  1. Major details? Yeah, a few years worth. No one wants to read a novel about it. I would not use allow either. Mexico, along with other countries have been worked on, but yet, it is difficult to live with no real income in those places and natives feeling threatened by foreigners in jobs of higher pay.
  2. I asked this question because it is kind of happening in my life. I have been married for 11 years to my lovely wife. Well, a year after marriage, we ran into an issue, and she had to stay in Mexico (she wasn't illegal, just we should have never left the US to visit her family at that time.) Now, having been denied her visa twice over the years, she requested a divorce because, apparently, it is easier to enter being a fiancee rather than a wife. We were married in the temple, but the divorce is superficial rather than really of any efficacy for us.
  3. A question on sealing I would like to have a second, or fourteenth, opinion on. So avoiding a complicated story and conditionals within, a couple is sealed and through the transcourse of their life, it becomes possible that to be together, a divorce may be needed. So having been sealed, but civilly divorced, are they still married or are they not? Assuming that they still love each other and haven't cheated, are they still one flesh in God's eyes, seeing how God deems the sealing as valid rather than civil?
  4. I just took the survey. It seems a little odd. I don't know who it is doing the survey really, and not much time to investigate it, but it appears to try to force someone to say something needs to change in the church. The group who created it has either an education in psychology or is full of psychologists. Some of the questions are just like poking a lion to have a response.
  5. Well, I am reading a lot of opinions on the matter and not much in terms of sciptures to back anything up. Although I do recognize the Ensign, Institute Manual, and Talmage as reputable sources, they received their information somewhere, not just mystically through the internet or newspaper, wichever existed in their day. As for what is written regarding the subject, Alma 41:3-5 and D&C 88:32 seem to cover the subject fairly well. Alma 41:3-5 - We are raised in happiness according to our desire for happiness, raised in evil according to our desire for evil. D&C 88:32 - "...To enjoy that which they are willing to receive, because they were not willing to enjoy that which they might have received." Alma is paraphrased, D&C quoted. From these scriptures, I have formed my conclusion (which follows) that we will be happy with what is returned to us after this mortal estate. We act, react, despise, and enjoy the things here that we will in our next estate. We will still be us; no miraculous change in our personality to make us suddenly not enjoy those things of our life here which brought us enjoyment. The same goes for the despisement of things. Our end result will be something that we will enjoy, due to our lives 'focusing' in on that 'enjoyment,' the direction of our life as a whole. In the end, if you don't know how good something is, you won't miss not having it. If you are not acting to the level of Celestial Glory in mortality, you won't miss it and you will be enjoying fully whatever befalls you in Judgement. That being said, they may go on forever, maybe improving themselves to ultimately reach the maximum which can be obtained from their starting point under the auspice of Eternal Progression.
  6. I will second the praying situation. Although most members vehemently insist that a mission is what to do, as of yet it remains a personal decision. Ponder it in your head, pray sincerely about it, and follow the promptings/feelings you receive with respect to the situation. Also, it seems from the post that you may have already decided. Pray to see if that decision is what you should do...it's easier for a yes/no response.
  7. Welcome in Ashley! I just joined the forum here, but a member since age 8, raised in the LDS church. As for your question, I enjoyed all of the Book of Mormon, except for the parts quoted of Isaiah, which are admittedly underappreciated by people as a whole. Also, when reading it, I would recommend you to read the Title Page and all of the pages before 1 Nephi begins. A nice task is to link the pages you are reading with the Brief Explanation about the Book of Mormon as well, which may be perhaps better for the second time through due to familiarization. If understood with the reading of the book, it can actually open up a deeper understanding of the timeline of the book, since it is not entirely chronological. Cheers!
