  1. I agree with others. The law states if you "fast" or give without something that you and the lord have agreed upon (both sides like food) that you will be filled with the holy ghost. The money is not contingent on this. Isaiah 58 mentions this as someone mentioned and says fasting is "to help the poor and needy". Giving money is JUST ONe way to do that. You can find many ways to help the poor and needy. In fact you are fasting for the child who is in NEED and sseeking him. This is one way to fulfill this promise. Remeber it states in the new testament" he that hungers and thirsts after righteousness will be filled with the holy ghost". The holy ghost will "show you all things what you should do". Make sure you make CONSTANT prayer and part of the fast. Kneel 2-3 times a day if possible (called mighty prayer). Also note when fasting great lengths like 3 days you can if you feel you need to do a food only fast WITH water. Or do a 24 hour fast eat a meal and start another fast. Prayer is also just as important so you don't have to fast for like an entire month but can do spurts of it and than have continual prayer between them. Just know. "the will of the lord" will be fulfilled and it may not always be what you want but the faith of others will be taken into account.
  2. Can't have beer but I sure can have my vanilla extract at 35-45% alcohol content. Why do we always talk about the cant's? About the most common that almost every member breaks. Meat to be USED SPARINGLY only in times of famine, and winter or cold. Grains are for the use of Man Including barley and all other herbs. I say if the spirit tells you its ok don't worry about it. I drink my occasional drink of soda with caffeine but not a lot. My vanilla extract I use as well. Beer is off limits but there are many things so similar that are not called beer that also have 1-3% alcohol. Do we drink those? Drugs? Narcotics? Why are we allowed to take these strong medications that are FAR worse than any alcohol drink or beer. Its because THEY are for the use of man WHEN NEEDED. Not to be taken into drunkenness or without need like meat in the summer. I wouldn't even feel guilty drinking a beer to save my life unless the spirit directly told me no if someone drank that poison someone mentioned. ( I wouldn't do it unless the spirit told me too).
  3. This is an important quote. While we should be willing to sacrifice all things including our own families if asked to do so this is a true principle. Hyrum Smith as prophet to the church gave this lecture. Do you have an unbelieving spouse?
  4. Depends on the day. Favorite Chapter Moroni 7 Along wiht Alma 12 (i think its 12 don't want to look) Favorite Doctrine 2 Nephi 31-32 about the doctrine of Christ Favorite verse Favorite book 3 Nephi I really just love it all ya know? And favorite greatest promised blessings to me? Ether 4. Favorite atonement chapter 2 nephi 2/9 lol... Ok thats enough. Don't forget the new testament about the life of JC too thats good stuff.
  5. Pray to heavenly father and have him guide you in the best approach. The Lord may have it come out naturally in a conversation. Pray to have their hearts softened. Either way, the Lord will show you all things which you should do. What feels right? As you read the book of Mormon the Lord will show you what to do or it may come out in that drive before than. Your family is important so I would avoid secrecy as others have said. Accept each other even if your beliefs differ is the ideal but not always plausible.
  6. The war was just as difficult if not more so than the ongoing war we are still fighting right here and now. Elohim and Jesus were a part of it. While Elohim may be presenting the plan and the war is "over that plan" he doesn't fight our battles. We fight our own battles. He will help us (instant smackdown) only if we let him and turn to him else we are left to fight it ourselves which surely we will lose. The darts of the adversary are very powerful and real. Its a very real (mostly unseen) battle but just because we can't see it doesn't mean the battle is not happening. The God's (God, Christ) are fighting the war to the extent of "He[We] shall bruise your[satans] head, and you shall bruise His heel". Thats only true when we rely on God. They allow us not to be bruised past our heels. And will help us become healed from those wounds as well.
  7. I'll partially disagree here. Though I could see truth in it but what did Christ do? His atonement did both. My belief is this for females: Prophetesses Queens Female Apostles They can bless their children by laying on of hands Keeper of the physical veil (womb). I agree with whats been said. They both have equal power separately but when combined they gain a fullness thereof. One of many symbolism's of the creation story is that Eve represents the Body and Adam represents the spirit. When inseparably connected they experience a fulness of joy. Alone they are carnal (body), or lack of godliness (spirit). You could make an argument that Eve is the keeper (guardian) of the spirit but I am not sure. Haven't thought about it much. The female has just a major of a job in forgiveness as men except when it comes to the atonement so again you could make a argument here that Men do the grunt work for "forgiveness" and women do the grunt work of the "physical veil" and protecting/nurturing their offspring. The body is what gives us a fulness of joy. Females allow that to happen. Than a righteous man (Christ) allows us to overcome that. The opposition to the spirit is the body that is needed to grow.
  8. james123, I agree 100%. Further here are some quotes for others: What does it mean to "receive the holy ghost"? Its no wonder why the spirit cannot dwell in unholy temples. This helps us understand the meaning of the temple (building) a little bit more powerfully in our lives. Finally two more quotes for now and I think I have said enough. Lectures on Faith #5. I'll end with what someone else stated already.
  9. Ok I see what you mean now. I agree with this entirely. I do not see "a minimum or maximum point to achieve" I only see what we become versus what we WERE when we started. DID we IMPROVE our time or "un-improve" our time? More we attain in this life "the greater the advantage in the world to come" so is the best C&E? No. We should continue even AFTER to progress. However a "minimum" best I would agree . The ordinances do not matter if we do not become anything. If we become everything without receiving the ordinances than we will be where heavenly father wants us to be. For example, with out charity ye are nothing. For charity never faileth. The ordinances are only symbolic (yet important) of Christlike attribute we should achieve and become. These type of requirements are pointless. Yet they do base them off of "what one can see" not what one cannot see about a person. So we like to compare ourselves to them. Though we cannot see if we have the MP. What about women? The endowment (endowed with power) is given to both male and female. While traveler makes a good point, our time is NOW so we should treat it as such, the sealing power is one example of how a child (wayward, like the prodigal son) can still be pulled into the CK if they eventually repent.
  10. Oath and covenant explains why. Ties sanctification into obtaining the priesthood.
  11. My conjecture is, The 13 month war which precedes the final apocalypse war, will cleans this country from all evil to build up Zion again if we will allow it. Than missionary work will be unrestrained and war will continue in other nations until as joseph said "they will continue to be chastened until they repent" through that great war. I think 2/3 of all men die. Perhaps even Zion (translated) members will be able to be that "nothing less than a miracle" to preach repentance in the worst streets. Missionary work will continue after the New Jerusalem is built, which is built after much war (civil war at the least) and chaos in America. The way I read the news now a days I am afraid we will be in war anyday now. I sure hope I am wrong.
  12. Discount? No. The ordinances are very real. Ask Him. I know he said his family members visited him and told him to do theirs. Either way I heard this from Hugh Nibley. That all temple ordinances will have to be done again. I just remember him relating a story of his mother? grandmother? speaking to the apostle or maybe it was the president and stated "you know all this (endowments) will have to be done all over again... but this does not mean we shouldn't do it" However I did find a variation of that quote:
  13. Absolutely not. But it feels like he is saying I AM. Actually he already said I was on the road to apostasy due to a certain mindset I don't have. Though he probably does think I am, beccause anyone who reads denver and doesn't disagree with him is labeled apostate. That is where my zeal comes from (see his quote below). Removing the label. I already said this, just because people disagree about points of doctrine means nothing. It matters whats in the heart, love, longsufering, etc.. And to better phrase that sentence we should never follow anyone's teachings but Christ. And only the prophets, apostles when they are RECEIVING REVELATION from the Lord and the Lord confirms to you that you should obey. We should RECEIVE them not follow. Meaning not to follow blindly. I've already defended Orson Pratt. He was a true disciple of Christ who was not afraid to admit his weaknesses. Brigham Young. I believe him also to be a disciple of Christ. I believe almost all he taught including many things most people don't believe.
  14. Ah so you guys agree with John Doe... Wait that is what I have been saying myself... Absolutely. Yup and this is what Just_A_Guy is doing. hobby horse to state anyone that does not disagree with denver in all things is wrong. I have no clue what you are saying about met the prophet once ordeal. Anyways I am done. Wasting my time. Elijah \I guess the church is sealing up sinners to eternal life. For that is the power (not KEYS) of Elijah. Wait no there not! Again, "the power of Elijah is sufficient to make our calling and election sure". The church seals families TOGETHER, not to ETERNAL LIFE. That is up to the individual. Elijah gave us the KEYS. The keys is the knowledge of how to perform the ordinances. Its up to us to get that POWER. Yes Joseph Smith had this power ALSO. But that is because he was sealed up to eternal life and received it. Again:
  15. This mindset you have displayed here, to the degree that anyone who doesn't agree with you or Brother Snuffer obviously just hasn't studied it hard enough, is exactly the mindset I've been warning you about. It's the one Snuffer is teaching you to justify and even cultivate; and I'll be blunt: it's the mindset that will, sooner or later, lead you out of the Church when the GA's fail to see things your way. If you agree with Snuffer, and you hold yourself to be right, then the above just isn't true. You do believe that I will be "denied entrance into heaven"--at least, for a thousand-year-period during which I will be suffering the pains of hell along with the rest of the telestial Church. Then why did you feel the need to respond when Finrock and I posted some relatively straightforward and, by most LDS standards, authoritative statements regarding the safety of staying with the Church records and the majority of the Twelve? Were you contending? Why are you allowed to point out the weaknesses (as you perceive them) of the conventional LDS view, but if I point out the weaknesses of Snuffer's view I'm suddenly spurring "contention"? Sidney Rigdon and Oliver Cowdery also saw the Savior. It didn't do Rigdon a heckuva lot of good, and arguably didn't keep Cowdery completely safe either. Did they fall? Are they damned? Did they commit the unpardonable sin?All you have shown is ALL are able to fall. Each and every one of us. Or did they still make it to the celestial kingdom because they received their calling and elections? You don't know my mindset. According to you the entire church sees things different than I do. And LOOK! I'm still here. But hey thats not true. I have had several people PM me and thank me for confirming things that they have started to learn through the spirit. Men and Women who have never read Denver. Honestly that's probably the only reason why I stick around forums anymore. How do I know Denver has not fallen yet? Because one the spirit has told me and two I have met many people who have become converted to the LDS church and others who have seen the savior from reading the Second Comforter book and doing the principles Denver expounds on in the book of mormon. One of these men are in my Ward who was converted by the Holy Ghost during one of Denvers book of mormon study sessions. His fruits lead one into the church to Christ and those with keys. Do I chastise or condemn any of the brethern? No I don't. I have great respect and love for President monson. He grew up with my grandpa and I have had the privledge of meeting him at his funeral and a few other times in my life. These men have helped me on my journey in the gospel and I owe my life for many of them including local leaders.
  16. The acting and art is way better :). I enjoyed it.
  17. People forget how answers to prayers do not neccesarily carry over when they gain new knowledge. For example. If I prayed (and I have) to know if the church is true. I have both got a YES and a NO for an answer. How is that so? You have to be very specific in your quesitons according to the context givin. For example if I prayed to know if I should date a girlfriend. The lord wants to tell me that I should date her but not marry her. So I ask in prayer. Should I date her? But my context of the question, my understanding, if I date her I will marry her. The lord tells me NO. If I ask instead a very specific questioin, should I date here with out any other preconceived thoughts getting in the way. The Lord can give me a yes. Than I should pray if I should marry her and the Lord can tell me no. So if I pray to know if the church is true, it depends on context. What is my definition of True? What do I mean by that? If I have no knowledge about that than most likely the Lord can give a yes because I have no preconceived notions about it. One I develop knowledge of what true means than I have to readjust my question. The same for everything else in the gospel. This is the process of separating traditons of men with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  18. I had stuff written up and deleted it. I don't wish to have this conversation again. I kept some of it anways. Thats the problem. They followed a man. All true prophets point to Christ and none else. Thats how you will know if one has fallen. Do they seek a following or to get gain or only point to Christ? Quotes: I PM'd them to you.
  19. I see your true agenda is to trash the same person over and over again. Your the one that keeps bringing him up. My understanding comes from entirely different sources. The one quote that goes back to that polygamous dissenters was even quoted in General Conference by Packer (Think it was him). I found that out weeks later. You defend that which you have never read or know what you are talking about. Why do you quote things like "finding fault with the leaders leads to apostasy" when that's what you keep trying to do to some man. It applies to all. Charity is what we should all strive for. The Lords servants is ALL who have received the savior as His friend just without the church keys. Not just the 15 men that have the keys. If you have done it unto the least of these you have done it unto me. You are so hard set on this guy along with many other men you have never taken the time to pray and ponder over the things that the Lord would reveal to you to be true. This IS the Lord's Church. He is gathering Zion and all those who will listen and cleansing the church to make it Zion. He is fulfilling HIS purposes through His Church. Were all free to believe how we may and what we want. That is Mormonism. Whether its You or I that errs, the contention is not necessary. I hope you are not offended by what I have written. We will all stand at the judgment seat and be judged for rejecting men who are right before their Lord and have been sent forth by Christ to cry repentance. After all you do believe others will be judged for rejecting missionaries. We are all missionaries. The difference is some have become clean from the blood and sins of this Generation. There are hundreds that have claimed to see Christ. Even those not of our faith. Though its doesn't matter so much about seeing him than receiving the ordinance behind it.
  20. I did give credit but here is another. http://www.lds.net/forums/scripture-study-forum/41201-heber-c-kimball-prophecy.html Its also quoted by Benson in his talk Be Not deceived. A partial version of it. Read that thread it will answer your question.
  21. Lord did not say many are called many are choosen. He said many are called FEW are choosen. The Lord did not say the celestial kingdom would be as the stars in heaven. He said the telestial kingdom was as the stars in heaven. Apparently it is VERY difficult. But I know thats not what you are alluding at as you think I am alluding at something entirely different. So they received the prophets yet it says they rejected the prophets.
  22. I will end this subject with this post. I think enough has been said in this thread. I get the feeling this is happening right now in front of our very eyes. Only those who can recognize God's true servants will endure it through the power of the Holy Ghost.
  23. I was about to post this than your second post popped up. Absolutely. As Joseph Smith said "we should pray for the presiding elder". If we are truly Christlike we won't seek to condemn others but pray for all (as your other thread seeing others as yourself) that WE ALL may all reach their divine potential. ------ I have been thinking about it. Maybe I tend to think what is being said when it snot really being said myself. I have my beliefs and htink that is what is being said, than you have yours and think something else is being said too. Maybe were both doing the same thing. Maybe I don't know what was being said either lol. God hand is still in HIS church. He is watching out for us and extending his arms for us continually and all men. He will redeem Zion and he is using His church to prepare the people for it. It is a great test for us to overcome the tests that are presented to us inside and outside the church. He is fulfilling His purposes. This is my feelings. Look at all the wo's in this chapter. Make a list and see who and why is he (God) is saying these things too. Why? Why are they fully ripe? I think there is a major difference between one who thinks all is not well in Zion than one who seeks to overthrow the kingdom of God. Who seeks out to condemn others and who seeks to make oneself "the new president". The problem as shown in verse 31 is not others its OURSELVES. No matter the state of any other member, the test comes to US. Are we able to recognize and follow the holy spirit?
  24. Here is some deeper thought. Let me quote from the king follet discourse: “If men do not comprehend the character of God, they do not comprehend themselves.”(...ensign/1971/04/the-king-follett-sermon) Why is that? How does this relate to knowing God? Do we know ourselves by knowing God? Or do we know God by knowing ourselves? When do we become like God? What image were we made of? Whos countenance? What changes us or is it always there? 1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass [mirror], darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. • Alma 5:14 14 And now behold, I ask of you, my brethren of the church, have ye spiritually been born of God? Have ye received his image in your countenances? Have ye experienced this mighty change in your hearts? • Alma 5:19 19 I say unto you, can ye look up to God at that day [judgment] with a pure heart and clean hands? I say unto you, can you look up, having the image of God engraven upon your countenances? Are we not all quickened by the same substance? The governance of our spirit, The Holy Ghost? Which communicates with the Holy Spirit which will make us ONE with God if we do so? Once one has "received the Holy Ghost". If we see Christ in us after we have been quickened than are we not also seeing ourselves in others?
  25. I still think you guys are misunderstanding what was being said. If anyone wants to know read 2 Nephi 28 and Isaiah with some Avraham commentary. I won't post it. I too have been told to stay with the church and that is were the spirit wants me to be. After all the Book of mormon is the word of God,Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and the Lord is going to extend his hand to members of the church to build up Zion.
