I actually want you to be specific. The purpose of my thread was to pinpoint them. I here people complaining about them often... but like you said... I can't figure out what they are cause I don't think I've ever seen any of them (except maybe the "assigned seating"... which I don't really think counts).

I have played with the idea that God was just a man part of a highly technologically advanced human race that squires immortality, then to build a perfect society, the "god's" built this simulation for all men to go down before become part of such a perfect society. Only those that pass this simulation will acquire said "God hood" and he a part of this eternally growing perfect society.
This is of course all hullabaloo and not worth spending time rationalizing

this talk was one of my first exposures to the topic and I feel it answers a lot of your questions.
this doctrine doesn't diminish god, but raises us to him. God does not intend that he will always be a mystery, but that one day we will be to fully rationalize his greatness and understand how he got there.
Why doesn't he do it now?
a thousand years  ago if a man cured a case of polio, he would be a magician or holy man. Today he would be a doctor or scientist, far less impressive. We may have a similar reaction to god if we understood everything today.

I submit that our mortal selves could not possibly contain that understanding nor survive the process of trying to receive it.

I came very, very close to going to BYU instead of the U of U.  The main selling point, was that I knew a grumpy crotchety old doctor near retirement, with an axe to grind against organized religion, who would have jumped at the chance to sign a medical release stating I had a legitimate medical reason to have a goatee.  He probably would have seen me for free if I kept him supplied with stories about how I was sticking it to da man.

Yes  "good changes" are good! but the church can't change things every time a small minority of the church is offended by something. I feel like that would politicize the church very quickly. I side with Vort. If there was a real problem with the picture, I'm sure those who have a higher degree of spiritual sensitivity and stewardship would make the change.
I have a friend that told me once "If I have a view that I find is not shared by the general authorities, I will change my view". In other words, he would repent (and repent is not some scary word we use when we are awful murdering sinners, repenting is simply a change of heart and mind to become more christlike)

go for the kill. Buy a ring (can be cheap... like $50), get on one knee, and ask the question.

I am wondering if someone can give me some insight on the LDS teaching on Eve.  I just read Jewel's post about an image at the SLC temple, and I am surprised at all the praise heaped upon her, and I assume that Adam shares in those praises.
And if Eve is worthy of some sort of praise (although I cannot imagine why), does Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ, also receive some sort of...added appreciation for her role in salvation history?

My answer didn't come till I was living the gospel and actively trying to repent and change my life for the better.
Maybe stop looking for an experience that says "Joseph Smith was a prophet and the Book of Mormon is true". Live the gospel band ask God if this is where you need to be and it is what you need to be doing.
I feel like that came to me far before a testimony if the specifics.
