Chilean got a reaction from Morgaine in Was jesus married
I personally don't think Jesus was married. His mission wasn't about getting married and forming a family. He came to perform the atoning sacrifice.
Plus... I don't think he needs a temple marriage to become a God, as we know in the pre-mortal existence for some reason he was way ahead of all of us.

I served as a Ward Missionary for a couple of years.  It was awesome.  I spent most of my calling partnering with the full-time missionaries proselyting to investigators.  I'm an adult convert so I didn't have the opportunity to serve a full-time mission.  I refer to that calling as my "mission experience".  Maybe you can go talk to your Ward Mission Leader and see if you can do something for the ward mission in the meantime.  That way, even if you don't get called back out to the field, you're already fulfilling your duties as a missionary.

Chilean, I don't want to sound preachy but I am sure the OP knows exactly what he/she did. I don't think it is helpful to remind a brother or a sister their past transgressions specially after the repentance process took place. The Lord is clear when He says he does not remember them "no more". So even though I understand your frustration, my heart goes out to anyone who has chosen to be honest with themselves and confess their sins, particularly during a mission. It takes a lot of guts. It is time to support each other, it could be us...

Heck, I hold no one on a pedestal. Humans are humans and many do stupid and illegal stuff, yes even members of the church.

I don’t really understand where your offense or view of this being sexist is coming from, but that is likely due to me alreadying having a love for Jordan peterson.
Of all the conservative speakers out there, he, at least to me, seems to be the most down to earth and logically minded of them all.
Also, having seen him speak on multiple occasions, I know he is not sexist. The idea he seems to be attacking is a feminist ideology that woman have been forced into the unimportant and unfulfilling duty of child bearing and raising. The reason he isn’t addressing men is because for the most part, men don’t fall for this.  Jordan is only arguing that woman should desire motherhood and realize life will be hard.
Having grown up with the generation he is talking about, I can back his statements and say they are true (but not for everyone). There were countless woman in my highly Mormon and conservative Utah high school and college that had no desire to have children and believed they needed to do something great. And the way the measures greatness was by the money they made.
This isn’t an attack on woman, but an attack on a dangerous personal and societal ideology.

Yeah, no, anatess.  I have a former bishop who did time for molesting a child (after he was bishop).  George P. Lee of the seventy molested a young girl.  A decade plus back, an online sting operation in Idaho grabbed Stake President Clayton R. Hildreth who had flown in from another state, box of lingerie in hand, hoping to hook up with someone he thought was a 15 yr old girl.
The general notion is offensive.  We hate thinking about such things, and most good people have a bit of hardwiring in them that just makes it hard to believe that anyone could do such things to a child, much less respected folks from good families.  But humans are humans - and just because someone is the husband of a daughter of the president of the church, doesn't make him not human.
"That sort of thing just doesn't happen with this group of people" - that's a lie spawned in the pit of hell, and it belongs in the 1980's where it started to die off.  I am not saying the current news story is true.  I'm saying it is wrong to just write it off as false because we like Pres. Nelson and assume his family to be immune to such things.

Hi and welcome elwplm!  Honestly, no matter what happens, your road is kind of the same.  Just walk the path of a disciple of Christ, no matter what.  If you return to the mission field, walk the path there.  If you are reassigned to a home-country mission, walk there.  Released and 'thanks for your service'?  Walk your path at home.
Thinking about things this way helps me deal with the uncertainties of my life.  When big changes out of my control might be coming, I find it comforting to think about how I can be a disciple, be everything God wants from me, no matter what the actual change.

I think it depends what kind of exercise you're going to perform.  At the end it's your choice to do whatever you want, and whatever feels right in your heart.
I sometimes wear the garment when exercising, some other times I only wear the bottom part. But as soon as I'm done taking a shower I put them back on. I don't go walking around to run errands without garments, some members like doing that after working out...

Chilean reacted to Just_A_Guy in How important is what we did in high school? Kavanaugh accusation
    1.  You’re sort of bolstering my point here, by normalizing Kavanaugh’s alleged behavior and passing it off as a typical juvenile moral weakness.  Normalization is a major step on the road to acceptance—we saw the left use the same tactics in, inter alia, the sexual revolution.
And it’s of a piece with several other issues the GOP has grappled with over the past two or three years as increasingly vocal subsets of the party have justified, not just BK’s alleged drinking, but his alleged assault on Ford; justified Roy Moore’s creepiness, made excuses for P-gate, and praised candidates’ rank dishonesties as the tactics of a “master persuader”.
    2.  I would also suggest that you’re taking your eye off the ball here.  The priority isn’t to give Kavanaugh whatever we think his “just desserts” ought to be for a life well-lived (or not).  The priority is to get a solid constitutionalist on SCOTUS—ideally one who hasn’t raped anyone, hasn’t tried to rape anyone, and (if it’s not asking too much) didn’t spend their teenaged years engaging in repeated violations of state law.  (I don’t know whether Kavanaugh fits that bill or not; but there are others who do, and that’s the overarching point vis a vis our overall priority.)
    3.  To be clear (and maybe I haven’t been articulate on this point so far), I’m not convinced that underaged drinking per se disqualifies BK from SCOTUS.  (I don’t love it, but it’s not a deal-killer.)  It does, however, make his confirmation harder than it needs to be; and that has strategic implications for whether the GOP wants to stick with him or not.
And I do find it problematic when BK’s personality cult goes overboard with defenses like “but really, who hasn’t done that at some point?”
Whether it’s drinking, or attempted rape—You know who hasn’t done that?  Me.
You know who hasn’t done that?  My brother.
You know who (I believe, based on your glowing statements elsewhere) hasn’t done that?  Your sons.
This ain’t the moon I’m asking for.  I expect decency, not divinity.

My kids are old now. But when they were little I would take them outside the sacrament room and put them in time out.  I'm one of those moms that does take kids out of sacrament if they are being irreverent. I believe members goes to sacrament to feel the spirit, to renew their commitments, to hear something that will inspire them, and if my kids are disturbing other I will take them out, and have a talk. Mine are pretty good now, they are 11, almost 9, and 4, the 4 yrs old is the one that could give us problem sometimes.
Yesterday I went to church only to sacrament with the 3 of them by myself, as my husband was at the hospital with his dad whos at the ICU. I knew from the start that it was gonna be tiresome to go with them to church without my husband, as the 4 yrs old just whines a lot, but I brought help and actually he was super good the whole time... I was so proud of him...

I don't think we are too far apart on the thinking here.  It really is an issue of shame.  That is a huge problem for the LDS culture.   Sin is so regarded as shameful and none of us like the feeling of shame.  The thought goes through the mind, am I going to get kicked out of the church?  Am I going to be looked down on at church?  Am I going to get a scarlet letter?
I doubt most guys know the answer to these questions, nor do the women in their lives.
We are all human and have our demons.  It would be great if we could look past those demons and see we are all children of God who need his help.
