As a whole, these verses are part of a slightly larger chiasmus https://chiasmusresources.org/3-nephi-913-22
The rhetorical device serves as a mnemonic device for oral traditions, which includes focusing attention on the central idea, and in written traditions.

I noticed a pattern of phrases in 3 Nephi 9 that Christ repeated four times in somewhat similar ways and was wondering if anyone has ever come across any conference talks or has any insight about this repetition? Assuming things that are repeated are extremely poignant and of significance among scripture.
3 Nephi 9:5: "...to hide their iniquities and their abominations from before my face, that the blood of the prophets and the saints shall not come any more unto me against them."
3 Nephi 9:8: " ...to hide their wickedness and abominations from before my face, that the blood of the prophets and the saints should not come up any more unto me against them."
3 Nephi 9: 9: "...to destroy them from before my face, that the blood of the prophets and the saints should not come up unto me any more against them."
3 Nephi 9: 11: "...that their wickedness and abominations might be hid from before my face, that the blood of the prophets and the saints whom I sent among them might not cry unto me from the ground against them."

I, for one, have no intention of creating an account on some alternative to Facebook. My Facebook presence is primarily to keep in touch with loved ones, not to participate in political discourse or keep up on the news.
Frankly, if any of the leaked Parler info turns out to be legally actionable and leads to arrests, then I say—good.  I’m not loving the idea of speech actually being shut down, but I’m very in-favor of prosecuting people who use their free speech make death threats, coordinate the invasion of public buildings, gloat about getting physical with cops, and the like.

Three things came to mind as I read your post.
    1. There is nothing wrong with seeking confirmation on something. Even if there is one correct answer and it is being taught to us having a spiritual confirmation can be greatly helpful in living that commandment.
    2. Being as objective as possible when seeking to interpret revelation is huge. I think in many instances the Lord cares far more about whether our greatest desire is to do His will rather than whether we kept the commandment exactly how he intended.
    3. While there is a fairly established ideal that we pursue in life our individual uniqueness and missions in life do in fact cause deviations from that ideal. But these deviations can only be known to us through revelation and as I said before by not allowing our own desires to get in the way of what God wants.

I found President Nelson's question about pondering how your life would be different if your knowledge gained from the Book of Mormon was suddenly taken away to be so interesting....I'm probably putting too much stock into it but I found it to be a unique question.

This is actually a big help for my parents (who have a gay son and trans daughter) who support and affiliate in LGBTQ youth organizations but do not support or promote the actual beliefs. “Support” has always been a vague word when used between an LGBTQ individual and a Christian. Very happy to see this clarification

BeccaKirstyn reacted to Vort in Bishop didn’t ask for details or more information about my sins
God grants forgiveness, not the bishop, and God knows what you have done. The bishop might feel he needs more insight into the situation behind a particular sinful act; in this case, your bishop apparently didn't see the need for that. So be it. Your true repentance will not be less effective because the bishop didn't ask you some things.
If you're still feeling bad about this, go back to your bishop and tell him that you were prepared to tell him everything, but he didn't ask. Tell him you feel uneasy about that, and offer to spill your guts. If he continues to refuse to ask, accept that as the righteous judgment of Israel's common judge.

When someone confesses that they've sinned, and can demonstrate an understanding of what their sins are, I don't personally find a need to pursue extensive questioning. If this was a first time, one-off occurrence, then do as your bishop counsels you, continue your repentance, and get on with life.
Don't let doubts about your experience with your confession not being what you expected it to be cause you to miss out on the joy of repentance.

These aren't opposed to each other: we can still strive to honor our covenants while still feeling God's love when we fail and when we succeed.  Preaching love doesn't mean we need to stop preaching the importance of striving, and vise versa.

Adam and Eve: we know that aspects of this story are figurative, but we also know that there was/is a literal daughter & son of God with the names Adam & Eve.  Honestly, I don't think it particularly matters where how much you find any particular aspects is figurative versus literal -- the big point is to testify of Christ.  There's lots of parts I'm personally in the "I don't know and I don't care" camp.  I can also give my my passionate speech about how I do believe in creation AND evolution and how they are not opposed to each other.
Scriptures being literal (because the question applies to *all* scriptures): ok, this is actually the same answer as above.

Handbook 2 14.4.4 says the opening and closing hymns are "...normally sung by the congregation."  Exceptions occur.
The same section also goes on to say, "The sacrament hymn is always sung by the congregation."  Exceptions should not occur.

I personally worked part-time at 2 separate jobs,  ran a side gig business detailing cars, did side jobs with my roommate on occasion, attended school full time (with 14-16 credits depending on whether it was football season or not), and was on the college drumline (which honestly took up the majority of the time during the fall). All the while maintaining a healthy 3.7 GPA to hold on to my scholarship and playing a health 15+ hours of videogames a week. One of my jobs was a night shift job where most of my homework and videogame time was accomplished.
I don't feel like I was superhuman, in fact I felt there were still plenty of times I slacked off or procrastinated. that being said, I am one of the few that actually does very well with lectures. I know there are a ton of people who learn differently, but I did well with lectures and tests. I am one of the few people that typical public education strategies sit well with.

Oh and btw... I never once felt like school debt or my living expenses were too high. Tuition was $6,000 a year with my scholarship (and then I was getting paid $2,000 after I got married and applied for grants). Had I continued and gotten my planned accounting/finance degree at SUU and later a masters, total school cost, ignoring interest) would have been around $20,000, but it would have been about $50,000 had I not gotten a scholarship or grants (not counting living expenses).

So maybe someone can help me understand? From what I see, this school loan debt crisis the country is freaking out about seems to come from students:
    1) Going to big popular and expensive schools
    2) Not working at all in college
    3) Using loan money to fund expensive lifestyles and unnecessary trips
    4) Students not getting scholarships of any sort
    5) Highly intensive science and medical degrees

To me, with the exception of the 5th point, it seems like this "crisis" we are having was brought on by bad decisions made by individuals and not a broken system. Am I missing something in my analysis?

In many parts of the US, state colleges and universities can actually be cheaper than BYU today.  Some of them depend on grades and residency, but I've seen some State universities literally be half to a quarter of the cost of BYU for those who had great grades and residency.  Non-residents on the otherhand might pay out of the nose.
Community Colleges can also be cheaper in many ways and far more affordable.
If one is in Europe, depending on the test scores, Universities may actually be free though one will still need to pay for housing and food.

Some in-state universities offer scholarships for kids who stay in the state instead of leaving for another university out-of-state. Look into (or have your child look into) the scholarship options your in-state universities offer! This will also save you money as they will most likely live at home (unless you prefer them not to)--which wouldn't be the case at BYU. Unless you live in Utah or Idaho....and then my last point is null. My in-state university ended up being cheaper for me than BYU because I could live at home and because I received a scholarship for graduating from a state high school with a specific GPA. Good luck!

But it completely makes mine...  Just because something is true doesn't make it the right thing to do...  Thus if we say something sharp that hurts someone we do not get to hide behind... "But it is true"  Not in God's eyes (and his are the only ones that matter) not as his priesthood holders not as someone that is trying to follow him.
