Well unless you want me to look like someone from Rocky Horror Picture Show, I'd rather not, being a male and all.

I'd like to tell you off so bad that it would warrant being banned 15 000 times, I'd like to but I can't since I have nothing against you.
Shine on you crazy diamond and...whatever your avatar is supposed to be.

Isn't that a thing everywhere?
they also have egg salad and I've raved on Mormon Egg Salad before.

You are right, though I would more say I see it as not for me, though I can see the good in it. All the people I met were kind and friendly, I can't remember ever being in a place with such little to no animosity.
And this is a town where outsiders are shunned, so they were really filling the love and kindness the rest of the people here just don't have.

Well of course I can control it, I can control myself in speech (eg not swearing when I am at church), and yes I can change. Of course I can.
I think by admiting that I do have faults there is the first step to a grand change.

No, there's a difference between simple belief and bigotry.
Just because someone doesn't believe in same sex marriage doesn't mean they're gonna be all "god hates gays" thing.
If these people were dedicated to pracitising the law fairly for all, then by all means they should.
It is only if they do not should they be punished.

Oh no one could trick me, I am very suspicious lol
More to the point, what does a single, crazed, introverted individual have to offer a family culture anyway?
Oh I remember I had to be less well slinky because the missionaries never knew I had come so I always felt they started their day off kind of bummed out then realized to their shock and amazement (and I could see it on their faces) I had been there the whole time.
It was like stepping into a whole other world of people, I even held my hands differently (the Namaste style).
The only true craziness was me, and it's far (well as far as something can be in a large town).
I was suddenly reminded about a talk a friend and I had, and how she said the church would boot me out and I remember saying how I'd want any talk that I might have given to rhyme...

Lakumi got a reaction from Backroads in If your choice is to be single or to marry out, what should you do?
Yeah I can understand that, but there's other things that baffle me that, originally I just thought was an American Mormon thing but the ones here do it too.
They seem to want nothing to do with the community, all the other churches do a huge amount of things (its always advertized in the paper) and the LDS one never does.
You'd think a church that is actively trying to get members would...I donno, let people know they exist? My family has lived here for decades and had no idea they were there, most don't and this isn't a big city, actually its more like a large town.
Kind of hard to hide things, but they do it pretty well.
One would assume they'd be all gung ho about community involvement, not just their own community. That doesn't exactly draw people in when you keep to yourselves. Any bunch of people who keep to themselves and within their own culture, exclusively, everyone on the outside is gonna think they're weird. People think the Amish and Mennonites are weird, and I try not to think Mormons are weird (at times) but when I hear things akin to "don't marry outsiders, better to be alone then with them"
you're weird!
I'm weird too, it's not a bad thing, but you can't act surprised when people think that's weird.

Lakumi got a reaction from Sunday21 in Do you know of a member married to non member and are very happy with there marrige?
Well it would seem these days, from what I heard, the ratio of active men to active women isn't even. The word from people and the online is women are more active then men are. Who do you choose if there's nobody?

Lakumi got a reaction from Sunday21 in Do you know of a member married to non member and are very happy with there marrige?
That just sounds tremendously sad, not a good way to retain members I think.
Telling people to live alone forever and actually have them live alone forever, doesn't work out as cut and dry.
I never see any of the Mormons at the ward here, and I live in a smallish town. And that ward is actually a good size. But I never see them anywhere, they seem to vanish after church.
No one I ever talked to knew they existed.
So I suppose they're doing a fine job not mixing with the nons, but I can't imagine keeping wholly to yourselves like the amish or something, is a good idea for a church that actively wants new members.
Can't have your cake and eat it too...

In my BoM the first I highlighted was Nephi 2 9:30, it always spoke to me, and still remains my favourite passage.

I disagree, one can have values without religion.
One can have morality without it and one can be a good person while having no faith in something bigger.

Yeah here same sex marriage is legal everywhere, for those who don't know. Also Canada is far less religious then the US.
While belief in God isn't going down, the belief in religion is (23% is none).
I think my father's belief is pretty common- he believes in God but thinks church is corrupt and a waste of time.
It would seem we don't want religion effecting anything since there are so many here-and so many nones.
I for one am glad for that, if I choose a religion-free life, I don't want it in my government regardless, we are a multi cultural nation, why should one rule over all the others?! Why should any rule at all?
They shouldn't.

At the end of the day, its still humans, gay people are just people and can be as cruel and spiteful as straight people.
They're no better or worse most of the time.
Oh and I don't think most Canadians know we even have Mormons

Lakumi got a reaction from Dr T in I wonder...
It's a book about a young wizard girl (witch?) who lives on this island of magic users, and goes to the mainland to explore and collect information because her people are obsessed with keeping records (everyone does it when they reach a certain age there-and can do it multiple times if they are skilled at it, Discordia is on her 3rd well I donno what to call it so for now just called it a mission lol).
She soon learns of a captured princess and goes to free her and the two become friends and form an adventuring party. Only one of two fantasy books I have written that doesn't have any doll characters in it. The other one I wrote when I was 15 and has a lot of swears lol
I wonder why that pepsi tasted so strange.
