  1. Who the heck is Ryan White? I've heard of and known of many of the other events on the list (espicially #2 and 5), but I have NEVER, NEVER heard of this guy. Also, I believe that the Columbia disaster was around this time of year as well, about 8 or so years ago, right?
  2. Well technically, Judas had to betray Jesus otherwise the attonement wouldn't have happened. Was it a serious sin? For sure, yes. BUT like I said, it was nessecary to enact the attonement so there has to be some credit for that. If I'm also correct, after betraying Jesus, Judas felt guilty. Whether he was sorry for himself or if he was sorry that he killed the son of God, we'll never know, but you can't just judge him for one of his wrongs. I mean, if we were judged for our place in heaven by a single wrong moment, it would definitly not fully define who we are in real life.
  3. It's clear that there are many great movies out there that are adapted from real events, books, games, etc. but there are also many bad movie adaptations as well that are out there. Which film adaptations do you consider the worst that you have seen? For me the worst adaptation I have seen by far has to be 'The Lightning Theif'. I read the book when I was younger, and when I watched the film, I was especting the enjoyable entertainment that I got from the book. Instead, it was just the same old wasted Hollywood garbage, that was no where near as enjoyable as the book. tl;dr -Worst movie adaptation you've seen. -TL10 did not like 'The Lightning Theif' adaptation. How about you?
  4. Honestly, if I wanted some person of some sort of cultural signifcance/reconition to represent the LDS person, Glenn Beck would be at the bottom of my list. I'll leave it at that.
  5. That just adds insult to injury. Kinda like Al Capone. He broke many major crimes, yet got booked for tax evasion. It makes the justice system look completely messed up.
  6. That is honestly the most sickest, hideous, disgusting thing I have ever heard of. What he did to them after was even worse. I couldn't stand to read the rest of the article.
  7. Here's my perspective, but first of all, let me talk about myself for a moment. I have a slight provokable temper. While I have been pretty angry at times, I have never been in a rage/full out angry-nuke attitude, though I have been close too many times. The only thing that stops me is my personal self concious Jimminy Cricket that always gives me guilt trips when I think of something morally wrong. This, got me really close to getting really, really angry. The only thing that kept me cool was the fact that I wasn't there in person. Yeah, I know we need to be slow to anger and all that, but I'm a guy who believes strongly in respecting others, the golden rule, yadda yadda yadda. I could not-would not stand to something like this and let it continue without some sort of intervention. Probobly the biggest reaction from me would be me scolding him for dissing on us and all that a la Billy Mays, most certainly followed by a strong testimony of the church. I'll be frank here, if this was at my High School, the guy would be pretty much shunned by society, given the fact that there's a large percentage of LDS kids like me attending it. Alot of the teachers, classmates, non-members know who we are, and there's plenty who take a liking to us. Ever since I've started high school, I haven't seen any of my LDS friends being mocked at for our religion. I know there's going to be comments in response like, "You should be more tolarant" and such, and in my head, I'm kinda saying the same things too to myself, but I compare this to a dogfight in a jet fighter, you don't have the time and luxury to make the right/perfect choice, you only have a split second of making one. And in real life, I'm just not sure if everyone (including me) can make a rational choice in a situation like this.
  8. Actually, you can tip a cow. All you need is magnets, a slab of metal tied onto the cow, and most of all, a Portal Gun. (This is the part where I get the Nobel Prize)
  9. Honestly, I think we could be worse off. Look at Somalia, not really the happiest place on earth. Sure, I'm not to thrilled about same sex marriage and all that, but we should be happy with what we've got. We're pretty darn lucky to be living in a free country where there's a democracy, whereas many are not.
  10. Guys, I doubt the relevance of this topic today here in Canada. It may or may not have been a major issue back in 2007, but from what I've seen in the news in the past few months, this issue is completely unheard of. And even if there was such an issue, it would have a tough time against Conservative/tradationalist reigions such as Quebec and Alberta, it's just not going to happen.
  11. inb4: "Aquaman, you are not the father!"
  12. IMHO, considering it's a play created by the guys who inspired the whole, gingers don't have souls thing, kick a ginger, that whole mohammed controversy, etc. etc., I don't think it'll cast a good light on us. Also, 2012 isn't soon enough.
  13. Well, you could say that we're polygamists because so many of us consider Hockey as our second spouse. Apart from that though, I for one, have not noticed such issues in the news myself.
  14. Honesty, if I met one of these guys, I'd give them a big thank you. Seriously, who in their right minds would protest at a nine year old's funeral?! It's just wrong, and it is almost as sickening as the shooting itself.
  15. It's horrifying when a warped man shoots and injures over a dozen people and kill several, and it's disgusting to see people take advantage of it. I'm telling you, if Westboro ever came and did their 'protesting' crap up here, they'd get eaten alive.
  16. Well, Westboro has officially hit rock bottom. Link to article here.
  17. The Daily What The Daily Wh.at is providing updates as they come. They are not an official news source but have reblogged information from several official sites. Also, there have been deaths, including U.S. District Judge John Roll. Expect more during the next few hours.
  18. Edit: Sorry for the overload. Don't blame me for the lag. With the rising string of Bird and Fish Deaths, the National Post has created an infographic on the current situation so far (article) : Anybody remember the exact details of the 1/3 of the sea will die stuff from Revelation? Because I think this is it.
  19. Jar Jar was great. 'nuff said. (and so the fan war begins)
  20. I sure hope you're not refering to Episodes I, II and III. Those were pretty good. Now if you were talking about that animated series they have going on right now, then I'd side with you. I havn't seen the original Tron, but after listening to the music in the first trailer they released for Legacy, I felt a rush of epicness. Needless to say, the OST is DEFINITELY going to be in the iTunes shopping cart soon.
  21. Adding to that; in layman's terms, it basically means that Joesph had 'spiritual sunglasses' so that he didn't burn up in God's glory.
  22. It comes with a side of hillarious.
