LOUIS, MO—Local liberal Joe Bailey has for years enjoyed cheering on his son Brandon at his Little League soccer games, but lately that has proven difficult, since his cheering typically involves shouting the insurrectionist chant "Let's Go Brandon" from the stands. "I try to be so careful, but every so often in the excitement, I let slip a ‘Let’s go Brandon!’" said Bailey. "Then all the parents join in chanting, the game devolves into fits of laughter, and all the Trump supporters are trying to give me a high-five. It’s horrible!" According to sources, Mr. Bailey has thought about changing his son's name to something like "Bandleigh" or "Braidlynio" to make things a bit easier. "Woooo!" said Bailey as his son made a great play, trying desperately to avoid using the dreaded phrase. "Let's go... bud! Well played! Positive reinforcement!" Just then, Brandon scored a goal, causing his dad to jump to his feet and involuntarily scream "LET'S GO BRANDON!", causing the entire crowd to join in. Joe Bailey is now on 12 FBI watch lists.
  2. You can't "winterize" a transmission grid and the associated generation in a short time. It's a multi-year proposal. It's a bit like hoping that Texas builds enough highways and roads in a year to relieve all traffic jams. Infrastructure isn't something that can be changed quickly. Your state PUC is the entity that controls how much investment is made in the grid, not the power companies. The PUC holds the purse strings by limiting the ROI for utilities. No utility builds anything unless they know that they can recover the costs.
  3. As the requirements to stay vaccinated with an infinite amount of constant jabs becomes tedious I think you will see more and more of the "currently vaccinated" begin to migrate to the "done with this" unvaccinated camp. Especially if they have a severe reaction to one of the shots. After almost seventy or more years of pushing, the US still only has about a 50% vaccine rate for flu mainly among those who are at risk. Fervor tends to wane over time, and the vaccinistas who have heaped these mandates upon the people causing them to lose their freedoms and jobs may finally get their just reward from those they persecuted.
  4. I like it! As a Church there will be much to celebrate in the coming years. I wish you well on your project.
  5. Ether 8: 24 Wherefore, the Lord commandeth you, when ye shall see these things come among you that ye shall awake to a sense of your awful situation, because of this asecret combination which shall be among you; or wo be unto it, because of the blood of them who have been slain; for they cry from the dust for vengeance upon it, and also upon those who built it up. 25 For it cometh to pass that whoso buildeth it up seeketh to overthrow the afreedom of all lands, nations, and countries; and it bringeth to pass the destruction of all people, for it is built up by the devil, who is the father of all lies; even that same liar who bbeguiled our first parents, yea, even that same liar who hath caused man to commit murder from the beginning; who hath chardened the hearts of men that they have dmurdered the prophets, and stoned them, and cast them out from the beginning. _________________________________ IMHO this was a warning for our day. It never said how they were going to accomplish this "overthrow", just that it would happen. The words "awake to a sense of you awful situation" implies that by the time most church members recognize what is happening it will probably be too late. Those who don't believe that powerful men conspire should go back to watching their TVs because they are a hindrance to recognizing the problem. Nothing seems to be beyond their reach and power anymore - create pandemics, forcing vaccines, controlling banking for the rich, courts siding with unconstitutional laws, food supplies withheld, shipping suddenly being constrained, money being watched, governments falling apart. They are here, and they already run things and Jesus Christ is the only answer to their control. God bless the Saints in these latter days, they are going to get tough.
  6. It seems like just yesterday that we were calling Vai to be a Bishop in the Cherry Hill Stake, New Jersey. I was the Stake Executive Secretary at the time and Brother Ahmad Corbitt was the 2nd Counselor. He served wonderfully and later became the Stake President after President Corbitt. It's neat to see regular, but extraordinarily committed people called to serve in His Kingdom. Of course, it was earlier than that at college that we watched Vai consistently run through opposing teams on kickoff returns!
  7. Heaven knows the Seattle region needs another temple! It's almost impossible to commute to the Bellevue one in a timely manner the traffic is so bad. How about a couple more NW temples: 1. The Snohomish Temple 2. The Olympia Temple 3. The Vancouver (WA) Temple And another CA temple: 4. The San Jose Temple And long long overdue! 5. A Park City / Heber Temple
  8. I like South Pacific because it is very adaptable for shorter local play productions. However, the movie is not one that I choose to watch very often. I can't imagine Baritone Manilow as a bad guy though???
  9. I make a promise to myself that I will act upon any and all promptings received. Then I wait in anticipation during every talk.
  10. The hymns seems like this when the tempo is too slow:
  11. Amazing how in our efforts to "protect" children and young adults, we actually doubled their primary risk factor in the number one Covid comorbidity! https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7037a3.htm Longitudinal Trends in Body Mass Index Before and During the COVID-19 Pandemic Among Persons Aged 2–19 Years — United States, 2018–2020 Summary What is already known about this topic? The COVID-19 pandemic led to school closures, disrupted routines, increased stress, and less opportunity for physical activity and proper nutrition, leading to weight gain among children and adolescents. What is added by this report? Among a cohort of 432,302 persons aged 2–19 years, the rate of body mass index (BMI) increase approximately doubled during the pandemic compared to a prepandemic period. Persons with prepandemic overweight or obesity and younger school-aged children experienced the largest increases. What are the implications for public health practice? Obesity prevention and management efforts during and following the COVID-19 pandemic could include health care provider screening for BMI, food security, and social determinants of health, and increased access to evidence-based pediatric weight management programs and food assistance resources.
  12. Agreed. I've got a lot of math under my belt but I wouldn't even think of attempting that type of conversion with medicine/chemicals.
  13. They are being forced to by their doctors and pharmacists refusing to prescribe the human grade. I have a legal prescription but I had to get a pharmacy other than my normal one. I've taken Ivermectin, and a person would be hard pressed to ever know they took it. It's so safe for human consumption that most countries offer it OTC. We have to remember that when Covid hit our shores that there were no treatment protocols for doctors to follow. Zero. Nada. Front line critical care doctors treating early Covid patients had no guidance whatsoever to follow because it was new and unknown. There were no "studies" to draw upon. Any guidance from the CDC and FDA has been ad hoc at best. They had no data to support their previous or current recommendations due to the nature of how long it takes to do double-blind studies. Because most people recover easily, MOST doctors treating Covid patients told them to go home and if their breathing got bad then head to the hospital emergency room. In essence, they were doing NOTHING. Nada. Zero. Nanimo nai. However, some critical care doctors who were on the front lines treating patients (not bureaucrats who sit on their brains all day and spout off as Covid experts) wanted to do more than "wait" for their patients to possibly get worse. They experimented with HCQ, Ivermectin, zinc, vitamin D, melatonin, quercetin, and other protocols to try and prevent the cytokine storms from happening at all. They found that some of those worked marvelously well and moved quickly to inform other doctors. Some were invited to Washington DC to testify about their successes. And what did they get for their efforts? They were branded as heretics. Hence many of us have to wonder what the motivations have really been during this pandemic for FDA and CDC officials. They brazenly discredit the cheap and successful protocols developed by front line critical care doctors treating Covid patients, but they give the go-ahead for expensive experimental treatments based on the slightest wiff of evidence. Hospitals were incentivized with tons of $$$ to use these and none of them helped. (My wife works in medical billing and directly sees the bonuses paid to hospitals if they will classify patients as Covid positive.) Something didn't add up, and it still doesn't. But as you point out, research and time will eventually win the day - at least it used to. I guess we will see, but if it turns out that early intervention with these protocols is eventually determined to absolutely be effective, I doubt all the experts who spoke out against them will take responsibility and resign for their part in causing thousands of unnecessary Covid deaths.
  14. I'm good with that. If you stuff a running back, you flex like your on Muscle Beach, and then you reach down and help the running back up. I think that still qualifies as good sportsmanship.
  15. There are few things that embarrass me more than watching a BYU game and seeing poor sportsmanship. Great coaches teach their players that you can demand excellence from yourself and still be a class act on the field. I'm right with you @classylady .
  16. 89-91 time frame. If I remember right we started in the Conyers ward (the Bishop was an airline pilot), and then they created the Stockbridge Ward. I believe it was the Jonesboro Stake at that time. Need to check notes at home.
  17. As a "scientist" I wrote with a great deal of sarcasm. It has never ceased to amaze me how quickly people will make rash spiritual decisions based upon a rather incomplete knowledge of events and histories, etc., and when those sandy foundations shift under their feet they panic. If people are patient, the Lord will one day reveal all scientific things about the Book of Mormon and even my PhD cousin whom I love dearly, but who left the Church because he couldn't reconcile native American genetics with the Nephite/Lamanite narrative, will be able to see that all truth is indeed wrapped up in our imperfect but wonderful faith.
  18. Just when it was safe to assume that modern anthropology / archaeology / genetics had proved the Book of Mormon is fiction (hence some felt they needed to leave the church or are still dealing with a faith crisis) another piece of evidence disrupts the previous iron-clad truths scientists had about the Americas. Or is constant disruption and change what science is all about to begin with 😲!? I say we need to stop researching in order to stop these kinds of unorthodox discoveries that bring change and anguish to our happy world and cause students stress at test time. https://www.science.org/content/article/human-footprints-near-ice-age-lake-suggest-surprisingly-early-arrival-americas
  19. I think your bio mom was wise. Never confuse bedside manner with skillset competence. It's why job interviews are notoriously bad at predicting employee performance IMHO.
  20. But they are darn good at repeating the bureaucratic necromancy of faceless government officials at the FDA and CDC
  21. Job burnout due to Covid has hit many professions. And many people are simply looking at a woke world gone crazy and deciding to John Galt the situation. If I didn't feel an obligation to serve my fellow man I would drop off the radar and stop earning money for the socialists stealing it out of my pocket and giving it to others. I wonder how God will judge those who feel that it's OK to steal as long as they have the government do it through taxes and welfare programs.
  22. I came across an interesting quote in preparation for my new Church calling. It's from a book called The Crucible of Doubt by Terryl and Fiona Givens. "In 1945, a Church magazine urged upon its readers . . . that "When our leaders speak, the thinking has been done." This sounds a lot like the current vaccine debate among members. But it goes on to say: "Many are familiar with that expression; fewer are aware that when President George Albert Smith learned of it, he immediately and indignantly repudiated the statement. "Even to imply that members of the Church are not to do their own thinking," he wrote, "is grossly to misrepresent the true ideals of the Church." Regrettably, this myth persists in the minds of many Latter-day Saints, even as leaders disavow infallibility and urge upon members personal responsibility." This made me recall the First Presidency's January 19,2021 message on the Covid vaccine which stated: “Individuals are responsible to make their own decisions about vaccination.” Gut feelings do count IMHO. If those feelings change following more study, wonderful. But if they stay the same or intensify after more study, God wants us to follow those promptings IMHO.
  23. We were north off of 20 in a little town called Lithonia. I had a cousin in Snellville back then too. My home teaching companion was the first Temple President in the Atlanta Temple, Bro. Joyner. Loved it there. Wished we could have stayed but jobs were scarce at the time.
  24. Oh, the disappointment on people's faces when I told them I was in grad school at Tech ;) But that was the year they tied for the National Championship so I guess it worked out all right. Tells you how old I am 😎
