Yourmon.org - Social News Site for Mormons

Have been scouring the intertubes for a site like yours and glad to finally find it. I hope all is going well with it! Perhaps Sweep The Earth can connect with you in some way to provide better food for thought for Church members seeking to do more and better missionary work.
  2. Hi, I hope it is appropriate to mention my new non-profit organization here - Sweep The Earth. The mission of Sweep The Earth is to help members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to fulfill the promise of the Lord to the ancient prophet Enoch regarding our present day: And righteousness will I send down out of heaven; and truth will I send forth out of the earth, to bear testimony of mine Only Begotten … and righteousness and truth will I cause to sweep the earth as with a flood, to gather out mine elect from the four quarters of the earth … – Moses 7:62 We strive to aid in the fulfillment of this divine promise by helping enthusiastic Church members to: 1. Learn about missionary work (D&C 11:21); 2. Share ideas arising from doctrinal study, thoughtful consideration and prayer; 3. Take actions that spread the knowledge of a Savior (Mosiah 3:20) and of the Restoration of the Gospel (2 Ne. 3:12); and 4. Share experiences that they have while taking part in the activities of this community. Our vision is that through our work, LDS Church members will be able to do better, more creative, more effective missionary work by obtaining the word (D&C 11:21), teaching one another good tactics and strategies, sharing creative ideas, and working together with the Lord of the vineyard (Jacob 5:72-73). We hope that Church members will feel great joy as they use our resources to become better at sharing the Gospel with their families, friends and communities. While we focus on serving Church members, we warmly invite anyone who is not a member of the Church to visit our website, take part in discussions and work with us to defend and promote wholesome values on the Web and around the world. We are not an official Church organization, but we support the mission and teachings of the Church in every way. In contrast to the marvelous More Good Foundation, which has always placed special emphasis on the Internet as a missionary tool and seeks to use the Web to inform Church members as well as those who are not, Sweep The Earth gives equal attention to offline and online means of sharing the Gospel, and we have only one target audience - Church members with a passion for missionary work. I invite you to sign up for free at SweepTheEarth.org and participate actively in our member missionary community!

    Misionary work on internett

Hey wait a second! Would you like to help me translate the website of my non-profit, Sweep The Earth? It is totally about missionary work. We are working on the Spanish translation at the moment but we want to have it translated in several other languages by the end of 2011.

    The Grand Council Question

I love this passage: The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth: While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep: When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth: Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him; Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men. - Proverbs 8:22-31
  5. One of the hardest things about the Gospel for me has always been just to keep going. You know - like you get started on something and you feel the Spirit and then it stops communicating with you for a bit so that you can grow - and that is when I tend to get fearful and be like Peter sinking instead of believing he could keep walking on the water. But you just gotta keep walking in faith, and tell the doubt to get behind you.

    Just wanted to say "hey."

Hey there tg - good to meet you - I am new here as well. Raised in the Church but I also consider myself a convert. I live in Denver, CO but have fond memories of the East - grew up for several years in the DC area of Northern Virginia.
  8. Hey everybody, Great to be here. I am Easton and I run a little non-profit called Sweep The Earth that is based in beautiful Denver, CO. Our focus is helping to fulfill Moses 7:62, in which the Lord told the prophet Enoch that in our time, He would flood the earth with righteousness and truth in preparation for His return. So if you like sharing the Gospel, are preparing for a full-time mission, or just want to learn how to be a better member missionary, I invite you to sign up and have some fun with us. Raised in the Church. Grew up in 4 different countries and served in the Peru Trujillo mission from 2000-02. Been working full-time in the social media consulting niche for several years. Anyone who wants help figuring out how to use the Web to accomplish your goals, religious or otherwise, feel free to message me and we can shoot the breeze. Google my name and you should find me pretty easily on Facebook/Twitter/etc. I love the restored Gospel and am deeply humbled to know that a Man I have never met in this life suffered unspeakable torture and paid the complete, incredible price of my sins, so that by His blood-soaked stripes I could be fully healed. It is astonishing to me that it actually works - it is actually real. I know this by the undeniable power of the Holy Ghost, which I have felt thousands of times in my 30 years on this little blue marble sailing through the immense darkness. And I love the Book of Mormon and the great prophet Joseph Smith. I cannot wait to meet that man someday and thank him for all he has done for me. And the book! It is the most powerful and beautiful thing I have ever read. I will never forget how I felt in the summer of 2000 as I studied it carefully for an hour each day, asking God constantly to tell me if it really is true. It was as if a floodlight was shining on me brighter and brighter each day, and a strong armor was placed on me. I did the experiment, and I know for myself. The Book of Mormon is a true history and confirms that Jesus really is the Savior of the world, and that Joseph Smith really did do the will of the Lord and put His authorized church back on the earth. "This is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy." - Alma 29:9
