    Penitence

Penitence How long ‘til anxious tears be dry? And quivered sobs hold sway? In earnest supplication, I For greater wisdom, pray. On my knees in pauper’s pose Pleading for my heart’s respite Writhing in these fervent throes A broken spirit made contrite Stripped of all the self-conceits And vanity, my ego’s pride Confessing all occult deceits Smoldering unplumbed inside With all humility I must confide And offer up sincere regret With restitution thus applied Maybe then can I forget? Oh blessed Lord, hear my heart Undeserving though I be Let thy forgiving glance impart And feel Thee smiling down on me. Aeglyn April 2015

    Opinions

‘Opinions’ It’s pretty clear to me How differently we see And not at all as close As I had dreamed. But one thing it could be That is, if you agree, For sake of argument Let’s not get all steamed. Let’s pretend in pleasantry And consent to disagree So that both of us Have cause to be redeemed Let’s be therefore free Which I believe is key And leave each other’s view In high esteem. 7. 'One True Home' What veil blinds our memory That we know not Our life before These long eons past? Bound in earthly vessels We are agents unto ourselves To sow seeds of our natures And reap our ripe rewards. Walk we willing In meek surrender The footed path Trod in perfect grace? To prove faith's resolve When in life's disarray Endured 'til mortal end The tally of our deeds. Onward do we then grow Into the long eternities Surrounded by the brightness Of our Parents outstretched arms And our remembered Home above. Aeglyn - Sept. 2013
  8. "With fond regards" Anxious of hopeful empathy, I toil my wits to endless bounds To succor disaffection's grief And pine a cherished touch so brief With nary a silent, swallowed sound. Ever vigilant, I labor on Searching others' warm displays. Embracing idle, gentle grace I portray a patient, smiling face And pray no angst, from me, conveys. I stand, still poised for tender suit Pressing on in ardent charm A tender flame's reserve restored And sweet curiosity explored So unexpectedly disarmed. -Aeglyn Feb 2012

    Peace

Peace Peace, my heart of hearts Cease this fleeting quiver O'er paths we soon depart Dark is the way and I shiver Peace, my troubled mind Unseemly thoughts rebel O'er paths we leave behind Where I wind up, who can tell? Peace, my grieving soul Let fall this sorrowful, damning pain O'er paths with no more tolls Let me not, by bitterness, be stained Peace, my weeping eyes Let not one more drop be shed O'er paths with no more ties Better life by far than dead. Peace, peace, beloved spirit Chase me not from sacred sites O'er wondrous paths, let me share it Lit by love and inner light. Peace, peace, peace. I yearn for it's sweet return O'er lingering doubts, I must cease And take the bend 'round the next turn. -Aeglyn circa 1990s
  10. “Still small voice” I feel a soothing peace Deep within my heart Tranquil in its notice A message to impart A whisper of the soul A voice remembered well It speaks redeeming love Within this earthy shell It quivers in my body Like an arrow pointing home A blessing of the spirit To light the path I roam. A hopeful glorious future To all who are so blest That listen to this giving Oh, so quietly expressed. Aeglyn Dec. 2014

    My Prayer

Father in Heaven, I thank thee for every moment, heartbeat and breath I thank thee for this earth And these bodies so blessed For our freedom to choose To do what is right in thy sight No matter world views I thank thee for our family and friends And would treat kindly with them Always as thou would intend. I thank thee for life’s experience That teach us compassion, wisdom Charity and perseverance I thank thee for giving thine only begotten Who paid the cost of all of our sins To remember Him always, not forgotten. Let us not fear our future And grieve no more pains of our past Lead us by thy hand, our Tutor Too all goodly endeavors and deeds In service, love and charity To our brother’s and sister’s needs Bless their lives as thou has blest ours Let us feel the warm tears of joy And upon them all blessings shower Strengthen us to stand in the light That we may find peace amid chaos In the hurricane of the world’s plight. Watch over and protect those we love With angels sent from thy presence above Let all our thoughts to thee bend Uphold us to endure to our end Open the path Father, not just for me That we all may find our way Home to thee. 14. Oh that you could see my soul And ferret my intentions To see how I play my role Devoid of all pretensions. I am a youth within this shell That carries no ambition In aged flesh my spirit dwells A seeming false condition. For, in truth, this temple mine Has the fire of His impression Eternal and sublime Forever forward in progression. Doubtless and sure My life is pure devotion With growing faith, I endure Led by loving inspiration. Will I see thee on the road? Acting with compassion? Striding to our high abode Earning your admission? Oh man, blessed be your way In all sincere affection Courage to believe, I pray On the path to your perfection. Aeglyn 2014

    Offerings

Offerings It was broken early on Way back when I was young Barely mended, broke again My world just came unstrung. Years in the healing Over so great a loss Once again it shattered And grief became my cross. Left with bits and pieces Crippled and alone Rescued with a prayer Facing my great unknown. They came and taught me hope When life was all in doubt Placed it on the altar And Father heard me cry out. Tentatively do I reach Mindful of the cost Cautiously I travel on Remembering what I lost. So I manage best I can Each and every day Hopeful it will heal whole His love will show the way. Aeglyn 2014
  16. I haven't tried Brin's work yet. I will look into it though, thanks. For a real treat, try reading Roger Zelasny's Amber series. It starts with "Nine princes in Amber".
  17. very good. :) I like how that all made sense and fit together.
  18. I really enjoyed this one, Ron. Nice weaving of thought process and life progression here. Good work!
  19. I thought this might be a more appropriate forum for this work. I intend to send more of what I wrote before on here that others might possibly enjoy reading. Thank you, Ron. :)
  20. Sending out light into the world ... :)
  21. "The Last Dark" by Stephen R. Donaldson. The last book in the 3rd (and final) series of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever. (9 books overall) Dark book about fighting one's despair in a real work vs an imagined one with real consequences. Difficult to read at times but the story is compelling. The first book is "Lord Foul's Bane". By far, my favorite author is C.J. Cherryh. She has several series of books that are all phenomenal to read. My favorites are "The Dreaming Tree" (2 books on roughly based on gaelic mythology); The Morgaine Cycle (5 books); Foreigner series (incredibly epic scifi); Chanur series. (scifi) Faith based reading: Finished "Believing Christ" (must read!) and "Life Everlasting". (very interesting read); Joseph Smith Papers Vol 1. Scriptures every night. P.S. -Love Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game". I have read the book countless times. Watched the movie recently. It was decent, I thought.
  22. How do i put into words The beauty my eyes behold In crisp, simple mornings At once warm and cold? How does one walk And not see the trees Majestic and tall Wrestling the breeze? How can you not hear The morning prayer of doves And whispered wings flying In clear airs above? What heartstring is so broken And so out of tune It cannot be mended On a clear blue afternoon? Oh gentle wind on my face So quiet to my ears I breathe in all the joy With my eyes full of tears. Aeglyn 2013

  24. Hi Ron! I look forward to posting soon as well. Happy to have followed you over to this site. :)
  25. I am happy to be a part of this site having followed my friend Ron65 over from one of our poetry boards. I am a native Californian born in San Francisco and raised in San Diego. I have been a convert since 16 years of age. The only member in my entire family (that I know of) I have just recently been active in the last 3 years and have my temple recommend. I am 61, divorced (sadly) have 3 children of which 2 are still earthbound. My eldest daughter and my youngest daughter. My only son passed away over 22 years ago when he was 15. I enjoy and appreciate my membership in the church deeply. I do like to write poetry of a spiritual nature (and on other topics) and look forward to reading everyone else's work too. I use the pen name of Aeglyn for all my work. More later or upon request. :) Chris
