is committing moral transgression, and has no desire to repent, and does not believe in God and the commandments, why would he/she want to be a member of the church anyway? I do know of two people who were excommunicated (not for moral transgression) who have never been to the temple, and I totally agree with the decision for them to be excommunicated. 9. Congrats on the book, Paul! It looks great! Here's a direct link so everyone can go check it out: Take Your Foot Off the Gas
  10. Yes I agree about the getting use to...I'm still discovering new toys within it. I love the fast reply option, and I'm really excited how everything is all in one. (One sign up name for everything in the site, except for the emails.) Thanks so much for all your nice comments and supports. It makes all the hard work worth while :)
  11. Yes just like that Franken. Jenda, I don't think it's possible with this board, because the blog is an add on right from invision. I could look around and see if it's free from another developer. The problem is finding a free board system that is secure and would allow the conversion from the system we have in place now.
  12. blog is an online journal where it's basically you're own forum. You make the main entries, and people are free to browse and comment. Both the chat and blog would be integrated into the forum, so all three would be available.
  13. I'm considering updating the board to the newest version, which would allow more features and reduce risk from attack. At the same time, I would consider putting in an intergraded chat and blog system (online journal.) But if you don't think it will be used or help "wake up" the site, then I don't see the point. A board license is $70, the chat would be $70/year and the blog is $50. The site is only making enough to cover hosting and domain right now, so I would be buying this out of pocket. That’s why I would like some input before I proceed. Thanks! Heather
  14. Ahhh! What are you going to do with the pups when they're weaned?
  15. Strawberry, yes I do all those kind of things. I recently did a transfer of a graduation video for someone who wanted it spruced up a bit, so I included slices of Snow white snoring during the graduation ceremony, added background music, text comments, all that fun stuff. Most people I've done videos for are just interested in getting their videos and photos transferred to DVD. I use to be a big scrapbooker, but to me this is much better way to preserve the memories. What kinds of things is your neighbor doing? It's a fun business to get into, and keeps me busy, but still lets me stay at home. I setup a website for mine earlier this year, dvdmemories.info if you want to look at it and give any suggestions. So glad to hear you're doing it. It's heartbreaking to see some of these VHS tapes come in that are just a mess cause they've been played over and over or just sitting on the shelf for 20 years. Although, some of the videos from the same time period look like they could've been filmed yesterday. Must be the quality of the media and care of the tape I suppose.
  16. That's too bad that things have really slowed down. I guess that can be both a good and bad thing. Thanks for the encouragment begood2. I have been doing video/photo transfers to DVD for sometime now, but I'm finally getting the ball rolling on the internet, so we'll see how it goes.
  17. Usually when I don't hear anything, that means the site is going pretty good. I'm lucky that there are such good monitors willing to keep the site up to par. It seems that every time I get a reported posted, it has already been removed when I log in to remove it. Without these monitors and admin, there is no way this site could still be up and running. Thank you so much for that! I am in the process of getting a business rolling online, and with a precocious 8 month old, it doesn't leave much time for anything (as I'm sure you all can imagine.) I will still try to pop in more often. (Although I would gather 90% of the users now don't even know who I am anymore ) If there ever is any problems you need to me address, the best way to contact me is through email ([email protected] works.)
