I don’t think a female Doctor will do. No offence, but he is married and that would have to be taken into account with the storyline. I think it should be someone not well known outside of G.B. . I personally liked David as the Doctor, for companions Rose for the simple fact that she and the Doctor were in love and they played it so well and it played a big part on the show. Now with Matt and Amy WOW, what a relationship, best friends, son in law, mother in law. Just wow, I cried in angels in Manhattan. The Doctor finally had a family with him and traveling.

Sorry that it has been a long time from my last post. I have just gotten a new book. Its Family Ties A Message for Fathers by L. Tom Perry. I have not finished reading this book, but from the first chapter I can say that it is good. Again I love anything that will make be a better husband, father and priesthood holder.

That’s a first for me. I always was under the impression that one got up to bare their testimony by the inclination of the Holy Spirit; at least that is what I do. But I do have to admit that this is a good tool to have and use to keep people from staring blankly into the walls.

Good, question. Well how they go about doing their research, if they have tracked down actual letters, pictures and documents, and if they have visited any historical church sites.

I just purchased Mormon Doctrine, but I’m not sure what edition or printing. I am working on a curve having to do all my purchases on the net and not being able to actually look at the books. And when the books get here “Kosovo” I will be able to tell, but that will take anywhere from 3 to 4 weeks. I did just purchase one of the gold foiled Book of Mormons, but I am trying to find more information on that edition of the BoM. On another note I can’t wait to get back home to the states to my Wife, Son and Ward.

I only eat wings like every time the wife and I order from papa johns and dominos. Oh yeah and every other week when I’m not deployed.

Can anyone tell me about a Book of Mormon with a gold foil cover with hieroglyphic characters?

I have some bible dictionaries but they are not from the Church. I have had these from my days before membership. I studied theology and was a ordained preacher before joining the LDS Church.

I have just purchased Mormon Doctrine. I don’t know what edition or print yet, got it from amazon. I will definitely let you all know when it gets out here. It will likely take 2 to 3 weeks to get out here to Kosovo were I’m deployed to. But in the end it does not matter much to me what edition or printing it is, I was told that that is a really good book on Mormon doctrine to have to be able to study. Any comments on the book Mormon Doctrine?

So sorry to hear that. I am told that unfortunately that is the way many books end up. For example I saved my quad from a house hold that was going to throw it out because it had water damage, and let me tell you that I love this quad and I use it every day.

No I have not had this happen to me as of yet. I have gotten revelations concerning my family that I must and do judge by heavenly fathers word, the scripture. We have to remember that heavenly father will not contradict himself with revelations. But this all boils down to the main and base point of this and that is obedience. Like we find in Moses 5:6 “ And after many days an angel of the Lord appeared unto Adam, saying: Why dost thou offer sacrifices unto the Lord? And Adam said unto him: I know not, save the Lord commanded me”. I also believe that we have our own personal Liahona to help guide our trip and we should constantly be using it to track our course. And with that in mind we have to remember that everything is within Gods time not ours. So yes you could have gotten the correct revelation that you have a calling to be the EQP but maybe that is not this calling but this calling will help you prepare for what God has prepared for you.

That’s a good question, considering that we are taught that we can receive revelations relating to ourselves. But the bishop can receive revelations concerning his congregation. I would consider both of them valid without a question, but we must submit ourselves to Heavenly Fathers wishes. And on this note, the bishop has been placed in a position of authority over his ward, therefore we must submit to his authority and revelation concerning his ward as long as his teachings are not heretical and clearly against church doctrine and regulations.

I’m currently deployed but back at my home station I have not been able to find a used book shop. And if I did I don’t think that I would find any Mormon based books, considering I live outside of Utah. I have been thinking of getting a BoM in every language of every country that I have been assigned to.

I have currently used Amazon and eBay to find some books. I’m out of Utah so I don’t think that my local ward has a book shop, but I will find out.

Eowyn, Have you read the Silmarillion, its J.R.R Tolkien’s life long work. It sets everything up for the lord of the rings world.

That’s pretty cool. I’m actually in the process of purchasing a Mormon Doctrine but it’s kind of hard to locate books, I’m currently deployed. Are there any web sites that you recommend for purchasing and finding books?

I have recently come to the realization that I am a book collector and did not even know it. I have decided to somewhat specify my collection in to two categories. The first being Books of Mormon, I want to try to get one from each printing and editions. For example I was just able to purchase a BoM that is from 1975 paperback and its blue with the angle Moroni on the cover. My next book of Mormon that I want to get for my collection is the Blue hard back with the angle Moroni on the cover. Now the second set of categories will deal with church doctrine and history. Well that is a lot of rant to just ask if there are any other members that fancy themselves as book collectors or have not taken a look at their books and just realize that “hey I guess I do have a collection of books”. Well if you do, what type of books do you all collect? I was wondering if we could form a group of book collectors to share our experiences and knowledge on the subject of book collecting.

I am currently deployed and this is one of the books that I have brought with me to read. I have been so busy that I have only read the introduction of it. I also have to admit that I am also currently reading another book as well, Doctrinal Details of the Plan of Salvation from Premortality to Exaltation by David J. Ridges. And I’m also reading Miracle of Forgiveness. But with my work schedule I don’t have much time for reading.

Hello everyone I’m new here and just wanted to introduce myself. I am a Mormon and have been for some time now. I guess I’m not your typical Mormon though, I have plenty of tattoos (prior to my baptism) and I am currently active duty in the us army. I have been pondering the entire blogging thing but I have not gotten there yet. I love collecting books of Mormon and any books having to do with the Mormon faith. I have a wonderful wife that I was able to baptize before coming out on this current deployment and I also have a wonderful and healthy baby boy that I was able to give his blessing before heading out here as well. I thank Heavenly Father daily for the power of Jesus Christ’s atonement that as non perfect beings I believe that we use every day.
