No, I don't think I've ever thought about that. I Think many of the things  He let's happen are consequences of men's agency. So... I'm not sure if it's so much of "God's doing" but our on acts, followed by consequences.

Yes, He loves us with an infinite love, He created a plan for us to return to live with him...ONLY if we wanted to, the 1/3 chose to follow Satan, even when he was going against Heavenly Father's plan.

Hahaha because I'm assuming there are laws in heaven just like there are laws here on Earth. God cannot simply ignore the laws of justice, if He was to do that (which he never will) he will cease to be God.
Heck, Jesus already paid the debt. There's no failure if you keep trying.         "Why not design a system that allows for exaltation without the chance of failure? "  Lehi said: There's has to be opposition.       Plus, winning or failing is up to ourselves. His plan is not a failure plan if we choose to obey. Everyone has the potential to succeed and become like Him.

When I was single, after my divorce, I went to the singles ward (I was about 26 I think)... and I hated it, because they (the brothers) had that checklist. I thought, and still think, is a very immature way to judging people you don't know and don't know anything about. Plus, what? you just returned from your mission and think you know everything about real life?  I think the most judgmental people at church are the brothers in the YSA with their stupid checklists. And that is why there are so many single sisters, because the brothers marry the 18 yrs old coming out of YW, dreaming of a return missionary prince and a temple marriage.

In my own family- a sister who has never married. Another sister who was married in the temple, had 11 children, now going through a messy divorce. A son who got married in the temple, now going through beginning stages of separation and divorce. A brother who also got married in the temple, still happily married. Myself, married outside the temple, later got sealed, still happily married. Another brother who fell away from the church and got married, still happily married.
From what I can gather just within my own family- temple marriage guarantees nothing as far as compatibility and staying together. So then, what is it really? This is why it bothers me when people demand to find a spouse who meets their checklist of religious ideals as the first critria. My son's friends are in that same boat- about half of his friends are now either divorced or separated who are or were LDS. We must change the mindset.

I'm one of those! I divorced my ex for exactly those 2 reasons.  Now I'm happily married to my new husband of over 2 years, and we just married in the temple last June.
You mentioned forgiveness. Forgiveness is sooooo powerful, it can help heal broken hearts! I'm grateful my ex and I can be in the same room together, he and his girlfriend have been in our home a few times visiting our kids.  My husband and I wish for my ex to put his life in order and go back to church as he's been inactive since about our divorce, and we know coming back to Church would bring happiness and joy to his life, but at this moment he's just comfortable in the world. But we wish him the best, and he's always welcome in our home. All because of forgiveness.

From the time I first heard of the Church until I became a member was 36 years. I am thankful that Saints I came into contact with had the wisdom to understand that I was operating with incomplete information and helped me become the best Christian I could be with the information I had.
That this man is going as far as he can is to be commended. That he is trying to create peace between us and those who are often hostile towards our faith is to be applauded.

    Welcome, @Shrinks!
If you have broken the law of chastity, you need to go see your bishop - inconvenient or not.  No matter how bad going to the bishop may seem, not going is much worse, especially in the long run.  You're looking for a way to have the companionship and guidance of the Holy Ghost while denying what the Holy Ghost would tell you first and foremost - which is to repent.  So go do what you need to do to become whole again, then worry about receiving other guidance.

If the Bishop thought all the Young Men would take it in good faith like my son, he probably would have.  But, I'm thinking he knew that the other Young Men would take it like you would've taken it - "What a pharisee that bishop is!".
My son has been dating a Catholic girl for over 3 years now.  They've known each other since they were babies but they live halfway across the USA from each other.  Well, correction - she WAS a Catholic.  She's LDS now.  My son baptized her last Christmas.

Even simply reading the BoM is a victory in many ways. For the most part the truths therein are plain and precious.

It has come to my attention that sharing the gospel doesn't just potentially raise the people to whom the gospel is shared, but it also raises up the person doing the sharing. So, in terms of assisting in the fulfillment of God's plan, there is a level of self benefit to sharing.
    Thanks, -Wade Englund-

If you have the answer to life's great questions, and the biggest source of joy in the universe, why WAIT to share it?
Yes, the Gospel brings joy in the big-post-mortal picture, but it all brings joy NOW.  It brings a sense of purpose NOW.  It brings comfort NOW.  It guides us and saves us so much future heartbreak just in this mortal life.
    Why wait?

2nd great commandment - Love Others as yourself.
Loving Others means bringing them closer to Christ's ideal which is where happiness lies - not just in the world to come but in this world as well.  Preaching the True gospel is the FIRST step in bringing them closer to Christ's example.

Chilean reacted to Fether in How is sharing the gospel important to god's plan
The plan of salvation includes more than just getting a body, saying I believe in Christ, and receiving the ordinances. There are countless amount of people that do this and will not receive exaltation.
    Spencer W Kimball said
“There are even many members of the church who are lax and careless and who continually procrastinate. They live the gospel casually but not devoutly. They have complied with some requirements but are not a valiant. They do no major crime by merely fail to do the things required. Things like paying tithing, living the word of wisdom, having family prayers, fasting, attending meetings, serving. Perhaps they do not consider such omissions to be sins, yet these for the kinds of things which the five foolish virgins of Jesus parable we’re probably guilty. The 10 virgins being launch it to the kingdom and had every right to the blessings. Except at five we’re not Valliant and we’re not ready when the great day came. They were unprepared through not living all the commandments. They were barely disappointed at being shut out from the marriage. As likewise there modern counterparts will be… it is true that many latter day saints, having been baptized and confirmed members of the church, and some even having received their endowments and having been married and sealed in the holy temple, I felt that they were the scare and teed the blessings of exaltation and eternal life. But this is not so there are two basic requirements every so much for sale or he can obtain to that great blessing offered. He must receive the ordinances and he must be faithful, overcoming his weaknesses. Hence not all who claim to be latter-day Saints will be exalted”
We must learn to be as God is, to live the life he would live. That includes living righteously, serving others, doing missionary work and work for the dead.
Accepting the gospel in this life may not be “necessary”, but if it is placed before you and you reject it and choose not to live by it’s teachings, don’t expect to find yourself in the Celestial Kingdom.
    Alma 34:34-35 says
”that same spirit which doth possess your bodies at the time that ye go out of this life, that same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world.
... For behold, if ye have procrastinated the day of your repentance even until death, behold, ye have become subjected to the spirit of the devil, and he doth seal you his;”
    Doctrine and Covenants 88:22-24 says
”22 For he who is not able to abide the law of a celestial kingdom cannot abide a celestial glory.
23 And he who cannot abide the law of a terrestrial kingdom cannot abide a terrestrial glory.
24 And he who cannot abide the law of a telestial kingdom cannot abide a telestial glory; therefore he is not meet for a kingdom of glory. Therefore he must abide a kingdom which is not a kingdom of glory.”
unless we learn to abide the laws of the celestial kingdom, we will not be fit for it

A great segment from a talk by Bruce R McConkie where he dispels false doctrines and heresies
“Heresy four: There are those who believe that the doctrine of salvation for the dead offers men a second chance for salvation.
I knew a man, now deceased, not a member of the Church, who was a degenerate old reprobate who found pleasure, as he supposed, in living after the manner of the world. A cigarette dangled from his lips, alcohol stenched his breath, and profane and bawdy stories defiled his lips. His moral status left much to be desired.
His wife was a member of the Church, as faithful as she could be under the circumstances. One day she said to him, “You know the Church is true; why won’t you be baptized?” He replied, “Of course I know the Church is true, but I have no intention of changing my habits in order to join it. I prefer to live the way I do. But that doesn’t worry me in the slightest. I know that as soon as I die, you will have someone go to the temple and do the work for me and everything will come out all right in the end anyway.”
He died and she had the work done in the temple. We do not sit in judgment and deny vicarious ordinances to people. But what will it profit him?
There is no such thing as a second chance to gain salvation. This life is the time and the day of our probation. After this day of life, which is given us to prepare for eternity, then cometh the night of darkness wherein there can be no labor performed.
For those who do not have an opportunity to believe and obey the holy word in this life, the first chance to gain salvation will come in the spirit world. If those who hear the word for the first time in the realms ahead are the kind of people who would have accepted the gospel here, had the opportunity been afforded them, they will accept it there. Salvation for the dead is for those whose first chance to gain salvation is in the spirit world.
In the revelation recently added to our canon of holy writ, these words are found:
    Thus came the voice of the Lord unto me, saying: All who have died without a knowledge of this gospel, who would have received it if they had been permitted to tarry, shall be heirs of the celestial kingdom of God;
    Also all that shall die henceforth without a knowledge of it, who would have received it with all their hearts, shall be heirs of that kingdom;
For I, the Lord, will judge all men according to their works, according to the desire of their hearts. [D&C 137:7–9]
There is no other promise of salvation than the one recited in that revelation. Those who reject the gospel in this life and then receive it in the spirit world go not to the celestial, but to the terrestrial kingdom”

I am very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very glad we don't have pres. Hilary. Things are innumerably better in innumerable ways to the other option we were given.

Actually it does if you choose not to carry insurance.  I am only liable for $1000.  End of story.  The law states that he or his insurance is liable for any damages above $1000 if I am more than 50% at fault.

The law here is that you insure your own car and your insurance is to cover the loss.  If you choose to decline collision insurance, that is on the owner of the car regardless of who is at fault.  If he didn't have his car covered, that is on him, not me.
I am 90% sure this was a scam.  Jamming on his breaks to intentionally cause an accident and try and extort money out of us.  Unfortunately, this is not uncommon around here.  Still it was my daughters fault for driving to close.  That is on her and she is paying for the mistake.
If it isn't a scam, I do feel bad for him a bit, but still his choice not to insure his car.  One cannot live in a no-fault state and expect the other person to pay damages that are by law your responsibility.

Yes, she needs to go and serve if that's what she's feeling prompted to do.
Maybe even you could also go and serve. Or get ready for her to come back as a new person, and then marry each other if you guys feel like it.
For either one of you this time, in your youth will be the only time you'll be able to serve a full time mission, by yourself, and teach people the Gospel. Later on, you both could serve senior missions, BUT what she'll learn during her mission will help her become a better woman, wife, mother, and member of the church. Plus she'll grow so much as a woman, and daughter of God.
She needs to go if she's being prompted to go.

Hi. I don't know the details of your husbands life crisis 4 years ago. If I knew I may be able to understand better what he might be going through, but even through the worst of times, his complete lack of faith in Christ might be due to an inner confliction he has harbored for some time and has kept hidden from everyone. It appears as though he is carrying a great burden that is blocking out the light of Christ. My advice is for you to remind him that no matter what, no matter how long it takes, and no matter what he puts you through, you will continue to be there for him because he is your husband and when you married each other you took upon your vows to be faithful and loyal to your husband in sickness and in health and your husband is now spiritually unwell. God bless you both
