More and more LDS women are working outside the home and having fewer babies. So they aren't listening to you.

Clearly, I know there are different kinds of people who consider themselves "patriarchal". There are those who think it's okay to slap a woman on the bum, make comments about her body, those kind. I can not in my wildest dreams imagine you as one of them. They are boorish, rude, and society is telling them that their behavior is unacceptable. So they better learn quick.

The other kind are those who think that women shouldn't be educated, shouldn't work outside the home, should just pop out babies. Society isn't telling those kind of men to change-it's too late. Society already has changed, leaving them behind.

They will not be making a KOTOR film. They will have it during the High Republic about 500 years before these films. Also, all the dreams of a Darth Revan are just that, dreams. They will do new stuff and just steal plot lines, unofficially, from the old canon.

    My response to your items:
    1. Yes, I looked at my watch and sighed because there was still an hour to go.
    2. Indeed, the force slip of an items was actually kind of cool. And the Solo shrug right after it happened, delightful.
    3. Agreed.
    4. Made me laugh like Han Solo in Episode 4.
    5. The acting was stiff and lazy, they all phoned it in, except Adam, he was fantastic.
    6. The whole reason they were wearing a helmet is because the actor can barely walk without a cane.
    7. All the crew of the destroyer had to do was roll the ship about 60 degrees to starboard.
    8. indeed. She and the other new girl were there to un-gay the two men.
One other item, a certain character was obviously feeling the force and they went no where with it. dumb.

I just watched this movie last night and I would rate it a 5/10 (if not Star Wars I would probably have rated it lower). These are the reasons for me:
    1. It was very slow. An hour into it I was wondering how soon it would end. I could have fallen asleep but kept my eyes open just to say I finished it
    2. Too predictable. Except for the very end with Kylo Ren
    3. Appeared to try to hard to make it great, failed miserably
    4. She had trouble with the toy lazer shooter to be a jedi (how many times did she get hit with her eyes open?)
    5. The acting seemed really off beat
    6. Bringing back a certain character was just silly to me, there is a point when something that is unbelievable really can't be made believable even by the force.
    7. Specific animals on a Destroyer (almost laughed instead of yelling awesome in my mind)
    8. Thought they were going to create a love triangle with a storm trooper who gets a "feeling" -- too predictable. Gag.

Current round of geopolitical drama is all over except for the yelling.  Neither side wanted a war, it became a game to de-escalate while saving face.
Iran lobbed some missiles at us, after quietly getting 90 minutes warning to us.  They get to claim they've struck an overpowering blow against the great satan and killed many Americans.  Trump gave a big press conference re-emphasizing no nukes for Iran, dismissing the missile attack as minimal with no loss of US life.   All done for this round.
As the dust settles, I see Trump as having sent a clear message - don't screw with our embassies or else.  I don't expect anything to really change in the region, I'm fully expecting Iran to stop being so obvious and direct, and return to working through third parties, as we are.

I think Trump did the right thing this time by deescalating the situation. He's like the old school father who takes his belt off, yells and screams as the kids but deep inside has no intention of actually hitting them with it.

I agree with @Scott - We are bigger, stronger and can easily take out a piranha - but it is not a good idea to have your finger in a tank with a piranha to see what will happen next - and then when the piranha attacks - get upset about it.

That's surprising, I always assumed you were a leader in the radical feminist movement. Robin Morgan and.... @Vort

And you are, of course, free to spread your ideology and tell the world. Just know that the world doesn't have to listen to you anymore than you have to listen to the world.

    This man agrees too.

The good news is that society, and yes, the church, is changing. If you are a misogynist or hardcore patriarchal, you better keep that behavior to yourself. Society is getting less and less tolerant of boorish behavior.

I think some of those "complaints" are based in humor. When I first joined the church I mentioned to someone that I had never been to Utah. She said "Don't go there, they'll sneer at you for taking the sacrament with the wrong hand." I said, "Where are you from?" Without missing a beat, she said "Utah." And oh yeah, she was hardly a "liberal" or an "anti". In fact, she was an extremely conservative member but had this amazing thing called "a sense of humor."

You misunderstood what I was saying.  My experience is the "gross" side is making the statement while looking down their noses at the "net" side.  Christ says it isn't okay for me to punch the self righteous in the face (as you can see I have other issues then self righteousness to control.)

This debate reminds me of one I endured in Elder's Quorum many years ago.  The lesson was on the law of the fast.  One brother raised his hand and asked if you swallow the water after brushing your teeth did you just violate your fast.

The 'mom', the 'son', the 'mystery silence', the whole story... was just that... probably nothing more than a story.
Despite the story, perhaps there are still little nuggets of advice on the thread that future readers can glean from it, starting with being honest.

I am as hardcore a patriarch as there is. Well, that's not true: God is way more of a patriarch than I'll ever be, at least in this reality. But in any case, I have no intention of "keeping it to myself". Any decent man (or woman) glories in patriarchy. The converse is very probably also true.
There is nothing boorish about patriarchy. That is just another feminist redefinition.

A proper man of God isn't an misogynist.  A proper man of God respect and loves woman, and treats her has his equal help-mate.  The #MeToo movement supports this Christ-like behavior in encouraging people (of both genders) who've been hurt to speak up, and encouraging people (of both genders) to treat each other with respect.

In fairness to you NT, everyone likes making jokes about "Florida Man", "Alabama Rednecks" and "California Hippies" but then they turn into sniveling babies when someone says the slightest joke about their own state, or a state where their friends and family live. So don't be too hasty to condemn yourself for being too sarcastic.

A large majority of the people I have had the "Utah Mormon" conversations with are really talking about one of two things.  Utah valley culture and BYU culture.  The last person I had this conversation with was on a serious anti-Utah Mormon rant.  I got him talking about it in greater detail and he was telling me how awful it was living in Utah.  Turns out his entire living in Utah experience was his four years living on the BYU campus.  I pointed out to him that about 70% of the student population he was having issues with were not Utahns.  His expression was priceless.
