Ok, Traveler. This is completely off topic on my part, but I just have to know. Forgive me. But why do you always type the word God as "G-d". Not a relevent question, I know. Just curiosity.Now back to topic. I, to like that parable. I read in a post somewhere that the Samaritan represented Jesus due to the fact that a Samaritan was a mixed religion and Jesus was also "mixed" (for lack of word) as he was part human and part God.

To put it simply, "adieu" was the word Joseph Smith chose to use to represent what Nephi? (was it?) said or meant when he said what he said. For those who don't know, a prophet usually speaks with his own words while expressing the thoughts he is given from the Lord, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Or in other words, our Lord and the Holy Ghost don't always give prophets the exact words to use when giving inspiration and revelation, and instead they usually give thoughts and impressions which are interpreted into words by the prophet who receives them. And for those who want some evidence of this, study the words of the prophets and you should be able to notice that every prophet has their own way of saying or writing certain things, even though they are all basically saying the same things, and even though some prophets give a little more detail or express their thoughts in words that are easier for others to understand. And btw, Joseph Smith was fairly familiar with the Bible both before and after he was ordained as an apostle of our Lord, and sometimes he chose to use some of those words in the Bible to translate what the Nephites had written in their scriptures. For instance, the Nephites didn't speak in the King James vernacular either. Joseph could have simply used the word(s) from HIS frame of reference to express what the Spirit was telling him. It is an almost word for word quote of Christ talking to the Pharisees with just the names changed to charge the guilty - 100 years before Christ uttered the complaint. Here is a story: before my 6 year old could read she would get frustrated because she knew that those little black symbols at the bottom of a page meant something but try as she might it just didn't make sense. My heart ached for her, so I told her that she would have to be patient and trust me that these symbols really were words and that one day she would read on her own.She had to go on faith until she learned on her own. The Book of Mormon is true!! Not a portion here and a portion there.... the whole book is true! You are going to drive yourself crazy trying to convince yourself. Go on faith, go to the Father. It can also be found in 3 Nephi 14:6 and again in the D&C 41: 6 Could we have been better missionaries? Perhaps. Maybe if the poster had a sincere heart. But there is no sense doing missionary work with a person who will trample it under their feet. In First Sin's own words "he is a member in ........ and has since moved to ......." He has made his own choices & seems to love to blame others for them. He also chooses to go into the chatroom & attack what is very dear to many of us. He does not like to be corrected either...... Hi churchgirl. Have you found your references for Rabbi's having to be married or polygamist? I have found several site in "Google" but some say they do have to be married and others say no. I'm really curious about it all !

I once took a class in Chuch that discussed Gary Chapman's book "The five love language" and our teacher said the parable of the prodigal son had all five "love languages " present in that parable. The languages are 1. touch 2. gifts 3. affirmation 4. sevice 5. quality time. It has since beome my favorite parable because it has taken on new meaning for me. I have a bad habbit of reading a book from back to front when I'm checking it out in a store. I want to know if the chapters leading up to the end will disappoint or not. The closer I get to the front of the book without being board the better the book is. LOL!! Oprah, I ain't!!

Not sure what a parable telling us to be prepared for the coming of Christ is related to what we're talking about. One would have to be blind to not see that the parable is conveying a message about being prepared, but is also using a polygamist example to make the point. First, these women were not just friends or relatives of the bride or groom (the term virgin would then not be used -- young women identified as virgins generally meant they were available and desirable for marriage. Second, if they were virgins (and just friends) would any father of that period have left them alone with a man without some sort of chaperone? Third, just read the parable -- 5 women didn't measure up for the marriage. Now I am not saying the five women were all Jesus's wives as I don't see evidence of that anywhere. However, try having a person from a culture that has not been brainwashed to believe that polygamy is immoral and if they read the parable I think they will get what it's all about. And Jesus using such a parable (without any reference to condemning the relationship) implies acceptance of the practice of polygamy. oh brother !

Oh Whew! You had me scared there! Ok, seriouly though and I know it's just my humble feelings, but I truly believe that Jesus would have obeyed the Jewish Traditions of the day and that he would also fullfill all the requirments of his Father. Now I don't know if it was in the pre-existence or on earth or when he returned but I do beleive He fullfilled " all the laws and the prophets". Every law. But bear in mind that he lived a higher law then the people so when the people accused Him of Sabbot breaking, he was not in error (how could He be?) he was living and teaching a higher level of law. But I'm my opinion, and it's just that ... opinion, Jesus did not escape any laws thus becoming our perfect judge.

I'm refering to His teaching as "Rabbi" and not to his teaching outside of the temple on the steps. And the people were astonished of his wisdom. In order to be able to teach inside the temple he would have to have reached a certain age and be married or he would not be accepted. You couldn't even reach the scrolls until a certain age, let alone be a Rabbi.

[ If Jesus wasn't married when he began preaching, the scribes, rabbis and other Jewish "authorities" might not have taken him seriously. But Jesus didn't care about placating the authorities. Even if it wasn't for this reason i still feel that he would have fullfilled his Jewish obligations.

Click on the first one. As for the question could Jesus have been married in the pre-existence I speculate that it could have happened. He was a God in the pre-existence and in order to become one you need to be married. Jesus was spiritually far more advanced then the average joe so he would have been spiritually, mentally, emotionally prepared for marriage long before coming to earth. Another thought, men on earth can and have been sealed to more than one wife for example, man and wife get sealed and wife dies. Man remarries and gets sealed to a second wife. So why wouldn't Jesus get married for a second time? Or what about men who get married and sealed for "time and eternity" and when widowed remarry for time only? Who is to say that not only did Jesus marry but had more than one wife? Marry one in the pre-existence to fullfill the Celetsial Laws and marry again on earth to fulfill the earthly laws as well as the Jewish laws for men at that time. He would have to marry in order to be taken seriously as a teacher.
