  1. I know you didn't conger this out of thin air, but it never the less remains patently false. Darwin was not an atheist. As to the claim that Darwin reverted to a believer on his deathbed, that was part of the 1915 Lady Hope Story and has been repudiated by his children and historians. Darwin pointed out that, "The mystery of the beginning of all things is insoluble by us...". Behind the veil as some would put it. Sometimes events can change a man's life. Darwin was studying for ordination as a minister at the Christ's College of Cambridge University, when he was offered a chance to sail on the HMS Beagle. That lead him on an alternate path to becoming both a revered figure of science and an object of scorn (repugnance) on this board.
  2. That cartoon is getting rather old, but it will remain on the internet for a long time. You can count on there always being hateful things out there. This akin to some RNC guy producing a song called Obama the Magic Negro nearly two years ago. That guy couldn't see hate in his heart and I imagine Ed Decker could not see it in his heart when he was showing this aging film clip. Wouldn't both have been so much better off if they embraced the other in brotherhood.
  3. Forty year old baptisms are great since you displace more water. Welcome.
  4. Hey, don't blame me for the title. It is from the following article on Beliefnet. I am more than happy sitting right next to my brethren from the 10th Century on Sundays. Your thoughts?

  6. I sometimes combine gibberish and English. I suppose it's a gift.
  7. So Joseph Fielding Smith seems to be the originator of this thought. Readers might also remember that he was also the author reaffirming pure creationism without evolution. For related information see: http://www.lds.net/forums/lds-gospel-discussion/26761-body-flesh-bones-without-blood.html
  8. At least those older workers could understand me at the Carl Jr. counter.
  9. The war for Winston was one of inevitable resort. However, many wars are not borne of last resort, but instead would seem to be wars of opportunity and strategic advantage.
  10. Girls like to do this at a young age. My 'tween daughter likes to do dress up and make up games on the computer. During sleep overs, the girls like to make themselves up and pretend they are pop stars and other such stuff. Seems like a normal and harmless part of growing up and keeps them occupied and out of other mischief.
  11. MoE, were you hospitalized for a suspected aneurysm and possibly to rule out dropsy?
  12. Having already lost all my old family photos, I know I could live without them. God will help provide the rest, although personal ID would be very nice to retain. What extra time I would gain by not pondering those few minutes, perhaps I could knock on the neighbor's door and warn them.
  13. Cory, my view is that it takes a wide variety of ingredients to make a good stew. Welcome.
  14. Anne, don't be shy here. Speak right up and let us know you and your thinking. Welcome.

  17. Another form of spiritual growth is when we can see the outward change in how we react and behave in the various facets of or lives. For instance, being kinder and more patient, forgiving, tolerant and charitable.
  18. In questions that have a direct bearing on the welfare of the poor and downtrodden, a reminder that we are to champion their cause is never misplaced. The words in the chapel have meaning beyond the chapel doors.
  19. i imagine the new credit card regulations will help a great deal in years to come.
  20. Do you think it might help if our missionaries utilized comical song and dance routines? Couldn't hurt. I think if I were given enough time and perhaps a Guggenheim grant to help stir the creative mayo and ketchup, I could come up with the choreography for a piece about Fry Sauce.
  21. If all countries had apes as their spokespeople, we would have a higher level of dialogue. Kudos to Findland.
  22. Boise State, TCU and Utah all did fairly well this weekend. I will abide by the rules and not mention that other school.
  23. He would not have faired too well at an NRA convention.
  24. Ran across this interesting article: “But, in the long run, the use of violence never leads to a lasting peace,” the 33-year-old attorney said. “What you see in the Book of Mormon, again and again, is that war doesn’t solve anything. It just leads to more war.” Is the Book of Mormon anti-war at its core? | The Salt Lake Tribune What are your thoughts on this matter?
