  1. I was talking to my father on the phone about the LDS faith, before I joined the church, about how big the religion is out here (Utah/Idaho) compared to most other states. Let me start off by stating that he is OBSESSED with genealogy. He was telling me about how he was talking to an LDS man (not sure of the circumstances, but I am fairly certain it was not missions work) and they started talking about genealogy. My father went on with his family line and eventually got to the Whitmer family in this conversation. The LDS man my father was talking to said "Wait... Whitmer, as in David Whitmer?" To which my father replied, "Well, yeah... How'd you know?" The man then explained to my father the role which David Whitmer, and his family, played in their testimony of the golden plates, being witnesses to them. I was curious as to why my family was no longer involved with the LDS church, so I decided to investigate. I've been harping my dad for his genealogy records so I can do some of my own research and do some baptisms for the dead.
  2. Thanks everyone. I'll definitely talk to her about boundaries and group dating. I don't want to ruin this relationship because I've really taken a liking to her and she means a lot to me. Thank you all so much
  3. My girlfriend and I have been dating for a few months now and I need some advice with some stuff. Every now and again we go out, just us, and it seems to always end badly (physically). We know that we do stuff that we shouldn't and yet we continue to do it anyways. I won't go into too much detail, but basically it is inappropriate and disobedient to Heavenly Father's commandments; something that should only be for people who have been married. What should I do about this situation? It's just so hard to resist the temptations sometimes.
  4. I was in a non-Church Scout Troop and the Scoutmaster has been doing his thing for at least 25 years. His son is in his 40's and is one of the Assistant Scoutmasters and is an Eagle Scout. I prefer to have Scoutmasters with some sort of experience. I remember the Scoutmaster in my ward talking about the regulations and rules of the current BSA being very very different from 15-20 years ago. Of course, there could have been a break when he served as a Scoutmaster before and the period he serves now, but I think it is not a good idea to change Scoutmasters so often unless it is absolutely necessary.
  5. In high school, I played basketball with some friends who said I played and look exactly like Dirk Nowitzki, (I had long hair back then). They started calling me Dirk. I will respond to Cody or Dirk, whatever you feel comfortable with. (:
  6. Hello all! My name is Cody Andrews and I recently joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the month of March, this year. It is a great blessing to be apart of the Lord's true church and to be involved on these forums. I look forward to getting to know everyone. Let me know if there is anything you'd like to know.
