  1. I think many Bishops must agonize at Testimony meeting. The counsel from the First Presidency is clear, but too few of our Bishops are reluctant to counsel their ward members about this problem. It is extremely hard to teach this principle without offending parents. However, if we receive the counsel from the First Presidency as we should, I am sure Testimony meetings throughout the Church would see a new level of spirituality. PureTestimony is a powerful teacher. I don't think the children bearing their testimony are as disruptive to the Spirit as adult members who take off on tangents, travelogues, or political rants. We, as members, should do everything in our power to make our Testimony meetings what they should be.
  2. President Packer in his talk this October General Conference mad a very important statement. His words have been taken from this talk near the end. "Sometimes you might be tempted to think as I did from time to time in my youth: “The way things are going, the world’s going to be over with. The end of the world is going to come before I get to where I should be.” Not so! You can look forward to doing it right—getting married, having a family, seeing your children and grandchildren, maybe even great-grandchildren." President Packer -Counsel to Youth I think he has put many things in perspective. I enjoy and I have studied much about the Last Days. I certainly am no authority but we need to watch and listen and live our lives according to the counsel of the General Authorities.
  3. My family converted to the Church in 1963 when I was 11 years old. I met my wife at BYU, even though she was from my home town. Go figure! We since, have been married for 40 years, this year, and we have raised one daughter and four sons. My wife and I have loved serving in the Church, in many callings, over the years. I must admit being called as a Bishop in 1983 was especially special and rewarding to me.t In 2001, my life changed when I was stricken with Lyme disease. My wife is also dealing with many illnesses that have changed her life.So the last ten plus years have been full of many challenges. We are so thankful that we have the Gospel in our life to have kept us grounded and optimistic about the future. Isn't the Gospel great!! I look forward to meeting you through these forums and look forward to your comments and feelings about the Work in which we are engaged.
