If you could possibly arrange for this to happen by this weekend, I would be very grateful!

I stumbled across this when browsing during my lunch.... https://www.mormon.org/christmas/day-of-service
Surprised that this is the first I have heard of it. And now looking for inspiration to participate.
    What are you all planning?

I am sorry you are feeling this way. In answer to your question, yes I do think that you are over reacting. Do you think that your aspergers could be making accepting the change more difficult?
Lots of people on this thread have offered you sound advice. All I have to add is that there is more to come according to a recent interview with President Nelson in Chile:
“We're witnesses to a process of restoration,” said the prophet. “If you think the Church has been fully restored, you're just seeing the beginning. There is much more to come. … Wait till next year. And then the next year. Eat your vitamin pills. Get your rest. It's going to be exciting.”

I was initially shocked and a bit disappointed by the announcement of 2 hours church. Then I examined my feelings and thought of it as a challenge to be more responsible for my own social wellbeing.
I hope that you can find the strength that you need to overcome your initial feelings and also be ready to face the changes that are yet to come.

Apparently you both missed the footnote - temples only need a door on the east side if the Lord himself will show up, in the body, and enter said temple through the door.  The Seattle temple will probably get destroyed at the Second Coming, so, no east door needed.
(See how easy it is to keep a myth alive?  And expand on it?  Maybe work a little harder next time. )

KScience reacted to NeedleinA in 40 Years: Commemorating the 1978 Priesthood and Temple Revelation
We know the ban was put into practice in 1852. What we are not given is the "why" it was put into place.
As long as there is a vacuum/void explaining the "why", our need to understand and justify things will inevitably lead to us promote, create or perpetuate "false teachings, attitudes and perceptions" on occasion as we try to fill that void of knowledge. The church knows this has been and will continue to be an issue, hence:
    My 2 cents

I think it's time for disbelieving Saints to get in line and follow the prophets. And the prophets have said that they disclaim previous theories as any sort of Church doctrine, and to quit speculating about reasons why the Priesthood ban was enacted. Those who preach that the policy was put in place due to racism (either Brigham Young's or the Church memberships') are just as much in violation of these prophetic injunctions as those who preach that premortal actions resulted in the Priesthood ban, and are equally accountable to God for their disobedience and false teachings.

Big picture thought: One of the reasons that I generally prefer denominational churches to ones that are independent, or 'non-denominational,' is that organization usually brings a measure of accountability. There are exceptions, but when a church was built ground-up, largely on the charisma of a founding pastor/bishop/guru/etc. then the possibility for abuse, over time, grows. The theology (liberal, conservative, evangelical, mainline, etc.) matters not. Power tends to corrupt, and when the brand is built largely on a personality, attacks against that personality generally result in "circling the wagons."
When Big Name Megachurch with Big Name Pastor has a scandal, people are surprised, disappointed, and then move on. This story is difficult and somewhat frightening because the biggest, most organized church of all stands accused of systemic cover-up. Nevertheless, I suspect that the "systemic" is not total, but to be found in pockets. A very large church is trying to root out a tragic moral failure. I pray they succeed. It will be better for us all when they do.

ive been meaning to respond to this, im a stay at home dad of two under two so I'm easily sidetracked. my story is a long one so ill give you the condensed version.
i was born and raised in the church, left when i was 17 and didnt look back for many years. wandered in the mists so to speak after i let go of the iron rod (not sure i was ever really holding on to begin with) filled that spiritual void with anything i could thatd numb me to the reality of life without the spirit. (didnt realize this at the time, i thought i was just having a great old time)
ended up married to a non member(many years later) who is a wonderful person so i wanted to get my act together, started slowly reintroducing myself to the gospel and this year i was able to bless both of my sons. my wife is still a non member but shes uniquely very supportive of my return to faith as well as raising my children in the church. i never in a million years thought id be who and where i am today. grateful to my savior and heavenly father for his patience and love.

This may be a small thing, but I am glad to see 'Individual' along with 'Family' in the title of the new guide. We aren't all in families and it only takes a little bit to exclude someone - or a little bit to include them. As a single person, I look forward to the new guide, just to see what the Church is focusing on.  This is exciting news. I'm waiting for tomorrow when I'm sure they will announce 20 new temples and a new missionary age of 16.
