  1. The good thing is that if somebody with a chip on their shoulder regarding other faith traditions publishes his own questionable speculations, then the Church is not obligated to abide by it and may even choose to discontinue it and supersede it with their own Encyclopedia of Mormonism.
  2. That is a hard one for LDS to ascertain, since many LDS see some form of divine guidance in all things.
  3. ActualLiz, do not discount the natural human impulse of anger and its offshoot revenge. These are powerful forces that can easily brush aside any shoulds or oughts.
  4. Elder McConkie is describing no Church that can be found in the telephone book.
  5. YouTube - Harpers Bizarre - The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)
  6. I suppose the same as I am feeling now toward the conservative oligarchy I mentioned: I would trust in an LDS Theocracy much more. They would not turn away from God the same as the other two.
  7. He is dead now, but it was John Belushi. Best comedy duo was Belushi and Ackroyd.
  8. My computer addiction since last spring has been Fallout 3 and its add-ons. Moksha is the Lone Wander - the kid from Vault 101 - the wasteland's one true Messiah, who along with his pals Star Paladin Cross, Fawkes, Charon, Sydney, the Brotherhood of Steel and Dog Meat, fights the good fight for karma, survival, and supplies.
  9. The day after this program aired, the sheriff of Lehi has announced that he is going after Kody Brown. I suppose if one practices it quietly in the community for 16 years and then appears on television, it was bound to happen. This is an election year, but I am not at all certain that such a prosecution in Utah County will deliver the votes. Anyway, prosecution will help highlight this Utah dilemma and boost next weeks ratings. It might be time to take such a case up the court food chain now that the equal protection clause of the Constitution has inadvertently been rediscovered.
  10. Who can resist the allure of Kitty Cannon ? Kitten Cannon - Free Game
  11. If I remember right, this is a sad song: YouTube - Loreena McKennitt- The Highwayman Can't quite remember if the song "Delia's Dead" by Johnny Cash was one of sadness or hope.
  12. I suppose when you do find them, they are out plowing the field. I see a distinct possiblity that such positive portrayals in the media such as this Sister Wives program on The Learning Channel, may lead to a greater acceptance of both polygamy and Mormonism.
  13. That might put him between a rock and a hard spot. When trying to court potential followers to unite in politics under the generalized banner of God, it would not look good to give an endorsement for such an LDS-centric idea, yet I have in real life heard such an idea espoused many times by my fellow LDS. In essence that would be a damned if you do and perhaps literally damned if you don't scenario for Glenn. BTW, I would trust an LDS Theocracy much more readily than I would any corporate oligarchy wonderland put forth by secular conservatives, letting religious followers have their minute in the sun, then back to unscrupulous business as usual.
  14. Anybody catch the premier of this series on the Kody Brown family last night? If so, what are your impressions?
  15. Exercise has to start somewhere. Best to try moving your mouse around the screen and see how many shapes you can make. This might even help you brush up on your high school geometry. Hope that helps...
  16. Got this email from my 11 year old daughter: So much is hereditary, isn't it?
  17. Boise State, TCU and Utah all got regular wins the week. The Utah State prophecy is still ongoing.
  18. Would Glenn Beck refuse a global theocracy of LDS leaders?
  19. I knew I was going to disapoint George Washington fans by omitting apple, but I totally forgot about pecan pies. Let's squeeze that in there too. Please send all your excess pecans from now on to Utah. Maybe it should be expanded to include apple and sweet potato pie.
  20. This sleepware could only add to the natural protective properties of Garments during night time forays. Available in grey steel and cougar blue kevlar.
  21. Don't really like that pie chart. I prefer this rank order pie chart list: 1. Berry Pies: Boysenberry, blueberry, raspberry, black, logan, lingon, goose berries. 2. Key Lime Pie 3. Kahlua Cream Pie 4. Chocolate Cheesecake with raspberry topping 5. Snickers Bar Pie 6. Boston Cream Pie 7. Pumpkin Pie 8. Lemon Meringue 9. Chocolate Cream 10. Strawberry Pie This is a much better pie chart.
  22. Simcha Jacobovici was the guy who did the documentary on the ossuraries of Jesus, Mary Magdala, and the rest of the family at the Talpiot Tomb. The PBS documentary was called, The Lost Tomb of Jesus. No understanding is necessary unless one wished to risk the chance of incipient madness. :)
  23. I was going to say that Assembly Hall reminded me of pictures of the Kirtland Temple, but when I examined the pictures I could not longer see it. Perhaps I was thinking of the gameshow Secret Squares rather than Assembly Hall. Nevermind. I would have always picked Whoopi over Paul Lind. Here is a fun Salt Lake Web Site : Pictures of Salt Lake City, Utah
  24. I have great respect for Canada and I am looking forward to Canadian Breath Day again next April. Best to have a shot of maple syrup and rehibernate until then. Tundra go braugh.
