What bothers me about that piece on MSNBC is the pastor's comment about kids being radical like the Muslims... That's all we need in this country is a bunch of kids who think being radical and killing yourself in the name of Christ...

Can anyone link me w/ the news they were witnesses? This obviously is a big subject on many of my message boards and I really feel for the families involved. The elder that died was going home in April I think.

hmmmm....as someone like maureen who has gone through IF and treatment, i don't know what to say about this thread lol just know that a good portion of women who are undergoing IVF in their later years are not doing it out of choice... i have quite a few friends who have been trying to get pregnant the good ole' fashioned way for years upon years and finally resort to IVF in their later years...it's not something they jump up and down and get excited over...

i for one thank you. i have been turned off of this site for many months now due to the "tone" in most posts. as far as the temple discussion, oy!

i'm sure a lot of it has to do w/ the fact that they will be spending the night...plus i'm sure wanting a big priesthood presence is part of that...they're sending them into the really hard hit areas where they will be walking around in muck and tearing down houses...my hubby had to go buy rubber boots and masks and such...not that women can't do that, but i'm sure it's just easier to delegate to a bunch of men... we live outside of chattanooga, so we're only about 10 hours away from NO...i'm a wee worried due to rita, but i don't think the stake president would send our guys into harms way... also want to point out that i'm sure the relief society is doing stuff to help, haven't been to church in a couple of weeks so i couldn't tell you...

great pictures :) our stake is going down 3 different weekends beginning this weekend to help out.... shan: the cleanup work in our stake is left to the priesthood...since they will be gone the entire weekend...

i didn't know that john doe! same situation here: we started "trying" 2 1/2 years into our marriage, it took 2 years to get pregnant (a few miscarriages and an ectopic pregnancy) and he was born shortly after our 5th anniv.

my husband took 8 months to join the church...he, like you, didn't like being pressured. you just have to be firm and ask them politely to back off...let them know you are still highly interested, but that you are needing time to search your soul, the scriptures and your prayers for answers and that you will let them know when you are ready for each next step... are there any members you are comfortable with? that you feel you could confide in? you may let them know, or even the bishop know, that this is making you edgy and you would hate for their eagerness (which that's all it is, missionaries get so excited when someone shows interest, sometimes they can't help themselves) to push you away... best of luck!

hour and half which way? i live up near chattanooga i only know john mason through my mom and my brother...i've heard about his family my whole life...just one of the joys of growing up in a small town that's not so small anymore...

estump where do you live? i grew up in duluth, my mom and sister still live there and i go there every other weekend...couldn't have happened to a nicer family </sarcasm>...john mason is a pig..but still, that chick had SOME NERVE to do that to HER family... gave me quite the chuckle though...
