I got a coffee machine...so I sold it to my Mum. Also a pretty awesome edition of The Book of Mormon, and some vintage charms for my bracelet :) Best gift was my first Christmas as home without an argument or fall-out though :)

I find the LDS to be one of the least 'sexist' religions I've ever come across to be honest. Our roles are different, but no calling or status in the Church is less important than another.

At the end of the day I'd say every religion has taken a ribbing at some point. Some people just seem to take it more seriously than others I think.

Yeah that's right, having learnt more since I saw it, there is a lot of inaccuracy. I never really understood the reason for that song, it doesn't add much to the story, and it did make me cringe. Aside from the excessive profanity, it's a good production! :)

I don't mean to offend here, but as I said, I don't think the musical was written to criticise the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with any degree of sincerity, that is, I think it's pretty light-hearted. While I understand that some people would be offended, I think the musical actually, as you've said, did create some genuine interest in the Church, and surely that's a good thing no matter how it came about? I did honestly enjoy it, and I think everyone who has seen it realises that LDS isn't actually like that, just like not all orphanages are like the one in 'Annie'. It's a satirical production, it's common sense to assume that it's been exaggerated for entertainment value. It's a genuinely uplifting musical about friendship, and how much good religion can actually do.

I'm inclined to agree. I think if my husband-to-be didn't want to know about my history, and the things that made me who I am today, and the things that led me to him, I'd have to ask God very seriously if I should be marrying him. That's just me personally though, obviously.

I think it had its moments where its side-splitting, and Elder Price, the main character, is incredibly endearing! I'd agree that Mormons come out looking pretty good, and for all its obviously satirical, I wouldn't say its genuinely offensive, but that's just my opinion.

Personally, as someone with a 'past', I can understand her need to want to share it with the man she loves. I get that nobody would want intimate details about previous 'transgressions', but if you're not willing to hear her out and have the most open relationship possible, should you really be marrying her?

Okay, so I know this might cause some friction, but what did everyone think of 'Book of Mormon: The Musical'? I'll be honest, I thought it was pretty funny in parts.

I actually have a very similar story to you Magnetic! I was raised Catholic but never really connected with the Church, but was always really spiritual. However, due to falling in with the 'wrong crowd' I strayed a lot, got piercings and tattoo's, drank, smoked, and had a massive caffeine dependancy! Since finding God and the Church of Latter-day Saints, I've given up smoking and drinking, stick solely to hot chocolate, and have taken out my piercings. Not much to be done about my tattoo's, but I think of them as reminders of wrongs which led me to God, and his love. I believe that I will be completely forgiven for my transgressions! You will too! I'm now 20 years old, and hoping to be baptised before 2012 :)
