This story is full of holes. I suspect there is not an element of tuth in it.

Honestly, if put in that uber-tough position, I would go straight to the Lord for options.  I would not try to proscribe "ok" options from the outside.  That's a highly personal highly individual things.

No I didn't. Can you please tell me the story?
I offered my dentist candy once. He declined.

John is dating Lorraine.  Lorraine's best friend Clarely came home from her mission and met John.  John fell in love with Clarely and Clarely fell in love with John but John couldn't break up with Lorraine because he doesn't want Lorraine to get hurt and put a pall on his future relationship with Clarely.  One day, Lorraine sat John down and told him she's going on a mission and so she will have to break up with him because she wants to focus on her mission and she doesn't want John to wait for her because by the time she returns she would be a different person.  Lorraine then got on a plane for the MTC.  Instead of getting devastated, John ended up singing, "I can see Clarely now, Lorraine is gone."

The problem always comes because people also want you to believe they are right.  And if you don't, then you must not have listened nor understood them.
My husband is the perfect example of <whatever word it is we want to use for this>.  He says this a lot - I don't understand you, I think it's stupid and wrong, but go ahead and knock yourself out.  I'm not going anywhere.
If he thinks it's stupid or wrong, then I'm doing it on my own.  And sure enough, whether I succeed or fail, he's right there.  And yeah, he has no problem saying, Whoa, great job! or See, I told you so! at the end.  But, it doesn't matter, because when I wake up every morning, as sure as the sun shines every morning, he's still there.

I certainly didn't enjoy it either although I would have been willing to continue if the right classes had been available. Once upon a time I could analyse phonetically, but that ability disappeared pretty soon after I dropped the subject.

I'm not sure what it is about pies and ears that is worth celebrating, unless we are talking about a really really good Aussie meat pie

I certainly remember Ballroom Blitz but the biggest hit that I remember from Sweet is Fox on the Run. That was the one that most people got up for.

I've always been a little envious of people who are multi lingual. So when you decide to revert to your atheist vocab, is it a well considered decision taking into account all the relevant factors, or is it more of a spur of the moment kind of thing?

Which reminds me of the one about the 3 men at the restroom of an international airport: One was Finnish, one was Russian, and one was European.

I see some similiarities with modern day prophets. Sadly, more than 99.9% of the world do not believe that they say.

I'm looking at the link here in the above post. It almost reads great shall be the piercings of thy children, which would be kind of funny given the actual text of the message

Thanks for your "ramblings" @zil I find them to be helpful and thought provoking and appreciate the time you've taken to set out your thoughts.
On another matter, it seems that the saying "Am I incapable of pounding a nail into a board because I need a hammer to do so" is saying pretty much the same thing as "there's more than one way to skin a cat." I had thought that might be the case but i wasn't sure.

I know its been a bit but I figure if you are still following this thread you might be interested in an update.

This evening he was received his call and was set apart as a Youth Church Service Missionary,  (See here for details of that if you are interested https://www.lds.org/callings/missionary/church-service-missionary/ycsm/?lang=eng)  His field of labor will be in the Church Office Building where he will support the efforts of the church publishing department. This department handles the creation of church video (including temple videos) and flyers, pamphlets, handout cards, etc.  Including special request from General Authorities.
At least that is what I am told.  This is all kinds of new and different territory for me.  When we started I didn't even know something like this was an option.

Dude, go back and read again - he wasn't talking about people making it to the moon, he was talking about the moon landing!  I'm not sure, but it's possible he hit his head.

I really appreciate this line of thinking, and I think this is how we should think about things most of the time.  It is the same context in which we say that such and such president of the USA accomplished x/y/z thing, or such and such person built x/y/z building; those things were not accomplished alone, but it is still that person, the decision maker, or 'man in charge' who receives the acclaim for the accomplishment.
I also think that understanding the technical truth is valuable.  To my understanding the technical truth is that there are some things God is unable to do, not because he lacks the power to do it, but because the power to do it doesn't exist.  I outlined this concept in one of my first posts in the forum about God's omnipotence.
My response above applies here as well.  Yes, it is consistent with our doctrine to believe that God is omnipotent and that yet there are things He is technically unable to do, or unable to accomplish all on His own.  I believe this concept would fully address the conundrum you presented.
