  1. hello! I am in the SAME situation as you, only I've been studying the church off and on for years now. I've meet missionaries multiple times and completed the lessons with them probably 5 times or so! Been meeting for 10 years. I was never willing to make the changes I needed to though (smoking cigs, tea etc) and it's prevented me from moving forward. I am a little older now, less stubborn and feel as though I finally received a testimony for myself and so, I'm meeting with them again, only this time I've kicked my Cig habit! So, I just continue meeting missionaries, praying for direction and strength and of course, I also put in my own work (to live properly) and that's just kinda of what I'm doing now and where I'm at. i haven't been baptized yet though we are talking about it now and planning it. I have a couple other things I'm working on before, but I defiantly want it and now that I know for sure it's the truth, I can't turn away. Once you know, you know. And when you have that testimony, you will know what you need to do. Most importantly, don't let your own will stop you from doing it if you know it to be true. I did that and regret it. I spent many years going in circles all because of my own laziness so, I just encourage you to continue praying , learning, reading and studying. Once you gain a testimony and feel answered, you will know what to do.its just up to you to do it. i wish you luck and I hope you are meeting with missionaries. They're a wonderful tool when going through this. and if you would like to chat further or whatever else, feel free to message me here or on private anytime!
  2. Thanks all for the warm replies. And sorry for the bright color/strain on your eyes!! Hahaha.. hopefully this is better! And sorry for the delay.
  3. Hello all! Just joined the page a few day's ago and decided i'd give a quick, short introduction of myself! You can see some about me on my profile page as well. I am laid back and I love to meet new people. I've come here to do just that and to interact with all of you on the message boards. I enjoy meeting new people of different backgrounds, faiths and customs. I get along with just about everyone and hope to meet a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures. I am also here looking to strengthen my testimony of the Church and to learn more things. Always looking to expand my understand of the Scriptures, as well as Gospel Principles. I am not officially a member of the Church, as i've never been baptised. But i am meeting with Missionaries at the moment and actually have been on and off for the last few years. I hope to FINALLY get baptised and become a full member of the Church within the next few weeks. As I beleive in the Church and have a strong desire to preach and teach others about it. I love camping, hiking, taking walks. Traveling and seeing/doing new places/things. I enjoy writing, reading and scripture study. I also enjoy debating with people when I feel passionate about a subject. And helping other's to understand things from other perspectives. Anyway , before i drag this on to long.. I just wanted to say hello, nice to meet you all and i look forward to interacting with all of you on here. And getting to meet many of you (hopefully!) and feel free to drop me a comment, or message me at any time! I am also on Facebook, with a link to my page in my profile. Feel free to add me on FB! Thanks for taking the time to read this and May God Bless you all!!
  4. Ok, so the title says it all. I am working on getting closer to Jesus Christ and feeling His presence through the Holy Ghost. I do have faith, I am a believer and I read and study the scriptures daily, sometimes multiple times a day. Where I am lacking, is with prayer. I do pray, but not as often as I should. I do have short conversations with God sometimes throughout the day, but not too often meaningful or deep. I know for sure I need to work on praying more often and with deeper, more meaningful discussions. So, I am working on that. However, how do you guy's work on your relationship with Jesus and feeling the Spirit? It is a daily thing we must work at or we begin to feel some separation. I know it's a lot of effort on our part and its something very important we must do. And as I read the Scriptures and other church related books, I dont feel the Spirit like I wish. I will feel the presence of God and some scriptures begin to ignite my love and feelings toward Jesus, however, they seem to die quickly and I am back feeling like I am working to hard at this. Basically, most of all, I just want to feel the love of Jesus Christ and feel how important the Atonement was and understand how much He love's me. I want to feel that relationship grow and not die down. I want to feel this love. I want a strong relationship with Jesus Christ and learn to be more appreative of His Sacrifices for me. Does anyone have any advice on how I can work on this? Are there any special tools or ways you use to develop and keep this relationship/love? What is it you do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
