  1. “Two men looked out from prison bars, One saw the mud, the other saw stars.” - Dale Carnegie

There are rotten apples in every bunch but you are the one who chooses to see what you look for. If you look for racism, discrimination, hypocrisy, etc you'll find it. But if you choose to see the good and those who do try to follow Christ's example, you'll find that too. Also, I think you're making some assumptions as well as projecting which really isn't fair or helpful.

  2. More thoughts:

    - Are you the rebound girl? How much time had passed between the end of his engagement and starting to date you? (you don't need to answer just something to think about) Breaking an engagement should take time to heal (esp when sex was involved) but did he think getting serious again was the solution?

    - Do Not Settle!

    - Read this and send it to him as well: http://middleagedmormonman.com/home/2013/06/romance-and-mission-prep/ then end this relationship so he can focus on his mission and you start dating other guys.

Their side appears to be - assume the worst, get super defensive and personally attack people for asking valid questions.

The worst thing is I am only seeking God and truth.  I started questioning my own faith, was given a Book of Mormon and started seriously considering that maybe the LDS church is the church acting with the authority of Jesus and not the Catholic Church as I was raised to believe.  I can tell you right now, if this is an indication of how faithful active LDS members behave, then I seriously doubt I will want anything to do with it.

I'm sorry with how some have responded but I would hope you wouldn't judge an entire religion based on *imperfect* people. After all, that's all this Church has as members.

Since this is Christmas and a season of exchanging gifts – what are some of your thoughts concerning D&C 42:54

     The Traveler

A sincere "thank you" doesn't cost anything yet too many can't seem to even manage that. An example - For years, I've wondered why those who get Christmas provided by the ward via an angel tree can't write thank you notes and hang them where the 'I want' tags were. It can still be done anonymously and it would show that they didn't just expect it or feel entitled.

Honest, non-snarky observation: If your fiancée has struggled with pornography, that at least seems to indicate that she likes sex.

I'm not sure this follows.  There's a very big difference between watching the movie and living the movie.  Especially for a female.

    Amen and amen!!

Did you provide a link to this quote, or was this spoken in a time that this was not recorded by the Church?

Wish I had a quote. It was said prior to the 'official' part but those that were there heard it and someone also heard a seventy confirm that the seal is open. Looking over those scriptures should shed some light though as well.

(the 6th and 7th overlap btw)

Hmm, a few things here. One of my friends who is a lawyer for the church worked out the Roman Calendar days (there were only 350 days in the Roman calendar so every decade the seasons were reversed in Rome) and the year the globe ceased using the Roman Calendar. He then worked out the leap years and a few other miracles where the sun/moon were stopped. He then factored in the prophecy that Christ would come at the end of the 4,000 years and then there'd be 2,000 years before the beginning of the seventh... now, if you work it all out -and I can't show you his math because I don't have it here with me-  it places the beginning of the 7,000 at the year 2027-2028.

You (and your friend) may want to consider that D&C 20:1 seems to accept our current calendar.

But I am certainly always open to listening to various Mormon perspectives on the Second Coming.

Just noticed your edit. You may want to check out nofearpreps.com for more info. (a good resource but not where the anon quotes came from - just fyi)
