It's bad enough voting for the least of two evils, this year it's the least scary. 🤷‍♀️

I’m seeing people tell us to vote for Trump because, correctly, a staying home or going third party is voting for Biden.
However, most of these people stayed home or voted third party in 08 and 12. Now they are trying to act like the pragmatic realists lecturing their idealistic friends. It’s astounding how politics changes people.

I think a lot of "uncommitted" voters are going to end up voting for Biden. Maybe not all of them, but hopefully enough to reelect him. This pushback during the primary cycle is meant to send Dems a message, namely that Biden can't win on the strength of suburban white liberal voters alone. He NEEDS leftists, Muslims, and other minority voters behind him, and their support isn't automatic. The hope is that the pressure will expedite efforts to establish a cease-fire in Gaza. The sooner that happens, the more time Biden has to mend bridges. I can't speak to how seriously the "uncommitted" movement is being taken at the White house, but I think it's safe to say that Michigan Dem leaders are nervous, and word I'm getting from the Twin Cities is that this week's DFL caucus was.... stressful. The senior caucus in particular seems worried about DSA "infiltration".

I hated voting for Trump in 2016 and 2020. For reasons outlined by @JohnsonJonesI might not be able to do it this time. If I vote for Biden it'll be my first Democrat vote for President since I began voting (previous millenium). God is good. This election is tough.

Pray and choose the best one according to your conscience.
To me, Trump is apologetically a liar, thief and adulterer.  If nothing else, Joe Biden goes to church, has not committed adultery as far as we know, and loves his family.
That's not to say Joe Biden is a great or perfect person, he's not.  There are many that are much more moral and righteous than he is, but of the two, he seems to me to be the more righteous individual.
It has nothing to do with the policies in this, just pointing out that this is one factor behind my decision of who I'll probably vote for.
The other is that there are comments from Trump that sound scarily like what Hitler said before he seized power and some of the things Trump has inferred sound scarily as if he would do away with democracy and other items if he could.  Whenever he says something he points a finger, but three fingers are pointing back at him and normally that's because what he is accusing others of is what he WANTS to do or has tried to do (In my opinion).
From what I've read and seen, that's untrue.
An example of what Trump really feels about Ukraine probably can be seen from the first attempt to Impeach him (individuals call it an impeachment, but only the house called the impeachment, but as he was not convicted by the Senate and acquitted, he wasn't really impeached IMO).
He attempted to withhold aid from the Ukraine for his own personal gain (a futile attempt as the President doesn't hold the purse strings in the way he was trying, Congress does, so it really doesn't make sense that he could be charged under that idea as he didn't have the power to do so in the first place...once again...IMO).
I think Ukraine would be under Russian control today if Trump had been President at the time of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.  His initial response to the Russian invasion before his people got him to backtrack says it all to me...
That's my personal opinion.  Trump didn't seem to show much spine when he was talking with Putin and Putin seemed to almost always have the upper hand with Trump...almost as if Putin had something over Trump.

That said...my vote will be for Biden if it is between those two most likely...BUT for many who vote that way I expect it's not going to be so much that they are voting for Biden or support him, but that the are voting against  Trump.
I honestly think that if the Republicans were being honest with themselves, they'd realize Nikki Haley has a much better chance of winning against Biden than Trump simply for that factor alone.  Many will swallow their dislike of democrats just to vote against Trump, but that sentiment isn't there if Haley was running.

Well, Pocahontas was very special in Disney's version...she somehow talked to all the plants and trees and such.  She probably had some tranquilizer dart effect with her voice which paralyzed MaMa bear there or something.  Either that or those shrooms she had were pretty strong to affect both her and John Smith at the same time.

If we are strict with interpretation, the Canaanite (not considered a member) woman was not a member and most people would be offended at being likened to a dog at a master's table.
But she took no offense, accepted the metaphor, continued with the metaphor, and her daughter was made hole. I'm thinking, most people would be offended at this type of straight forward analogy.

After years of study and meditation (which recently I had several years to do) I finally realized it's about authority and the temple. When Israel's priests weren't behaving well, where could the people take their sacrifices? They still had to take them to the same priests at the same temple. So, using that scriptural precedent - even IF the Church is having issues, your access to eternal temple covenants remains with the authorities of the Church.

I may not know much about bears, but one thing I have learned from the good people of Maine: you do not interfere with a mother bear's cubs, unless you want your bodily appendages seriously rearranged.
So what was Walt Disney thinking of with the bear scene from Pocahontas? John Smith is about to shoot the bear, but Pocahontas stops him and leads him into the bears' den. There she picks up one of the cubs and hands it to Smith. The cub playfully pulls Smith's helmet down over his eyes. Meanwhile mummy bear is standing peacefully by, not ripping anyone's arms and legs off.
The moral is, if you want to know what to do when you meet a bear, don't ask Mr Disney.

We have lived in our same house in northern Utah County for 36 years and have been in 4 different wards and back and forth to a couple of those wards. Our street seems to be the dividing line when the wards get split or realigned. The small community we moved into has really grown.

I hear you. I've come to the conclusion that I don't care if people say I'm wasting my vote - I'm going to support whoever best reflects my values. Voting for the Red guy or Blue guy would be a waste anyway IMHO.
Some time back I came across the Catholic social teaching of distributism, which l believe aligns well with scriptural teachings. I've found a small party made up of mostly Catholics that best represents my nuanced views on politics. I will be supporting their candidates.

I have a fantasy that involves Trump, Biden and CONTROL-ALT-DELETE. Then I wake up to a Dystopian world in which these two are the main candidates for POTUS. I used to call myself a conservative. Now I am moderately so. I really haven't changed, but the world and the Republicans have. For example, I believe that the US should support Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. We should counter Chinese ambitions. I used to be considered a bit of a hawk and an anti-communist. Now, Trump and Tucker label me a globalist and say that folks like me (well, Ben Shapiro to be honest) don't love America. Of course, the alternative is Biden and Harris. So, I'm at a loss. Any counsel?

The Democrats are becoming the Republicans. Who wants to support Ukraine? Israel? Who's attacking Anti-Communists for not loving America (Tucker Carlson)? Next thing you know, Democrats will be demonstrating to RE-fund the police. When they do, I may switch parties.

I'd agree with voters showing up to vote with ID (come on folks, it's not THAT hard to get an ID, it takes TIME though), with the caveat...they NEED to open more voting places if they want everyone to vote in person...INCLUDING the areas that do not lean towards your party (there's been a move in some states to get rid of voting locations in large urban areas....and try to restrict how many can vote in those urban areas).   Also, make it so that an employer can be FINED if they try to make it so that their employees do not have time to vote...OR try to mandate (same with unions) or force their employees to vote a specific or certain way.
Ensure every US citizen who has the right to vote has the opportunity to vote...and I'm right there with you in saying that making sure those who vote have identification and show up in person at the polls is the right thing to do.

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THIS!!!!
I immediately tried to find a conservative slant or report on this as I can't believe this story has the entire context of what was being said.  If it is...what in the world!!!???
Certainly there had to be an uproar in the audience shouting down such a statement?
I can't believe ANYONE in US politics would say something like this and get away with it!?
Something is seriously wrong with the party if they are having speakers that are allowed to say such things without a TON of pushback and then proclamations against such statements if the article states it in context (I can't believe it is saying all there is, there HAS to be more context to this type of statement than what the article shows...I can't find it though...hopefully someone here can find it where it doesn't sound as bad as it is made out to sound in the article).

When I think of this scripture a few things come to my mind. The first is when Christ said to Peter, paraphrased, "Before the cock crows thrice you will deny me thrice." The hour or time for this to come wasn't known but it did come quickly. In the moment, Peter could have easily seen what was happening, but it wasn't until the third crow that the prophesy did prick him.
This highlights that members of the Church who are not read (prepared for) the signs of Christ coming will come as a thief in the night. Also, Peter did not believe this would be the case, so when the cock was crowing his mental state dismissed the first and the second. For some, they will dismiss the signs because they do not believe these are the signs.
The second is that we are aware of a general assembly that will happen. We understand Adam will preside (if I'm remembering correctly) and Christ will come to his people at this assembly. These people will not be surprised as to the day and hour the Lord will come again. This brings back to my remembrance the words of Nephi when they were in a time of need and the Lord said, "Tomorrow I come into the world." (paraphrased)
If we believe in the signs, if we have studied the signs, we will be watching and we will be prepared. The Spirit, like with Nephi, will bare witness of the Lord's return to those who are listening. To those who are not, it will be similar to the Nephites at Christ's first coming to them. The Spirit spoke (or the Father here) and they comprehended it not. Or like Amulek, who said something to this nature the Lord did call but I did not listen.

JS Matthew 1:48 Therefore be ye also ready, for in such an hour as ye think not, the Son of Man cometh.
We know that if we are wise and understand the scriptures we can know the season in which Christ will return but not the specific day or hour. This verse seems to imply that even if we know the season we may still be surprised when it actually happens. It makes me wonder what the conditions will be like so as to make His coming unexpected.
I was watching a YouTube video yesterday where the guy was performing some pretty serious prophetic gymnastics to make this General Conference as a possible time of His coming. While I gave him a really low overall score I did award him some difficulty points. 😃
But it did make me wonder about two different possibilities for an unexpected Second Coming. The first is that some signs are fulfilled without us fully realizing it (which this guy was relying heavily upon). The second is that certain events happen so quickly that it just catches us off guard how quickly things transpire. This second theory would seem to support the idea of a hastening and the times being cut short. While I don't think things will happen so quickly as to make this General Conference a viable candidate it does make me wonder just how quickly it could take place.

I strongly disagree. J6 was the act of right-wing extremists. Left wing extremists have no love for Biden. Liberal Dems will weep if Biden loses, but there won't be an insurrection. Liberals don't have the stomach for that. Investigations, perhaps, but nothing outside the official bureaucratic channels.

Ooh - warning - snark incoming.
You're absolutely correct.  Other than matters that have to do with State, Treasury, Interior, Agriculture, Justice, Commerce, Labor, Defense, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Transportation, Energy, Education, Veterans Affairs, and Homeland Security, executive orders really have no power whatsoever.
And with a paltry $105 trillion to spend every year, and a scant 4.3 million employees to do the executive's will, what real impact could executive orders possibly have?
