  1. INTJ - I think I'm borderline on the F/T, but don't know the numbers on the others.
  2. I have yet to see the movies, but I read the books. I think the point Collins is trying to make is a social one, not necessarily a political one. The people of Capitol City weren't necessarily bad, yet I remember being shocked to read about how they would eat so much food, throw it up, and eat more just because it was there, completely oblivious to what was happening in the outer districts. And, although they seemed to be in a state of bliss or pleasure, there were many of them that did not like being subjected to President Snow's rule, finally realizing that pleasure is not happiness. @Tyler: What Windseeker said was that the story takes place in North America, not representing it. Also, sure, we have enough money and food to go around, but there are many places where it is pretty much impossible to get it to the people because of a corrupt government. We'd help if we could.
  3. I could have been married by now, but the question is....would I be HAPPILY married?
  4. I felt the same way when I went through the temple...at first. My father was there as my guide (or whatever you call it), so I had to depend on my trust in him sometimes. But here's the kicker: the past year, I had been extensively (as far as a freshmen college student could) studying the Old Testament. Initiatories were really weird at first, but there at the end, it clicked. I recognized it as a very similar ordinance done for prospective kings done in the OT. The endowment was also really weird to me, but then I recognized that several of the symbols and signs also had an OT basis, many things that I had learned studying Isaiah. Still, there are things I don't understand, but it is coming, slowly. But all of that stuff is meant to stir your thoughts and feelings. You will learn from it, bit by bit, but the heart of these ordinances is the covenants you are making. And I agree you don't need to know much about Masonry to understand these things. There are similar symbols, but I didn't know anything about Masonry before then.
  5. Two classes eh? Keep going at that rate, you'll be like me and end up with 7+ years worth of institute under your belt.
  6. See, this cow keeps its tongue to itself. Very popular at parties.
  7. It's driving me NUTS! That cow licking my computer screen! Now I have cow slobber all over my screen! GAH!!!!
  8. I am a professional bum. Or also a cherry picker. Okay, I'm actually still a student, and will be for a bit. I'm a physicist, currently in a Master's program. But that still means I'm a professional bum and cherry picker.
  9. I'm unique. Unique up on me, and I will easily get startled!!! I could list some strange things I'm allergic to...my own hair follicles, stainless steel... Or I could mention the fact that I can do anything.
  10. Hi. I like to hang out in the General Discussion forum where the cool kids are.
  11. God was missing for six days. Eventually, Michael, the archangel, found him, resting on the seventh day.. He inquired, "Where have you been?" God smiled deeply and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, "Look, Michael.. Look what I've made." Archangel Michael looked puzzled, and said, "What is it?" "It's a planet," replied God, and I've put life on it… I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a place to test Balance." "Balance?" inquired Michael, "I'm still confused." God explained, pointing to different parts of earth. "For example, northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth, while southern Europe is going to be poor. Over here I've placed a continent of white people, and over there is a continent of black people. Balance in all things." God continued pointing to different countries. "This one will be extremely hot, while this one will be very cold and covered in ice." The Archangel , impressed by God's work, then pointed to a land area and said, "What's that one?" "That’s the State of Texas , the most glorious place on earth. There are beautiful mountains, rivers and streams, lakes, forests, hills, beaches and plains. The people from the State of Texas are going to be handsome, modest, intelligent, and humorous, and they are going to travel the world. They will be extremely sociable, hardworking, high achieving, carriers of peace, and producers of good things." Michael gasped in wonder and admiration, but then asked, "But what about balance, God? You said there would be balance.." God smiled, "There’s Washington DC . Wait till you see the idiots I put there."
  12. Why did this disappear? I'm going to resurrect it... ------- A little old lady answered a knock on the door one day to be confronted by a well-dressed young man carrying a vacuum cleaner. "Good morning," said the young man. "If I could take a couple minutes of your time, I would like to demonstrate the very latest in high-powered vacuum cleaners…" ''Go away!'' said the old lady. ''I'm broke and haven't got any money!'' and she proceeded to close the door. Quick as a flash, the young man wedged his foot in the door and pushed it wide open… ''Don't be too hasty'' he said, ''not until you have at least seen my demonstration.'' And with that, he emptied a bucket of horse manure onto her hallway carpet. "Now if this vacuum cleaner does not remove all traces of this horse manure from your carpet, Madam, I will personally eat the remainder." The old lady stepped back and said, "Well let me get you a fork, 'cause they cut off my electricity this morning!"
  13. Ah, evolution. I support it as a good theory, but consider myself a creationist (not the crazy type, though). I believe that God created the heavens and earth, but we aren't entirely sure on the how. I think we all need to realize that any scientific theory or principle we have is still not complete. Take for instance the nature and beginning of the universe: the Big Bang theory is one of the most popular and used theories out there, but there are many flaws with it. We have troubles still finding a universal theory that encompasses both the Newtonian world and the quantum. Even Newtonian physics, which we've had for centuries, can't be explained completely, albeit pretty darn close. Things can be pretty complex. As for the theory of evolution, I just say we don't yet have the whole story.
  14. There's a story my grandpa used to tell about his grandpa, who was the first of the family to settle in Pleasant Grove. He raised a horse called Nelly, and trained it very well so that it obeyed his every command. "Let's go faster," he'd say, so Nelly would. "Wait here," and she did. "Whoa, Nelly," and she stopped on a dime. One day he was wandering in the mountains above PG with Nelly when Nelly lost her footing and they both fell off a cliff. Midway down, he shouted, "Whoa, Nelly!" and she stopped in mid-air. Thanks to Nelly, they both survived that day. There were some Ute indians in the area that caused a bunch of ruckus by stealing the settler's horses. One day, Grandpa woke up to find that the horse was stolen. He tracked the indians down and to his dismay, he found them eating poor Nelly. He came out of hiding, alerting the indians who began to run away. As they did, he called out, "Whoa Nelly!" Each of the indians stopped in their tracks, fell and choked on the horse meat they were all eating. Never again was there a horse like Nelly.
