  1. The questions are not that simple for me, and I have had a prompting from God, after many nights of sincere prayer, to find out more information about the temple, I'm not going to ignore God.
  2. 1. I need to fully understand what is involved in that community 2. he doesn't need to record anyone because the information is freely available to everyone, its not hidden or secret 3. you don't know whats in my heart, just because I want to know what I'm signing up for does not mean I am not sincere, in fact it is because of my sincerity that I want to know in the first place before I am baptised, if I do this its for life.
  3. They are just trying to protect Australian children from diseases that vaccinations helped to get rid of in the first place. The people still have a choice, if they choose not to vaccinate they can home school their kids and if they are on benefits and don't like the free money they get for doing nothing cut down, then they can get a job. I thought the LDS church was pro-vaccinations
  4. Ok people quick prayer session and I found two youtube channels to distract me from watching the temple videos, I'm not saying I won't watch them before joining, but I am saying I will binge watch as many videos on the below two channels before watching anything on the temple not put out by the church. BYU's Maxwell Institute and BYU Religious Education everyone can chill now!
  5. That may be your opinion and you of course are entitled to it, but I am also entitled to mine, I can't join something if I don't know the entirety of what I am joining, so I will find out what happens in the temple and if I am ok with it then I'm one step closer to being baptised, and that in my opinion, is a good thing. I also don't really agree with your analogy here, the young man knows what sex is, he can't have it until he is married BUT he does know what it is and how it works, his experience when he does have it will be unique and his own BUT he does have an idea of what to expect and what is expected of him in the situation. That is all I am looking for with the temple, confirmation and knowledge of what I am to expect if I join the LDS church and I feel I have every right to know this information BEFORE I am baptised. This is a life long decision for me.
  6. I understand your point. If you are in those videos maybe you can make a complaint and get them taken down? I mean absolutely no disrespect by watching them but you must understand reading a text and seeing something with your own eyes is very different. From my point of view, I want to know what happens in the temple before being baptised so I know exactly what I am signing up for. The church does not produce videos on the temple ordinances for new members to watch to understand the importance of what happens there, so the way I see it, I have no choice but to go to other sources for this information. Any other church (and I have attended quite a few in my search for the true church) is quite welcoming to non-members watching their rituals/ceremonies, they may not be able to participate because they are not members BUT they are more than welcome to watch. I can't just sign up for something if I don't know 100% what I am signing up for, especially when it involves who I am trusting the care of my soul with. I do hope you can understand my point of view here. Again I mean absolutely no disrespect but I can't in good conscious join without knowing.
  7. I'm not mocking anything and I wouldn't be watching a video with intent to mock anything, only to know what it is I will be expected to participate in a year down the track should I join the LDS church. It is to be informed, not to mock.
  8. Jesus actually appeared in an LDS temple in 1836? I need links (church links please) to read all about this. WOW, all I can say is WOW, so excited to look at this.
  9. In Australia if you don't vaccinate your kids, you can't enrol them in any childcare or school. And if you are on government benefits and refuse to vaccinate your kids, they cut your benefits down.
  10. If that is true, then there is no harm in watching the videos then, they are of a guy going through the temple rites with a camera on his shirt button, there is no commentary or anything like that, just what happens in the temple.
  11. like I said earlier yes I have and my answer is I need more information before committing my life to the LDS church
  12. Thank you for saying all this to me, I do appreciate it. I don't expect to know everything, but it does leave a very bad taste in my mouth when there are things that are 'no you can't know that yet' not just as an investigator but even as a member I still can't know until I am worthy to attend the temple. Maybe I'll change my mind but right now I don't like it, I don't think its right, and because of it I am not joining the church at this time until I understand the temple and what happens there. I'm not trying to upset anyone, I'm not trying to be argumentative but that is my opinion, that is where I am at, and that is the way it is for me. I pray every night with a sincere heart to know what to do about this situation and my answer is that I need more information, so that is what I am going to do, get that information, because that is what God is telling me to do
  13. That's the point though, I have no way of knowing that God won't like it, only the word of a church I am looking at joining who won't give me all the information I need to make an informed decision as to whether to join it or not
  14. I am being prompted by GOD not satan, to know exactly what I am getting into before I get into it
  15. I can't join if I don't have all the information, I will do what God prompts me to do, and right now I am being prompted to know exactly what happens in the temple
  16. I have sincerely done that every night and my answer is I need more information, I'm not going to ignore God
  17. Isn't everything forgiven at baptism? The way I see it there is no harm and I"m not breaking any covenants because I haven't made any. It might not be a popular choice to you guys but to me it might just be the only way I can comfortably join the LDS church, and isn't that the most important thing?
  18. thank you for saying this, it means a lot to me. I do feel a bit attacked and misunderstood right now, and I am praying and this is what God is telling me - I need more information, so I can't ignore God now can I? so maybe seeing the videos of the temple ceremonies is a good idea, at least then I will know what I am signing up for
  19. No its not, I don't see it like that at all. For me this is very simple. I'm saying I'm not going to make a life long decision when I don't have all the information.
  20. I never said my eternal soul was in jeopardy, but what church I place the trust in to guide me and help my eternal soul and where it ends up in the afterlife is very important to me, and joining a church that keeps things from its new members is a big problem for me.
  21. No, but my point is a belief in the book of mormon doesn't automatically mean a belief in the LDS church
