I don't understand why a policy such as this is buried in a handbook that is not widely publicized to the members. I realize it is available on lds.org, but I stumbled upon it by chance. I have never heard it announced to the general membership that we should reference it or that it was available.

I suggest discussing with a YW leader first, and then the bishop, maybe even having the YW leader with you when you meet with the bishop. I question the appropriateness of a YW discussing such things one on one with a male adult.

Climbing may not have been the greatest example. Paintball may be better. BSA prohibits paintball. Easy way around that is ym activity

That's my point. Say you want to do a climbing activity that is not approved by the council. Do you not do the activity, or relabel it a YM activity instead of scouting to get around it?

While they normally go hand in hand, there are some activities that are restricted by BSA that are not specifically restricted by the church/ym program. What are your thoughts on simply classifying an activity as "ym" to get around the bsa restriction?

I agree. I recommend all chapel nose pickers see their bishop at once before it leads to more serious sin :)

Just to clarify, I am not condoning making out in a chapel. That's what back seats of a Buick are for :)

Do we make as big a deal when we see someone running through the chapel, or loud conversations, eating, casual lounging? All equally as inappropriate but somehow adults making out appears like some great sin. I don't see where anything more than a stern look or asking them to behave or leave is necessary

I don't understand the need to tell a member of the presidency, names or not. While the location may not have been the most appropriate place, we are talking about 2 adults. A simple, Please take that someplace else' seems suffice.
