  1. I don't have a clue what messages were deleted from here except for the email notification of a very horrible post calling the Lord "shameful". To whomever deleted the post, thank you so much. I was so upset by it.
  2. I have no clue who Joel Johnson is...sorry. But I do know Joseph Smith... . Back then I believe hot drinks were coffee, tea, and wine, etc. They didn't know about caffeine or its ill effects. Nor did they know about the harmfulness of liquor. The Lord helped them (us) out by revealing to us they are not good for us. Now we know why. So why is it so hard to obey? Tea is hard for me to stay away from. I LOVE ice cold sweet tea. The real sweet tea, not the "just add more sugar and stir" sweet tea. A struggle, but doing great. It will always be something I have to be watching so I don't drink it. Why? Cuz my Bishop said the Lord doesn't approve of it. All I had to "hear". My best to any and all who struggle with tea or coffee....it's a booger.
  3. Laziness. Hate the word or love it....pure lazy. Everything we do takes work...we have to push forward...keep moving. Tons of reasons and excuses; it's all the same. I speak from my comfy spot in the Lazy Boy....LOL. Pure, unadulterated laziness.
  4. Welcome to the group, Olivia!!!!
  5. I had stopped into the the RA's office at BYU. Everyone was standing around talking about it. I was so young and so new in the Church, I really had no clue what it meant, but I knew it was an important revelation. Over the years, I have become close to so many whose lives this revelation has touched. Truly, truly a gift from the Lord.
  6. Hello! Maligayang pagdating sa grupo! Letrell
  7. Welcome, Sunbeep.... Have a seat! (pointing to a chair).
  8. Congratulations and Welcome! So very exciting!!! Which Temple?
  9. Welcome, Flowers! I would love to hear about your Ward. I don't know anyone in Kenya...just what I've seen on TV. I am excited to know you are here. I hope you enjoy your time visiting with everyone! Letrell
  10. Take the cart up the mountainside a piece at a time! It may take longer, but you will certainly get there with energy left! Welcome to the sight. You will like it. Letrell
  11. Uh oh. I am so in trouble now...I actually have enjoyed your posts. LOL. (It wasn't anything you posted.) Or maybe ... LOL.
  12. I don't know how anyone else feels about this thread, but everything inside of me is screaming of a "witch hunt". Somewhere up there is a post that I found so offensive that I felt I had to stand in defense of the Lord. Rather than spew ill-will....I am out of this conversation. It is going nowhere fast.
  13. You just answered the question as did I. :) "moved by the Holy Spirit"... the Lord told them what to include. Am I sure? Nothing wavering. Yep.
  14. I think something is being missed here.... Man does not decide what is and what is not scripture....the Lord does. The church leaders do not "vote" on what is included in scripture. The Lord will tell the living prophet if there is more scripture that He has chosen to reveal to us. Cut and dry. Not sure this really is even debatable. (Did I spell that right?)
  15. Sometimes I think we over think things. Just go tell your Bishop what happened. Satan is gonna do everything he can to make you fall. You are now a truly, viable threat to him...what if you are the only person that can reach into the heart of a brother now struggling to find the truth, and you don't serve? Satan would win. You so can't let that happen. Pray and fast for strength to avoid this. If you have to, stay off the computer. You have come this far...I (we all) are so proud of you as I am certain Father is. You have a strong spirit...even on here...I can sense it. Good job for not hiding this under a rock somewhere and trying to forget it. Deal with it. Move on. Best wishes to you!!!! Letrell
  16. Define "commit"? If you mean change the scriptures and add to them. No. If you mean take the words of the prophets and use them as they are meant, to guide us and direct us...Yes. If you could be a bit more clear in what you are asking, I could probably respond better. Thanks for posting. Letrell
  17. Um...the Law of Moses no longer applies. The Lord was the final sacrifice and His death took us into the Law of Christ. That is gospel. So really, other than for historical reference and educating ourselves, speaking of how the Law of Moses will or will not play a part is a moot conversation. The Law was fulfilled. We have progressed...and there will be other challenges placed before us. :)
  18. I have read many of the posts, but there are just too many to read them all...I have not been following along with a few of the topics, so catch-up is murder!!! Here's my way of thinking... Most people "assume" this strength and health as we would see it, forgetting that it's all relative. The young woman that has a car accident at the age of 32, left never to walk again. Well...suppose this woman would have died or even worse, have been a parapalegic (sp?) had she not been living the word of wisdon and had she not been living the gospel of Jesus Christ, to include living up to her Temple Convenants? A father of 8, righteous, living as he should, etc., has a heart attack....he turns to the Lord pleading to spare his life so he might remain on earth to help his wife and raise his children. He is blessed by the Lord and remains here, open heart surgery, heart repair, and must live his life in a more quiet pace. To him, the blessings of health were granted him.... I'm just sayin...... it's all in how we look at things. Wonderful comments, by the way. I look forward to reading through the rest of them when I have time! Letrell
  19. I am so not as righteous as the women of the ancient days. If my husband were to be called to have another wife, I would smile...say okay, and I certainly would not argue it or question the Lord. However, sorry, I don't believe any of us are going to be called to live the Law of Sarah. Obviously, I am no prophet and I could be wrong...I sincerely doubt it. That said, this is 2013. I would even go so far as to help her prepare for the wedding. Then on the wedding day, I would kiss my husband on the cheek, kiss her on the cheek...wish them nothing but the best, and take my almost 60 year old butt south to live out my days in warmth. My kids are grown. I am not raising someone else's. Would I care if he has a 2nd wife? Not really. Just means he probably won't nag me so much. LOL. I don't mean to make light of this, but honestly, everyone has opinions but fact is...the Lord told us more or less to leave it be. Doctrine and Covenants 132 I put the link there for non-members and/or those that don't have access to the Doctrine & Covenants ("The Doctrine and Covenants is a collection of divine revelations and inspired declarations given for the establishment and regulation of the kingdom of God on the earth in the last days. Although most of the sections are directed to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the messages, warnings, and exhortations are for the benefit of all mankind and contain an invitation to all people everywhere to hear the voice of the Lord Jesus Christ, speaking to them for their temporal well-being and their everlasting salvation.") In the final verse, verse 66, the Lord says, "And now, as pertaining to this law, verily, verily, I say unto you, I will reveal more unto you, hereafter; therefore, let this suffice for the present. Behold, I am Alpha and Omega. Amen." Soooo, I ain't gonna touch this one
  20. BOL. I don't know how I missed this response. Hilarious....
  21. Why do I think you are baiting me? LOL. Okay, I'll bite. A commandment. You are one of the most intelligent posters on here...you know what a commandment is. A command, in this reference, from the Lord to do or not do something. Advice? Everything He has ever said to us is riddled with advice. "Hearken unto Me", "Listen", "Hear my words", etc. When commanded, there is no discussion as to the outcome. Either obey or do not obey. It is still given us to choose. D&C 82:10 "I, the Lord, am bound when ye do what I say; but when ye do not what I say, ye have no promise." In a letter from the First Presidency, dated January 29, 1973, Church members were admonished: “The Lord has so organized His Church that there is accessible to every member—man, woman, and child—a spiritual advisor, and a temporal counselor as well, who knows them intimately and who knows the circumstances and conditions out of which their problems come, and who, by reason of his ordination, is entitled to an endowment from our Heavenly Father of the necessary discernment and inspiration of the Lord to enable him to give the advice which the one in trouble so much needs." Advice. Helping us think through things leading us to ultimately, hopefully, make the correct decisions. How's that? Letrell
  22. I think we are on the same wavelength.... although the Lord really wants us to be happy, it is truly up to us; everything seems to point to us being told we should seek after happiness and by following His commandments and His teachings, we will find happiness. Thank you for that scripture. I like that one, a lot. Letrell
  23. A commandment to be happy? I don't think so. I would love to see that one. We are here to learn, to experience, to gain knowledge; the Lord has blessed us with so very much. What we do with what He gives us truly determines our happiness. King Benjamin, in his address said this: "And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and a happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it." [Mosiah 2:41] Nowhere could I find it to be a "commandment". Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ both want for us eternal happiness. They want us to be happy. And they have both taught us the way to find happiness. Sorry...I totally disagree with it being a commandment. Please show a reference... Thanks. Letrell
