  1. Well we do not know this woman we can't judge if she's a self serving mother or if she's a relationship with a flaky bf ! And if you agree that the parent with custody gets 100% of the assets then it means that if it's her she gets it all and Zero gets nothing ! Nobody here can really give advices like that, the best is mediation and why not a therapist if it's too hard to go through this alone. My best advice : don't get advice from strangers and people who are too involved (family and friends), get advice from professionnals ! what you can get though is support from your relatives. Divorces end badly only when people put themselves first and children last. So the best would be to talk to the children prepare them for the split (not wait last minute), and ask them what they'd like to do. Good luck I know too well what's it's like !
  2. Mine is a year older than yours and I have always had to constantly remind her that she needs to : - take her shower when she comes back from school (usually I need to repeat 10 times a day before she goes) - put body lotion so her skin isn't itchy - brush her teeth after meals and lately she likes using mouthwash to rinse (good for her!). In the morning it's tough as well I still need to make sure she washes her face and brushes her teeth and wear clean clothes. Brushing hair too, otherwise she'd end up with dreadlocks ! Twice a week she needs to wash her hair, I also buy her body scrubs. I think it's cool to make kids choose different type of bodywash and it can smell peach pear strawberry etc I teach her specific hygiene when she has her period and make sure she has what she needs to change and clean herself at school. I have a feeling I will always have to supervise her otherwise it doesn't come natural for her ! I think most kids need to shower everyday after school but truth is, we don't need to shower every single day if we don't do lots of physical work or activities. Most people shower to feel fresh and smell good, but skipping shower once in a while doesn't make us dirty. I try to use more and more natural bodywash and deodorant to protect my skin because washing too often is agressive for the skin and natural defenses.

What is sad is that the world doesn't seem to know how to put an end to the islamic terrorism. They all agree to get there and fight this third world war ! Now I'm very skeptical to see the results
  4. "our target is 10 baptisms by christmans" it makes me wonder if for these people human beings are just numbers to write on their records or if they are really wanting to make people feel good in their congregation and just make them grab some empty chairs... How do converts usually feel ?
  5. Scary ! I find the holiday of Halloween to be intereting, this isn't my culture since I'm not American. But I have always thought that this holiday was against christian beliefs. I don't know the stand of the church of LDS on Halloween, but it seems like it doesn't bother. Scary crazy halloween to you all !
  6. I do not consider myself a Zionist. I have visited Israel many times and there is such a special feeling there, you can really understand why it is called the Holy Land ! The Palestinian-Israeli conflict should never impact the history of the land : it was the home of the Jewish People and Jesus. G-d has given the Land (remember that the actual borders of the State of Israel aren't those in the Bible : some parts of the Land currently belong to the neighbor countries, the biblical land was much bigger than now) and if we are believer in the Bible it is natural to make sure to protect this land and keep the spiritual attachment to it. Just look around Israel and see how the Arab countries treat Christians and have treated Jews (they have expelled Jews when the State of Israel was created, even if the Jews living in those countries wished to remain where their ancestors lived for so long). If we want the History of the Bible to be preserved and safe we MUST support the State of Israel to remain in control of those sites (beginning of the month Palestinian extremists burnt out the grave of one of our forefather, common to the three monotheist religions, but too blind with hatred to see that they aren't only causing pain and sorrow to the jewish people). The world is mostly against Israel because of centuries old antisemitism. If antisemitism is punishable in most countries and is considered hatred, antizionism isn't and now people use it as an excuse so spread more and more judeophobia. The Arab world does not care for the Palestinian People, just see how they have been treated as refugees in the surrounding countries such as Lebanon, Syria, Jordan or Egypt (and Egypt really does not want them ! they are fighting side by side with the State of Israel against palestinian terrorism). We see it everyday, protests and condamnations are toward Israel but the rest of the arab world suffers tremendously and everyday minorities of these countries are being raped enslaved tortured and murdered. The ISIS is destroying all vestiges and proof of the past : the Assyrians have lost their culture in those countries, they are coming forward to Israel to do the same thing : erase all traces of jewish and biblical presence on earth ! Let's not repeat history. Now that does not mean being 100% pro Israel and agree with everything because like any other country there are pros and cons. Bein pro Israel shouldn't make anyone blind and we should be understanding that the conflict has both sides and there are those who want peace but are unheard voices amongts the extremists on each side. But truly, if I had to choose between being pro Palestinian and pro Israeli I would definately choose the second one because I have seen it many times : over there Israelis come from so many countries, there are so many ethnicities, religions they all live as equal citizens, whether they are Jews, Arabs (Christians and Muslims) or none of them... This is truly the fault of the medias to non stop protraying the death and the blood of Israelis and Palestinians instead of focusing on what REAL life is !
  7. Hello, I can understand that you do not necessarely search for a real emotionnal connection to God by referring to Him as you really do feel His love, or cry after prayers. I'm a believer and I have more like a down to earth approach of religion but I do feel connected to G-d even if I do not "feel" it in my body. I know He exists by looking around me, thinking about my life and how His presence, his essence have always had a huge impact in me and my existence. I was told many times by missionnaries to read the Mormon Book and ask G-d to tell me if it is the truth and honestly I don't see how I could get such answer in a quick time. I feel that I need to wait until G-d Himself shows me the path as He did before. That He knows when I am ready and how it is the best way for me to reach it. Spirituality and faith is such a personnal thing, that I'm not sure there is one way to live it. There were times in my life where I prayed so hard and cried and got answers, there were times I just couldn't even pray and I saw I didn't get the same answers, I know that when it is time and you feel it all doors from Heaven will be open for you. Now I think you just have to try and try again, because even if you don't really feel it, prayers are never left unheard nor unanswered. Sometimes we don't get the answer we expect and we don't get it when we want it. I can tell you from my experience, or what we can call a testimony, that I have asked things that I was sure were what I needed in my life at that time I prayed to God, and I didn't receive them from the Lord. There are times I was very sad and disappointed that I became depressed because I thought God wasn't listening to me. I ended up tellin Him : God only You know what is best for me, and even if it is a NO I would put my faith in You that you chose to deny me what I think I need because this is only what I want and not what I truly need. And every time, it is true, every single time, I looked back and thought to myself "It was only for the best, God really knows it and I just need to always remember it". You can investigate your faith in God by the small things that are around you every moment and that you don't really "see" : the constant renewal of His creation !
  8. "a wife should respect her husband's wishes". "without the husband's consent", " unless he agrees to it." "as she respects his authority as head of the family" I'm shocked to read that a woman can't make her own choice and needs to consult her husband before she makes a decision. Is that what it is usually happening within the LDS Church or is it your conception of womanhood ? It sounds a lot like sexism. Men and women have different roles, we can't expect to be 100% the same in everything, and as a married couple we should discuss matters and make decisions that are best for everyone. But if the woman needs to do something for herself, especially in her service to God, that should be between herself and the Lord, nothing to ask for the husband's permission. If that really affects the well being of the family as it is too hard for the couple to live different level of faith or different faith, then it's best to see how religion should have a place in the house (teaching children, observing holidays)... and try to come to an agreement of compromises.
  9. Yes ! I will have to wait for the Missionaries to finish serving so we can be in touch again :-( I do understand they need to stay focus and not spend their time being friends with everyone but I miss them already :-)
  10. Love Texas ! (or should I say I would love discovering Texas !)
  11. NeedleInA Well I dislike the part where the Missionaries rotate. I thought I would continue with the first men I met I was very annoyed at first to be contacted by other missionaries. I didn't understand since they did not explain me anything nor introduce themselves. The new men are nice but I am a very reserved person I would not want different missionaries all the time !
  12. Hello there I am Jewish too not converted to the Mormon church.
  13. Food ? This topic is for me :) Well I am not really sure if there is one particular dish I could recommand, I love cooking but apparently what I make best is : lasagna !
  14. Hello everyone ! Thank you for your welcoming messages, and I am glad I already have many replies. It means the forum is pretty active and I like that. CarborendumThank you very much LiterateParakeetThank you for your interest, you may contact me in private if you wish to discuss many topics with me. Beware I'm very talk active NeedleinAWelcome to you as well ! I have said that I wasn't ready to say the prayers many times with the first missionaries I was involved with. In Judaism, we pray silently, and even though I always feel connected to God in my spirit, I "speak" to him so many times, or should I say I think of him, since I don't speak out loud ! I did attend church one sunday, I really liked the class but I was very very uneasy with the "mess" thing (sorry I don't remember how you call it) : I had a few converts asking me when I'd get baptized and I declined to eat the bread and drink the water they served, not because I wanted to offend them by refusing, just that it was all new to me and wasn't prepared at all... I wasn't comfortable, was blushing because I might have offended some people, I felt awful after that ! VortThank you for clarifying what I probably misunderstood :) EowynThank you very much ! LeahHello ! Wow very nice, I don't feel like I'm the exception (well my background is probably different than yours) but I would love to be in touch with you for sure ! (As I am very new to the forum, do you mind sending me a private message ?!) CarborendumGreat ! I love sharing opinions, no need to be specifically easy on me, try me I can take it ahahah Jane_DoeHello thank you very much !
  15. Hi ! As a former Catholic, I must say that I don't find LDS to be similar to the faith I grew up in. :-)
  16. Hi there ! I am a jewish lady in my 30's married with one child. I have always been curious about the Mormons, I have done many research and watched many documentaries. It has been a fews months since I have started meeting Missionnaries and learning. There are so many things I do like about the LDS church and so many things I already do in my daily life but I still have a "problem" with believing that Jesus is God reincarnated to come down to earth and save us from all sins... Not unusual for a Jew to know understand/believe in that concept. I am very uncomfortable with the Missionaries asking me to pray in the name of Jesus and get baptized already. I feel pressured but I still want to learn and love my meetings with them ! I hope to get to know more members through this website and have good topics :-)
  17. Hello there, I think that if you want to be seriously involved in a relationship with her you should discuss the faith topic with her. Will she be willing to convert to your religion or will you be willing to convert to hers ? If you have no intention in living your faith nor does she, it is just simply the end of the relationship and not wasting your time and have broken hearts. Especially since you are going to serve in a mission. Isn't it forbidden while serving in a mission to be involved in a relationship, especially with someone outside of your faith ? Living in the Middle East is definately dangerous for you and for her... there are honor killings and you can also be in a dangerous position if you try to even bring the subject of her conversion to your faith. Maybe you should just go on with your mission and stay focus and when you finish and go back to your family, see what has happened about her (but I doubt she'd ever convert while still living in Qatar) or simply try to meet a girl your own faith. By the way, I really don't see how islam is a religion of peace !
