My other big hobby is Dungeons and Dragons.  I've played since about 1977 and still play today.  In fact, the group is playing again tomorrow night.  My group consists of my son (the other is on a mission right now), my best friend from Jr High forward and his son, a couple of former kids in the ward (now adults) and my bishop. Greatest game ever created.

I love music too, mostly rock and metal.  Someday I may learn to play guitar.

@old, God bless ya.  I'm going to close the thread, I think after 8 pages, folks have pretty much had their say.
And I'm not gonna ban you or ding you or put you in post approval or any other things a mod does, but please understand we take site rule #1 seriously.
I've had umpteen experiences with umpteen folks heading out of the church for various reasons.  In my experience, they need love more than anything else.  I truly do wish you and your family the best.   Keep in touch.

What do you mean by "the LDS Church"?  If you're talking about members being blown about by shifting cultural winds, I'd say yes.   If you're talking about "Church leadership hired this guy who has said supportive things about those winds, and therefore there's a problem with church leadership", I'd say no.
And I'd like to point out site rule #1:

If this becomes an exit story, the mods'll shut it down.  That's why we have reddit/exmormon.
If it becomes a thread criticizing church leadership, we'll shut it down.  That's why we have mormondialogue.org.

You and I have different definitions of what "spiritual experience" means.  Witnessing humans making mistakes or sinning or being wrong isn't a "spiritual experience" from where I'm standing.

I know one young man who, on his mission, received a vision in a dream in answer to his prayer to better understand Joseph Smith's first vision.  He had done all he could prior to this prayer to understand - lots of study and discussion and prayer, obedience and service.  In the vision/dream, he was told he now had a duty to bear witness of what he'd been given (which is how I heard of it - in sacrament meeting).
I'm not saying everyone will always get this kind of experience, but those willing to work hard, those who already believe God and whatever answer God will give (before receiving the answer - see Ether 3:11), those who are faithful and will continue forward no matter what, just might receive such a gift, if they work hard enough.  And in this case, probably, if they're the sort of person willing and able to keep their mouth shut - in the previous example, it's something already testified to over and over - in this case, the Lord has chosen to remain silent.  So if one wants personal revelation regarding it, one had better be prepared to keep it entirely to oneself to death (and that's no easy burden to bear).

BTW, a weakness of the DEI crowd, is that they want nothing to do with intellectual diversity, aka diversity of opinion/belief.  They're downright uninclusive of such things.
Sometimes, when you're talking about DEI with a DEI supporter, they'll start insulting you or telling you why you're wrong and problematic and racist and saying words that lead to genocide.  Not always, but often.  All you need to do in these cases is let them know you're not feeling the inclusivity, and ask them if they value diverse opinions.  I've never seen one not self-destruct or go dark after such an exchange.  They might continue restating their position, I'll just continue pointing out that I'm not feeling the inclusion.  "You sure seem to hate diverse opinions for someone who says they value diversity.  Can you help me understand why?"   Etc.

I generally agree, but will point out in partial response that the enemies of the Church are *already* emboldened by the mere appointment of a man whom they see as one of their own.  In their paradigm, all they need to do is usurp a few high-profile positions, and then the Church membership like sheep will quietly do the bidding of the libertines.
I don’t want to unduly embarrass the Q15, but part of me also wonders if maybe it isn’t a bad thing for the libertines to know that they’ll never be able to wholly do our thinking for us no matter what positions—or even quorums—some of their allies manage to infiltrate.

As long as I had to delete this dupe, I'll use the space to post something I found concerning. Here, Sherinian celebrates a SC ruling that is not only bad law, but is literally directly counter to the Church's not-so-long-ago efforts in California in support of Proposition 8. Note his hashtags: "LoveisLove" and "MarriageEquality". Sherinian appears to be announcing to the world that homosexual unions are exactly the moral equivalent of heterosexual unions.
This is the man who now heads efforts to represent the Church to media and the world.
I trust in God, and I support my leaders. That I find it most incongruous and concerning that a man with these openly stated social beliefs was hired essentially for Church PR does not negate my trust in God or support of my leaders. But make no mistake, it's incongruous and I'm concerned.

For me and my house, I've followed the guy on Twitter, and I'm trying not to act like a gossipy Pharisee.  I am withholding judgment, and reminding myself of the principles in this talk: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/ensign/1999/08/judge-not-and-judging
Right now, I simply don't have enough information upon which to base a righteous judgment.   "There's potential cause for concern" is about as far as I'm going right now.

I can only hope that this is about bringing the disaffected back into the fold.  But I have serious misgivings about this guy being in charge of what is published on the official Church Newsroom site.

H.P. Lovecraft in his stories talked about how the "mad sawing" of crickets was actually the voices of demons speaking.  If that is accurate, the cicada is the master races of demons.

That is exactly the problem.  I remember the question that Chris Gardner asked the rich guy "What do you do? And how do you do it?"  The rich white man told this down and out black man the answer.  Chris then went after it by doing what the man told him to do.  Now Chris is a multi-millionaire.
Wokesters would rather tear down anyone with wealth so that we're all equally poor rather than allow avenues for everyone to become rich.
