    Hi

Hello Gab. Welcome to lds.net. What seems to confuse you? There are lots of good people here who may be able to help you. Just keep on writing your concerns and people here will try to help you as much as they can. God bless you.
  6. That was beautifully done. I wonder now if it is part of a show or a movie hehehehe.
  7. Welcome Kabayan. Enjoy your conversations with people here. Although majority of the people here are LDS just like I am, there are people of other faiths too. Feel free to ask questions you may have and they will be answered. God bless.
  8. Welcome to the site Cherie. You will enjoy the company of people here whether they are LDS or Non-LDS. Just feel free to look around and if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask anybody. God bless.
  9. I think it was brown, over the knee skirt she wore that time.
  10. My wife calls those people working in the temple who are very strict in obeying the guidelines, which are sometimes for convenience, temple police. One time, she went to the endowment session with skirt under her temple dress. She totally forgot to take it off. She was pregnant (I don't know if that counts hehehe). After she discovered it, they wanted her to redo the whole endowment process. She did not do it. But they probably took the name and have it redone by another patron. Oh well, we really have a lot of over "enthusiastic" people in the temple. They should remember that policies and guidelines are there to serve people and not people to serve policies and guidelines. Happy New Year to everyone.
  11. Welcome to the board TurkeyRun. LDS.net may be able to help you with your questions. We have lots of nice people here who are willing to listen and answer your questions, be they LDS or Non-LDS. Welcome and enjoy your stay.
  12. Hello Merlie. Welcome sa LDS.net. I hope you enjoy being a part of this website.
  13. I purchased it through fairlds.org bookstore. You can also buy it from deseret.com.
  14. IntoGod, I know it is hard for you because it involves families that you truly love and you want them to share your happiness with them. Would it be too much to tell them that this is your wedding and that you want everybody to share your happiness with them in a sober manner? I know they will probably look at it as something about the Church controlling you or the bishop and members influencing you. However you decide to do it, with or without alcohol, will it make you happy? We are all about doing the right thing, as for me, the right thing to do is not to have alcohol, but that is just me. The final words will be coming from you. Good luck and congratulations on your wedding day!
  15. Critics have always used the first vision with its different versions as a tool to discredit Joseph Smith and the Church. Here is a link where you can find explanations from LDS Scholars about the versions and what does each version emphasize. First Vision accounts - FAIRMormon
  16. There is a book by apologist Mike Ash entitled Shaken Faith Syndrome that discusses your questions. I don't have the book with me right now but when I get it I will share some of his insights about the "faith shaking discoveries" of some members that made them leave the Church and his answer to those discoveries.
  17. Welcome to LDS.net Chikako. There are lots of friendly people here. I hope you will enjoy your visits here.:)
  18. Pam, where did you serve your mission? I assume you went on a mission since you know something about pancit and lumpia.
  19. This is a book that will help strengthen one's testimony in the face of criticism and doubt. Michael Ash helps the reader to understand the anti-Mormon criticisms and attacks and gives logical explanation of answers to these attacks with help of modern discoveries that support the authenticity of Book of Mormon as translated ancient scriptures, its geography, the textual changes, and a lot more. I suggest this book for reading for anyone who wants to add some knowledge to his/her testimony. I know testimony comes thru the witness of the Holy Ghost but to testify to people who criticize the church, you must have knowledge of what their attacks are and the answers to those attacks. I just finished it this morning while I was on the bus.
  20. My title is kinda long, but I am just curious, if you have time and money, what places would you visit? I would love to visit all the operating LDS temples in the world. How about you?
  21. HoosierGuy, I just admire your attitude towards the gospel of Christ. In your few months of being a member of the Church you surely have shown so much desire to learn of the gospel. Continue to ask questions and knowledge will come your way and the Holy Ghost will confirm the truths to you. I have followed your threads since you first started as a shy but willing to learn investigator. Congratulations on your continued increase in testimony. God bless you brother.
  22. Is that really the Catholic view? I guess I was absent when they taught that in cathecism when I was a Catholic. What is the purpose of confirmation in Catholic then, which occurs usually when a child turns 8 years old (at least in the Philippines)? I am not being sarcastic or anything, I am just asking this question for understanding. Thank you.
  23. Here is a reply from a member who saw this video in YouTube when asked if this is in a chapel: This was not take in a chapel it was take in a treament center for teens. --which was held at a school for troubled youth. It is a 10 month in-house program that helps these kids 'right the ship'.-- these rooms are set up to give a reverent feeling but are not dedicated as a chapel. In Utah most care centers (for adults teens and childern) have this type of room. Only in hospitals are there actual dedicated Chapels and not all hospitals do. We have four care centers in our Stake.
  24. Well, you may not know it Pam but Manila paper is called Manila paper because it came from Manila hemp which is particular to the Philippines. Here is a little info about it from answer.com: Columbia Encyclopedia: Manila hemp, the most important of the cordage fibers. It is obtained chiefly from the Manila hemp plant (Musa textilis) of the family Musaceae (banana family). It is grown mainly in its native Philippine Islands, where it has been cultivated since the 16th cent. and is known as abacá. The abacá is in no way related to the true hemp; it is of the same genus as the common banana, which it closely resembles except for the inedible fruit. At maturity the plants are cut down, and the long fibers are taken from overlapping leaves that converge at the base to form a false stem. The fibers are exceptionally strong and durable. The coarser ones are used for binder twine, matting, and rope, particularly marine cordage because of their resistance to the action of saltwater; the finer grades are woven into beautiful native fabrics and hemp hats. Manila paper is made chiefly from old Manila hemp ropes and is valuable as a strong wrapping paper. Manila hemp is classified in the division Magnoliophyta, class Liliopsida, order Zingiberales, family Musaceae.
