Wish I had a quote. It was said prior to the 'official' part but those that were there heard it and someone also heard a seventy confirm that the seal is open. Looking over those scriptures should shed some light though as well.

I get that but when the wife of the president of the quorum of the 12 is saying this at a worldwide devotional, it should get people's attention:
"So, now a question as I conclude: What if you learned that the Savior had already returned to this earth—that He, as part of His Second Coming, had already met with some of His true followers in several marvelous, large gatherings13—gatherings about which the world, including CNN and the blogosphere, knew nothing. If you found out that the Savior was already on the earth, what would you desperately want to do today, and what would you be willing and ready to do tomorrow?"

Also anonymous but something to consider:
The signs are happening in such rapid succession, there can be no doubt we are in the last few years.  We know He will come and work on the earth helping to build the New Jerusalem and be in Adam Ondi-Ahman and the Old Jerusalem several years before he officially comes in His Glory.
I'm not an expert or here to convince anyone of anything. I also realize people are at different levels of readiness for this information but again, there are people studying and paying attention and noticing the subtle clues Church leaders have and are giving.

I"ll keep this person anonymous but there are people who've studied this quite a bit and say that Pres. Hinckley indicated the seal opened at the dedication of the Palmyra Temple:
April 6, 2000 was the prophesied temple dedication from Revelations 7 & Joel 1 where all members would attend. Not possible in our day if not for technology which allowed ALL worthy members to watch as Palmyra was the first (of only two temple dedications) that were televised world wide. And immediately after, in Rev 8:1 the 7th seal was opened, and the space of 'half an hour' (or 20.83 years in the Lords time) began.
As far as where I stand, I think it's better to think things are closer than to think we still have a long way to go.

You're right. No one knows the day or hour but by paying attention to the signs (which we're supposed to do), you can figure out the season. ; )

This is my reasoning as well. When the power actually did go out here (tornado), several stores where open: chainsaws, generators, gas, etc. but they would not/couldn't take credit card for a couple of days.
We (family of 6) keep a about 2k. If we needed to leave quick, this could keep us alive for a couple weeks without a credit card. I found the best hiding place in my home for it is in the...
Or hide it in your Book of Mormon, the Isaiah chapters, no one ever looks there.

In politics, in business, in marriage, in all sorts of stuff, it often seems that the cover up and denial generates more anger and mistrust than the act that is being covered up.
I suspect that it would be helpful for both of you to educate yourself together on the nature of addiction, how/when/why it occurs, and what can be done about it. I'm sure there are a lot of good resources, both in the church and in the community that you could watch/read/listen to together, and then discuss together. A lot of fear and uncertainty is generated by ignorance and misunderstanding, whereas an informed understanding is more likely to lead to compassion, support and empathy.

Don't discount the possibility that she already knows or suspects, based on changes in your behaviour, and is just waiting and hoping for you to come forward and tell her. Sometimes observant partners can know when these things are happening.

@workingonit, the sooner you confess, the sooner you'll feel better and return to the progress you have been making!  It seems like most addicts experience a relapse at some point, the key is not to let it pull you down farther than necessary.  Try to figure out why the temptation succeeded this time - so that next time, you can recognize the risk and prepare for it.
    If you tell her this:
I think she'll prove to be as noble as she has been to date (based on your report of her sticking with you despite the same-sex affairs).  (My personal opinion, the porn is much less hurtful than that would be.)
Anyway, the important thing is not to wait - waiting makes it worse for you and her.  Waiting makes her more likely to question whether you're committed to change and whether there's more you haven't told her.  Telling her right away gives her confidence that's not the case.  Don't make it worse.  Go tell her.  Right now.  Immediately.
Whatever else you do, don't let Satan convince you this alters your value or ability to get back on track, or God's love for you - tell him to take a hike if he tries telling you that.

I've been a fairly active member of this forum for most of this year.  I didn't just pop in one time for this thread.  What @zil said is correct; I was never looking for people to confirm or deny that this is a good or bad decision.  However, because I expected people to do that anyway, I included and responded with information that would defend and make it clear that our finances and lifestyle put us in a position to reasonably make this work without straining us.  That said. the finances are really not the point of the question, there are plenty of people in this forum who are just as or more frugal than me (see @Carborendum's savings on the Whopper!), and/or who have greater incomes than me (will keep them nameless), so I have no reason to boast, although I am extremely grateful to Heavenly Father for the blessings he has provided to my family.  I am just looking for other people's experiences where they have been inspired to do something against the norm and/or against the general guidance of the Church, and later were able to confirm that the inspiration was accurate.  I gave the example of Nephi earlier as it came to mind.
Either way, I do appreciate someone who would look at this with your perspective, although I would contend that this is definitely not the weirdest thread ever!

Yeah, well some people (those who actually get ahead financially speaking) are very well attuned financially.  I save 50% of my income.  Some people get the financial system and the path to true financial prosperity in this life.  It requires a lot of hard work, a lot of sacrifice over a long period of time. You don't have to make 150k/year to be well off . . . in fact there are plenty of people who make 150k/year who live paycheck to paycheck. And I guarantee there are people who make 60k/year who after 30 years have more wealth than those who make 150k/year.
It's an attitude of financial discipline and knowing what you are getting into.  It's called minimizing your expenses, little to no debt, saving a significant portion of your income and then using those savings wisely (not trying to chase financial bubbles).
But unfortunately, most people are stupid when it comes to money . . . I wish that weren't the case, we'd be a lot better off as a society.

I tend to agree, you should have the ideal of staying in a place for a long period of time.  But more than that you need to have the flexibility to go where the jobs are!
And given a recession, the best thing one can do is pick up and move (even if it is from the north end of town to the south end of town) to where the jobs are.  The people who are smart figure out real quick, "if I lose my job, I'm going to find a job and I'm going to go where that job is located!"  That's the part people don't think about.
And you can't have that flexibility with a mortgage hanging around your neck.

I don't think @person0 was bragging.  I don't think he was asking if we think it's OK (despite the number of people telling him what he already knew about not needing more).  I think he was asking if anyone else had ever experienced revelation telling them to do something which the Church recommends we avoid.  He was looking for a pattern (which he later realized could be found in scripture) that would give him a little more assurance.

Oh it's way worse than this.  What you are seeing is just the teeny, tiny, tip of the iceberg.
There are real Gadianton Robbers within the U.S. Government.  What you are seeing is just a little bit of the deep, dark underbelly of those who pull the strings and control the U.S. government.  R, D it doesn't matter they are part of the uni-party.

And I understand your position . . . . but this is a political take-down of the highest magnitude and order.
Here is what I believe the actual truth to be.  I do believe that Moore most likely dated younger women, juniors or seniors in high school above the age of consent, 17-18.  I do believe that he probably asked their parents to take them out.  I do not believe that he harassed or did anything untoward to any of this women.
The greatest lies are those lies which are mixed with truth.
This is a great hit, a classic to see evil people work.  Because if you separate out the two (the lies from the truth) a picture of two totally different people emerge . . .and it's very easy to see the progression of a lie.
From the first reporting of the 3 women who claimed to date him when they were teenager and the unnamed 14 year-old.  All three named women who dated him said that he was a gentleman and asked permission of their mother.   So I believe that was true; I believe the unnamed 14 year old was a total complete utter fabrication.  We still don't know who that 14-year old was and it reads like somebody's made-up story of what they think would happen had he done this not what actually happened.
Alright, so now we've established a baseline for the lie mixed in with truth; i.e. take a true event (dating younger women . ..nothing wrong with that back in the late 70s in Alabama!) mix it in with some lies (sexual assault).  Now all the while you are doing this, you are looking for a "credible face" to make a personal accusation.  So you bring in Gloria Allred and find some woman who has this story.  She spins a tale of sexual assault.
Now you can't claim rape, b/c rape is a different beast, too many people would say "you were raped and you never reported it!!! that's dumb".  So you spin a tale of assault, just serious enough that it pisses people off but not serious enough to raise the radar of this is a lie.  So now that you have a "credible" witness you'd now but a face to the lie you told in the newspaper article.  Now you can start bringing out every Jane and Jill out there . . .it doesn't have to be corroborated, it doesn't have to be credible it just continues to build upon the lie.
The mall . . .well funny enough everyone who would have actually had authority in "banning him" is dead, and those who claim he was banned rely on 3rd party .. .well the night guard J.D. Thomas told me he was banned . . .can't talk to J.D., can't talk to the actual manager.
And from now until election they will trot out more and more woman . . .we'll probably but up to 20+ by the time this is done and not one will actually be credible.
Now let's go back to the yearbook woman.
She just "conveniently forgot" to mention that Judge Roy Moore was the judge presiding over her own divorce proceeding in the mid 90s!!!  This "event" was so tramatic that when he was the presiding judge over a divorce she didn't speak up, didn't say a word, didn't file a motion all b/c she was "scared".
    Lol, give me a break.
Political takedown of the highest order.

I think it may all be credible, but you'd think after 40 years they may have spilled the beans earlier, OR, it really didn't matter that much to them in the way they are making it a big deal now.
When he was a Judge (and a judge is a FAR more serious position of where one really needs that infallibility), , ESPECIALLY on the Supreme Court, one would think that there were far more important and specific situations in this regards to his morality where it would have been, or should have been brought up.  If it wasn't important enough for them to do so now, it brings into question...what makes it so important NOW!?
On the otherhand, this timing...it's absolutely a political assassination.  They didn't feel it was important for any REAL moral or personal reason, but when it's a Senate Seat where it could determine a party majority or minority...ONLY THEN is it important.  This is absolutely politically motivated and has nothing to do with whether the accusers really were hurt or not from the timing and appearance of it.
I would back them if it didn't seem so politically motivated, but as it is...I wouldn't want Moore elected, but in this case I'd absolutely vote for Moore just do to the fact that I am not going to be that manipulated by political media that are doing stunts like this. It should infuriate many red-blooded American that the media thinks they can control them to the degree that they are doing this.
Edit:  We all have different opinions though, but for me, it's absolutely revolting that the media does things like this.  I suppose though, for voters in Alabama it will come down to their own personal convictions.  If he did these things 40 years ago it is not a good thing, in fact it seems very bad.  However, if it didn't impact the accusers enough to come forward for 40 years when he was dictating morality from the highest court of the land in Alabama's bench...then I'm not sure why it should be big enough to impact others votes now when he is in the less then perfect running for a Senate Seat.  To each their own though.

I experienced a similar scenario with my cousin's husband.
After my mission I was searching for a job in the Salt Lake City area.  My cousin's husband helped me find a job in the same building that he worked in.  I also needed a place to live and my cousin invited me to live with them until I could find a place.  Being a poor working girl and also going to school, money was tight so I was grateful to them for allowing me to stay with them until I could find roommates and get my own place. We carpooled to work and everything was fine until one day my cousin's husband told me he was attracted to me.  Wow!  That was a shock!  I had no idea he felt this way.  Needless to say, I moved out within a week.
My feelings were one of "ick".  This was not cool!!  My regard for him took a nosedive.  Where I once thought he was an upright guy, I now thought of him as a perv.  I felt terrible.  I wondered if I had ever done anything to let him think I was interested in him.  I was not.  I had never been.  I felt bad for my cousin.  How could he be so disrespectful to her?
Have you ever thought about what would happen if you actually told your SIL your feelings?   She may have the same reaction that I had.  One of revulsion.  That's what she should feel.  But, what if it isn't revulsion on her part, and she tells you she is interested in you as well.  Then what?  Let's say you keep it on the up and up, and no hanky panky occurs, but you divorce your wife.  Can you imagine the family dynamics if you should marry your SIL?  There would never be a comfortable time with the in-laws.  How could there be?  How could your children ever be comfortable with such a situation.  This is a losing scenario.,  No matter how you look at it.  It would not be good!!!  Never tell your SIL your feelings about her if you want her respect.

If you come here talking about how your wife might not be the one and putting up a poll asking if you should get with her sister, I don't understand how you can be surprised when a group of faithful LDS asks you if you've lost your ever-loving mind.   This isn't the Hedonism chat room.
