  1. bneders, I totally get where you are because I am right in the middle of the same thing (except my wife hasn't left yet). I would say that many of the advice given to you is great, but it takes two people to make a marriage and if one of them is not willing to get down and do the dirty work, the marriage won't work. I am still trying to figure things out with my wife. She continues to have contact with the guy that she got into the relationship with, which rips my heart out. She says that she would like some time to figure things out, but to be honest I think she is just saying that because she doesn't want to have to deal with the guild of messing up our oldest son's graduation or our second oldest son's baptism. I pray each night for my wife. I go to the temple to seek for guidance and pray for the Lords blessings and blessing of the temple. I am really trying to understand how we got to where we are and what I can do to make positive changes. But a part of me is sure that this won't work because she has already checked out. It is telling when your wife isn't comfortable praying with you. When she isn't comfortable even being around you when you or she showers any more. We are going to counseling, but I really think this is just a front to keep up appearances. Anyway, I would love to chat more. Sounds like we have some of the same challenges ahead of us and could be a source of strength for one another. Good luck and my prayers are with you.

Welcome to the site. Hope that things are going well!
  4. Glad to have you here. Love to get you know you and hope you can find the support you are looking for.
  5. Katie, So glad to have you on the forum. I think you will find many people here who are willing to talk about their expriences in the LDS church. Where in Texas do are you from. I served a mission in Dallas.
  6. Good to have you in the forum, hope that all is well and that you find what you are looking for.
  7. Stacy, I am glad to hear that some of what I said was encouraging. Sometimes it is hard to find someone who understand or know how to support. It's sounds like you had a good experience at Nauvoo. :). Hopefully you can continue to find support. I would look to hear more about your situation and share some of the things going on in my life. Sam
  8. Parakeet, thanks for the support. I look forward to sharing with others and can really use the support.
  9. I did P90X for the 90 days while I was deployed to Afghanistan and loved it. When I finished it I started Insanity and it kicked my butt (in a good way). Now I do a combination of P90X, insanity, and other stuff. I do like having a program that has a bunch of good stuff in it to help me focus my workout and think these types of programs are great.
  10. CTR4Life, I am glad that some of what I said has helped. I know of God's love for each of us, no matter what we do! As we turn to the Savior and seek his power we can find what we need in life to make it through. Would love to share experiences sometime. Perhaps we can help each other through some of the hardships of life. Good luck!!!
  11. So, I know that New Beginnings is something that the church does in the young women's program. This is not that! I am trying something new out for me. I am a 41 yeald old father of 4 boys (17, 14, 6, 4) and work as a psychologist for the U.S. Air Force. Usually I am the one giving out advice and listening to others, but recently I realized that I need a place to go and talk. I returned from a deployment last year and had to move the family immediately after that. As I tried to get adjusted to my new assignment I realized that somethings was off, it was hard getting my feet underneath me. What made this adjustment more difficult is that several months after the move my wife was called as the young women's president. Then a couple months after that I was called as the seminary president. Recently there have been a number of trials of my faith, but thankfully I have been able to keep my focus on the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Lord has strengthed me, provided needed piece, and has helped me see his purpose in my trials. I hope to meet other people who are trying to center their lives in Christ. We are suppose to bear one another's burdens and hope to find a place to share with others. Thanks, Sam
