You just reminded me of the brazen serpent Moses was commanded to put on a staff to cure Israelites bitten by fiery serpents. How looking at a brass serpent would counteract venom in the bloodstream is a mystery, but certainly those who merely looked at it did live.  Another object, not particularly notable in and of itself, producing a miraculous result when combined with faith in God (faith for me is hearing the word of God and doing it ie hope+obedience/action).

I've said it before , but why are you owning his problem; it is his problem-he has to be the one to solve it-not you. Yes it does affect you-but you cannot solve his problem. You must be his wife, rather than his mother. Unless there is something you aren't saying, I do not believe divorce is justified in this case. Marriage can be extremely difficult, especially when the marriage couple are not husband and wife.  You are not being his wife and his is not being your husband-if you want your marriage to work-then you must be his wife (and he must be your husband).

I will probably catch flak for this; but I believe ADHD is a bunch of modern age psycho-babble that "Parenting" magazine, CNN, etc. and all the rest of the county is brainwashed into believing.  It is a bunch of junk. I have a little boy who I guarantee would be labeled as ADHD-but I won't test him b/c I don't care about a label. What he lacks is discipline and that is what my job as a parent is-to raise a future adult and to be an adult requires discipline.  How to cure ADHD-pick the battles worth fighting. Do I care if my son runs around crazy-no go outside and play, climb a tree knock yourself out. Will he get disciplined for being destructive and mean-yes, disciplined for not completing assignments-yes. Will he disciplined for not doing what he is told-yes.

By the time a child is 13-if you have not instilled in them a sense of strong obedience to authority figures (namely mom and dad) - good luck b/c you are certainly going to need it. At 13 the time to learn obedience is over and the time to be mentored starts.  If she is having obedience problems at 13- by 16-17 she'll be having sex, drugs, etc.
Due to the nature of some of the sites he visited, I thought he might be meeting other women. He assured me he wasn't, that I was always the only woman for him, and if I ever doubted, I should just look on out Find My iPhone app to see where he is. Tonight, for the second week in a row, when he is supposed to be at his ARP meeting, he is disconnected from the app.

Umm, is he visiting Ashley Madison or something? If so, well the cat is out of the bag.

If you read nothing else, please see my final questions and comments.  Over the past 13 years, since you've had kids-who has taken a bigger role and precedence in your life? Has it been your children or your husband? I bet that you've been sucked into what has been called the "Good mommy club" that a wife's primary role is her children and that during a significant portion of the last 13 years you have paid more attention, done more for your children than your husband; that from his perspective he probably feels ignored and pushed aside as simply an appendage. That in parenting with your children, they have driven a wedge between you and your husband-that you defend them from him and they are able to play you and him against each other.

If you want to save your marriage-be a wife first, mother second. Allow your husband to be a husband 1st and father 2nd. If you want to know how to be a wife . . . well go to the scriptures.

    But that's my 2 cents.

This isn't terribly far from where we live. (we are right between tampa and orlando in the woods).
I hate seeing what has been done to Florida-once I could drive down hwy 50 and see nothing between clermont and orlando but orange groves and pastureland. Now there is absolutely NO break between clermont and orlando and the groves and pastures are gone. And yes, I hate Disney and Universal for what they have turned FL into.
Now because of developers the area and surroudning towns where I live has been or is in the process of being rezoned NON agricultural. Understand that this used to be the green bean capital of the world out here-more peppers and peas and cuckes and melons came out of this area and shipped out of the packing houses on trains into the early 90's. No longer since developers moved in.

Now, my family on my dad's side have been farmers and ranchers since before FL was a state-and now the lands out here are being bought up because the farmers and ranchers can no longer afford the taxes because everything was re calssified non agricultural...and subsequently there is more housing developments. THere is a big housing boom going on here now...really big, and very few can afford to farm.
That being said-if this boom has to happen I at least am glad the Church will be a strong presence. I am holding on to the hope that the Church will continue the ranching and groves and such and treat the land and aquifer with respect as they build the city that is planned.
I guess I just liked the old swampy and woodsy Florida best. :)

Absolutely. And before this I was all about feeling free and unhinged by any religion. (I have studied religion just about my whole life) yet now...it's exactly as you say. I am happiest now since joining the church than on my worst day-than my happiest back then. Overall I find it ironic that I feel more free now by being in the church.

Hmmmmm the legalizing of plural marriage could be a windfall for the church and those members with ancestors dating back to the Missouri and Nauvoo periods   (perhaps even pre 1890 Utah) that lost property under the extermination order and property that was confiscated by state and federal governments because of polygamy.  It would be better documented and more recent than current reputations being sought for by certain other "minorities" for loss of civil rights.

Floridagal got a reaction from NightSG in Grandma baptized without permission
First thing I did when I got baptised was start importing my already existing Ancestry account to familysearch and start preparing to start doing the Temple work for my family. I was really very happy to think about havin my son do my grandfather's work. My grandfather passed less than 15 years ago at the time and my son actually shares his birthdate. I quickly found out someone else did the work-and should not have as there are no relatives that anyone knows of who are in the church, (other than myself and husband and children). A recent convert cousin of mine found the same thing with HIS grandfather-same person who won't respond to emails.
Ironically, on my mother's paternal side-the one with many LDS relatives in Utah and Iowa-there's a lot of Temple work left to be done!
It was a little painful, so yeah the same thing has happened here.

I've been a stay at home mom to my 6 well...forever, haha! Seriously-we have 6 ages 21(and newly married) 19, 17,15,7 and 2. The biggest thing I have learned is that the dishes will keep, and childhood is a short season. Go easy on yourself and have fun. Yes, housework needs to get done but it can be made fun with little ones. It really can. :)

I'd also say to get the little one involved in some (age appropriate) crafts that require some time to do-clay, sewing, loom crafting. Keeps the hands and mind busy. I have been known as the craft mom for years-when things get nuts out comes the clay and glitter and glue, etc.

If somebody copies test answers off another student they are cheating, if they deal from the bottom of the deck they are cheating, if they replace regulation footballs with under-inflated ones they are cheating.  Cheating means to seek advantage by breaking rules.  Relationships have rules and breaking those rules is cheating and it certainly fits into what happened here.  I didn't call it adultery because it wasn't that kind of cheating, but it was cheating.

When you get engaged, even if you are just boyfriend/girlfriend, the relationship has boundaries and obligations to be loyal to those limits. Not being married just means a different set of boundaries and an easier time ending the relationship.   He did betray her, he was disloyal and it was cheating.  The outward act was not the same as having sex with somebody else, but in terms of what was in his heart there is very little that is different.  Cheating is what happens in the heart far, far more than what happens with the body.

    I disagree.

Married in the temple, not married in the temple but are a couple, or unmarried but are an exclusive couple - if one partner engages in romantic kissing, sex, or otherwise activity that should be reserved for your significant other - is cheating, that's my opinion on it.

OP should be very careful and proceed with open eyes, whatever she chooses to do.

To be clear: The fiance did not "cheat on" his fiancee, because they have no formal covenant. And he did not commit adultery; a kiss is a long way from sex.

That said, I agree with the general tenor of the comments. If you were my daughter, I would plead with you to break off the engagement.

Of course, what we know of the situation is only what you have told us. We have no other context in which to view these actions, or even to know how accurate your description is. So take everyone's advice here with a large grain of salt.

This isn't the movies. The woman at work was married with 5 kids. That doesn't sound normal at all. He isn't just a cheater, he is a covenant breaker. Add that with the fact that it was on a few different occasions? If he did this under whatever pre-marital stress he was under, what is he going to do with actual marital stress?

That being said I don't believe 'once a cheater always a cheater'-but honestly there needs to be such a level of transparency and openess that needs to happen in order to regain trust. Is this happening? Any 'questionable' moments" that he can't explain?  Any hiding of the cell phone or anything? That's not transparency, and that is a major red flag.

I really enjoyed the audio book and sometimes listen to it while long-boarding. I highlights that truth, that all of us born to this earth, no matter during what age or what culture, have an inboard compass or instinct that gently point us to the truth if we will but listen. These truths we attain have as much to do with remembering as discovering.

Thought this quote from Elder Maxwell is spot on:

“Make no mistake about it, brothers and sisters, in the months and years ahead, events are likely to require each member to decide whether or not he will follow the First Presidency. Members will find it more difficult to halt longer between two opinions. (See 1 Kgs. 18:21.) President Marion G. Romney said, many years ago, that he had ‘never hesitated to follow the counsel of the Authorities of the Church even though it crossed my social, professional or political life’ (in Conference Report, Apr. 1941, p. 123). This is a hard doctrine, but it is a particularly vital doctrine in a society which is becoming more wicked. In short, brothers and sisters, not being ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ includes not being ashamed of the prophets of Jesus Christ! We are now entering a time of incredible ironies. Let us cite but one of these ironies which is yet in its subtle stages: We will see a maximum, if indirect, effort made to establish irreligion as the state religion. It is actually a new form of paganism which uses the carefully preserved and cultivated freedoms of western civilization to shrink freedom, even as it rejects the value essence of our rich Judeo-Christian heritage.”
“Your discipleship may see the time when such religious convictions are discounted. M. J. Sobran also said, ‘A religious conviction is now a second-class conviction, expected to step deferentially to the back of the secular bus, and not to get uppity about it’ (Human Life Review, Summer 1978, pp. 58–59). This new irreligious imperialism seeks to disallow certain opinions simply because those opinions grow out of religious convictions. Resistance to abortion will be seen as primitive. Concern over the institution of the family will be viewed as untrendy and unenlightened.”
“Before the ultimate victory of the forces of righteousness, some skirmishes will be lost. Even in these, however, let us leave a record so that the choices are clear, letting others do as they will in the face of prophetic counsel. There will also be times, happily, when a minor defeat seems probable, but others will step forward, having been rallied to rightness by what we do. We will know the joy, on occasion, of having awakened a slumbering majority of the decent people of all races and creeds which was, till then, unconscious of itself. Jesus said that when the fig trees put forth their leaves, ‘summer is nigh’ (Matt. 24:32). Thus warned that summer is upon us, let us not then complain of the heat!”
    Elder Neal A. Maxwell
