  1. You are absolutely right that pride is the problem, but not in that they assume they are right, we all do that. Their pride is that they think they are right and are unwilling to continue learning and studying. No individual is 100% right about everything (other than perhaps Christ, but he himself confessed he only acted as the Father directed him to act). So we should all be willing to acknowledge and accept, without exception, that while we are right in some areas we are not right in others. I think the same could be said of denominations within the church. While one denomination is right regarding one doctrine, another denomination is right regarding another. I don't think it is a question of if each group is right about some things and wrong about others. It is a question of which things are we right about and what are we wrong about.
  2. This is the overall problem. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, so there has to be an actual truth and we all (believers in a resurrected Christ) should be pursuing that truth and not listening to the popular or cultural garbage that gets in the way.
  3. I think all believers in Christ can weep about this
  4. Is this not the same type of bashing on the main-stream church that the guy on youtube did to the LDS church?
  5. It seems to me that their are different beliefs within the LDS church. Some of the people within this forum seem to believe almost exactly what I believe as a non-denominational Chistian, but there are many things in the quote above that make our beliefs very different. Is it accurate to assume that some of these topics are not viewed by the LDS church as black and white, or are the people I am relating with more closely just not aware of the official stance of their church?
  6. My main goal in being a part of this forum is to watch the tennis match and try to understand why there is such aggression between my own faith (non-denomination Christianity) and Mormonism, so this conversation is perfectly aligned with what I am seeking. Thanks!
  7. Can anyone tell me whether it is better to use #10 cans or food-grade buckets when creating my food storage? Thanks!
  8. I was also introduced to it at a young age and have battled it the majority of my life. In my opinion it all comes down to a heart issue. Pornography, masturbation, etc are not the battles. The battle is for your son's heart. Teach him the importance of honoring women, honoring himself and above all honoring God. Bottom line is that they are going to sin, whether in this area or another, we all do. Just keep fighting for their heart and even if they do fall into sexual temptations the Holy Spirit will lead them back out of it.
  9. Hello, I have joined this forum out of curiosity. I am a strong Christian and have had a relationship with Christ my entire life. One of my pet peeves is when I overhear someone bashing the Bible and after a short conversation realize they have never read it. To my discredit I think I am guilty of the same thing when it comes to the Book of Mormon. So I am attempting to end my hypocrisy by doing due research. I thought this community would be a good supplement to that research.
