Correction: That is not a different take from my thread. It is exactly the same take. Conway understood exactly what she was saying; she was being facetious, as anyone with an IQ higher than a bowl of warm oatmeal can plainly see. It's only the imbeciles/liars/fools of the Democrat/media left who are unable to fathom this.

It's not a dichotomy.  He is a liar AND an imbecile.
As Tim Pool like to say (especially in the light of Cuomo finally expressing disgust about the irrationality and hyperpartisanship of his job) - did these journalists think this over... how much will it take for them to sell their souls to stay working at CNN?  Or did they just happily jump into the pool doing these ridiculous stories that pass for news these days?

I've been reading my grandparents' history and I have to tell you, the government during WWII was not an altruistic assembly with pure motives. They told people to recycle their aluminum to help with the war effort even as stores rolled out brand new ones of aluminum cookware. And that's to say nothing of the growing government programs that weren't rescinded after the war was done, the reign of a president who did not voluntarily step down after 2 terms and who threatened to flood the Supreme Court with as many Justices as necessary to get his way.

I must call you out on this.
Hitler ruled Germany for twelve years under a legal emergency decree by the Reichstag.
No supposed emergency ever justifies any compromise of our God given rights. No exceptions.
The decrees so far here in the US  are not even legal IMHO.

These 2 statements are directly contradictory and is a perfect illustration that freedoms enumerated in the Constitution that the government is prevented from usurping, especially Religious Liberty is threatened.
There is NOTHING in the Constitution that provides for ANY exception to the Constitutional limits of government except by invoking Martial Law.  You can choose to give up whatever liberties you want to give up to hide from covid.  The government HAS NO AUTHORITY to force you to give it up.  The fact that YOU, a religious person, thinks that they do is a primal THREAT to religious liberty.  So, yes, thank you for illustrating exactly the reason why I say it is threatened.

Yes, that tends to happen when you deny societies the right to retain a certain degree of homogeneity.
This is a big part of my beef with progressivism.  Every “solution” creates more problems which need still more “solutions”; most of which tend to curtail individual liberty, and nearly all of which tend to magnificently ignore fundamental human nature and the accrued wisdom and practical experience of the societies that have gone before us.
Progressives speak of “diversity”, but what they really mean is that others have to tolerate and eventually accept their own progressive values—and never the reverse.

That's not the way I see it.  Using the State to force people to do what you want isn't liberty.

To add...marriage is a deeply religious undertaking. The Judeo-Christian description of it is part of the creation narrative, predating the law by thousands of years. Indeed, the state often treats people who shack up better (tax wise) than those who marry...the notorious "marriage penalty." Nevertheless, people of faith marry, because it is a spiritual/religious impulse. The other difficulty is that if the government pulls tax-exempt status from some religious entities and not from others, it creates good religion vs. bad religion, as decided by the state. Yikes.

They aren't performing it as an extension of the State.  Just because the State inserted itself in something it shouldn't have doesn't mean it owns that thing.  Marriage existed long before the State decided they owned it.

My push-back on this is that marriage can be civil or religious. I officiate weddings in my role, but only if the inmate agrees that it will be religious and Christian. If s/he wants a civil ceremony, or one of a different religion, I facilitate the approval of their chosen officiant. So, no the state should not remove a religious tax exemption because a religious entity conducts religious ceremonies according to the tenets of their belief system. Besides, most churches still pay property taxes, vehicle taxes, and some probably pay sales taxes. It's our donations that don't get taxed--just like other nonprofits.

Because what I do is none of your business.  Get a JoP to marry you if you don't like my rules.   You don't need a church to get married.

I understand what you're getting at. And I agree with the sentiment.  But I'm making the slippery slope argument.
It doesn't take much for even the most reasonable person to be pushed into authoritative behavior if they feel enough of a threat.  And with the media and the government both in agreement that this is a dangerous situation, that could easily be enough to push an otherwise very reasonable person over the edge.
I realize this was Colorado instead of California. But why was an Antifa group allowed to beat a news blogger to a pulp for standing on neutral ground while filming their protest while the police watched, yet a father was put in handcuffs for playing with his child?
What happens when the next populist President is NOT liberty minded, and are supported by Congress?  What happens if they are socialist?  Boy, I sure don't know of anyone (cough: Sanders) that fits that bill.

Have not read all of thread...long day in hospital w sick relative. I had this issue and there was a list of reasons why only coffee would do. I got my doctor to write me a short note that I took to my bishop. Problem solved. No questions asked.
My doctor, a Muslim, was most entertained but managed to keep a straight face. My meds come w a long list of side effects. Coffee is the least of my worries.

We are going to celebrate Passover this Thursday for the first time in our home.
We love holidays and remembering the God of Israel.
We will no doubt also hide search and eat candy eggs next Sunday.

Sounds like that is changing, leave the Catholic religious calendar out of the discussion. It’s not relevant. Palm Sunday did happen, Good Friday or the crucifixion of Jesus did happen.

We kind of miss the point, you say the cross was not how he completed the atonement. I disagree. His death completed the atonement.

Helaman 14:14-15 For behold, he surely must die that salvation may come; yea, it behooveth him and becometh expedient that he dieth, to bring to pass the resurrection of the dead, that thereby men may be brought into the presence of the Lord.

Lots of people died on crosses but only one was our redeemer and savior. To many the cross represents his last and ultimate sacrifice.

It heartens me to hear the terms used “Good Friday”and “Palm Sunday” when was the last time you heard those used in a sacrament meeting, my limited experience has shown me that we gloss over the Holy Week in our meetings. I am excited for this to be the new normal. To celebrate these holy days as other Christ centric church’s do.

We have been letting this slip, I remember once I had to go to a mass at my daughters school. It was Palm Sunday there services occurred before ours so it was no big deal, I would go to mass @ 9am then our normal services @ 1130.

I’ll tell you what they had a great sermon focused on Christ’s triumphant return. They even handed out crosses made out of palm leafs. I went to our  meeting and they had talks about family history and temple work. I don’t even think it was on anyone’s radar that it was Palm Sunday.

If I may say, and this is just a guess based on observations..... I think it's because we as a whole have forgotten Him in our doings. When I hear members talk about church stuff, I rarely hear The Lord mentioned. It's more focused on things we do practically like the Word of Wisdom, self reliance, and family history. While these definitely are good things, people outside of the church will not associate us with The Lord if we don't show that we do such things because of Him. think about it, we even got commanded to focus on the church's proper name instead of "Mormons". Plus, since we often have used Moroni as a symbol, quite a few think that we worship angels.

I'm totally down with the new logo. I think it's lovely, really great. I appreciate the artistry and the symbolism. But I don't understand why this logo, essentially a branding tool, merited a General Conference announcement, much less a center-stage announcement by the Prophet himself.
I am not criticizing at all; I honestly just don't get it. It seems like a prophetic prime-time General Conference announcement of, I don't know, a new BYU dress standard allowing slightly longer hair for men. If anyone can explain in simple terms, I'd love to know.
