  4. I need some feedback on the More Good Foundation Home Page website and have started a new post to be more specific as Joel requested. Please visit the More Good Foundation Home Page site and then answer the following questions: 1 - When you first visited the page what was the first thing you noticed? 2 - What do you believe the purpose of the More Good Foundation is? 3 - What is the first link from the home page you clicked on? 4 - What is the most interesting part of the home page? 5 - What do you think the More Good Foundation does? 6 - Did the menu of items on the home page make sense to you? 7 - Approximately how many pages did you browse during this visit? 8 - How would you rate yourself as an Internet user? (Beginner, Intermediate, Expert)
  5. Yeah there should be links from the blog back to the main site. A complaint we have gotten from people is that they don't realize we have more than just one site. They see the MGF site and think that's the only one. My assumption for this is that they are commenting about the site without actually looking at it.
  6. Hey Internet fiends (yes I mean you!) I'm looking for feedback on the site More Good Foundation Home Page. Will you let me know your perceptions, thoughts, feelings, and what you got out of it? What's most interesting to you? I am looking for critical feedback from everyday web users.
  7. The comments are coming in from other websites, not other forums, where people have left a comment or a response to an article about the Church or LDS Beliefs. I setup it up so the titles of those threads all start the same so it's easy for those who are not interested in responding to other questions can ignore those threads. I'm also grateful for the high number of users from LDS.net who have been answering these questions and the conversations and missionary work that is taking place. LDS.net is 100% free. 100% ad free. I really don't think it's a big deal to feed in comments from other websites from people who are asking questions about the Church. I'm sorry if it's an annoyance, but I care more that those who have questions are finding answers from Church members. Elder Ballard said, "The challenge is that there are too many people participating in conversation about the Church for our Church personnel to converse with and respond to individually. We cannot answer every question, satisfy every inquiry, and respond to every inaccuracy that exists. As I said at General Conference in October, we need to remember that there is a difference between interest and curiosity. Sometimes people just want to know what the Church is. And some who seek answers want them to come directly from a member of the Church, like each one of you. They appreciate one-on-one conversations." The MGF is four full time staff with a few part time staff and contractors. Together we don't even make half a department at the Church. "We cannot answer every question, satisfy every inquiry, and respond to every inaccuracy that exists." As far as the politics thread goes, LDS.net is still governed by rules. If people are name calling or being rude, report it. If you don't want to talk about what's going on in certain areas, then don't. LDS.net does allow for a lot more discussion than many other moderated sites, but I don't see the need to restrict things to the point there is nothing left to talk about. Either way, there will be some people who leave and who won't be happy with how the site is run. It is impossible for a social network or community website to satisfied the demands of every member.

  14. hi and welcome to the site. I think the best forum to post those questions to is the advice forum.
  15. A person on the forums who would like to remain anonymous requested that I post the following message for him: Well, I was wanting to post the issues I had in my marriage. I did not want to have my wife find out because she can have a pretty bad temper. It really started with me finding out years ago about her having large amounts of credit card debt and not telling me untill after we were engaged. I almost felt like calling off the marriage but because she is so sweet and nice to everyone including my familly then, my parents refused to not see me call off the marriage. She still has credit card binge buying from time to time and has never had a savings account. I have not worked since last August and currently not brining in any other income. While my loads of overtime that I saved during the year has been my income up to this time my wife does not get it that the fact I am out of work she keeps buying things. Since I have stopped working she has purchaced.. - A new King size bed. Our last one is two years old. - A new two seat sofa. I protested that one. -New electric fireplace. She did not tell me on this one. -New computer. She did not tell me this and hid it in the closet. -New 40 inche LCD TV Again, did not tell me I came home one day with the new LCD in the box. -New TV DVR -New 15 inch LCD tv for master bedroom - NEW rice cooker. Nothing wrong with old one. She knows Im not working demands money from me at the end of each month. Complains if I dont pay it our rent check will bounce. Ohh and if anyone suggest we go seek counseling, she will refuse. Early on before we were sealed stake president recomended we seek counseling as this is the standard for all couples that are married. When I asked my wife to see a finacial counseler as the stake presedient sugested/required she was mad and said if we seek a finacial counselor I will divorse you. So that pretty much put the nail in the coffin. Often she would always threaten divorse but as of the last year or two has not been a factor. She is a wonderfull person in alot of other ways. Just with I could get her to understand the value of time VS money. BTW, I am a saver and pinch pennies.

    1 Nephi 8:1

1 Nephi 8:1 Lehi sees a vision of the tree of life—He partakes of its fruit and desires his family to do likewise—He sees a rod of iron, a strait and narrow path, and the mists of darkness that enshroud men—Sariah, Nephi, and Sam partake of the fruit, but Laman and Lemuel refuse. Between 600 and 592 B.C. 1 And it came to pass that we had gathered together all manner of seeds of every kind, both of grain of every kind, and also of the seeds of fruit of every kind. Quotes for Discussion Prayer is the means by which man communicates with God. Revelation is the means by which God communicates with man. Now I say that we are entitled to revelation. I say that every member of the Church, independent and irrespective of any position that he may hold, is entitled to get revelation from the Holy Ghost; he is entitled to entertain angels; he is entitled to view the vision of eternity; and if we would like to go the full measure, he is entitled to see God the same way that any prophet in literal and actual reality has seen the face of Deity. Bruce R. McConkie, Sermons and Writings of Bruce R. McConkie , p.154 It is the grand privilege of every Latter-day Saint to have the manifestations of the spirit every day of our lives. President Lorenzo Snow, Conference Report, April 1899, Third Day—Morning Session No man can receive the Holy Ghost without receiving revelations. The Holy Ghost is a revelator. 19. "Discipleship includes good citizenship; and in this connection, if you are careful students of the statements of the modern prophets, you will have noticed that with rare exceptions--especially when the First Presidency has spoken out--the concerns expressed have been over moral issues, not issues between political parties. The declarations are about principles, not people, and causes, not candidates. On occasions, at other levels in the Church, a few have not been so discreet, so wise, or so inspired. But make no mistake about it, brothers and sisters; in the months and years ahead, events will require of each member that he or she decide whether or not he or she will follow the First Presidency. Members will find it more difficult to halt longer between two opinions (see 1 Kings 18:21). President Marion G. Romney said, many years ago, that he had "never hesitated to follow the counsel of the Authorities of the Church even though it crossed my social, professional, or political life" (CR, April 1941, p. 123). This is a hard doctrine, but it is a particularly vital doctrine in a society which is becoming more wicked. In short, brothers and sisters, not being ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ includes not being ashamed of the prophets of Jesus Christ. We are now entering a period of incredible ironies. Let us cite but one of these ironies which is yet in its subtle stages: we shall see in our time a maximum if indirect effort made to establish irreligion as the state religion. It is actually a new form of paganism that uses the carefully preserved and cultivated freedoms of Western civilization to shrink freedom even as it rejects the value essence of our rich Judeo-Christian heritage. "
  20. That is so awesome! I know you've been studying the Church for sometime. How did it all come about?
  21. “The ordinances of the endowment embody certain obligations on the part of the individual, such as covenant and promise to observe the law of strict virtue and chastity, to be charitable, benevolent, tolerant and pure; to devote both talent and material means to the spread of truth and the uplifting of the race; to maintain devotion to the cause of truth; and to seek in every way to contribute to the great preparation that the earth may be made ready to receive her King,—the Lord Jesus Christ. With the taking of each covenant and the assuming of each obligation a promised blessing is pronounced, contingent upon the faithful observance of the conditions” (The House of the Lord, rev. ed. [1976], 84).
  22. We are called Mormons. Many people look upon us as a singular sect as they cry: Delusion, false prophets, polygamy, as once was so common; or Racists, antiwomen, patriarchal dictators, as some now say; or Worshippers of Adam and deniers of Christ and his grace, as others falsely acclaim; or whatever sophistry of the moment will sow the seeds of prejudice among those who otherwise might learn who we are and what we believe. Oftentimes it seems to us that these cries from shallow minds and these self-serving statements of those who resent our rapid growth and increasing influence in the world and these voices whose social and political views we do not espouse are but another evidence of the truth and divinity of the work itself. The devil is not dead, and as his voice was once raised in cries of Crucify him, crucify him, so it now shrieks in shrilling hysteria against Christs people in this day. We feel it is not too much to ask, in this age of enlightenment and open dialogue, to let us be the ones who tell who we are, what we believe, and why our cause is going forward in such a marvelous way.
