  1. There is a theory out there that American Jews... will flee to Canada in large numbers... .and then from Canada make Aliyah to Israel.

The first statement along the line of this that I saw was in a book Clay and Iron by a Jewish near death experiencer named William Deagle M. D.

Later on a Pastor David Herzog made a similar prediction.

There is logic in Jews going further north..... previous to making Aliyah to Israel.....

    Quote

    Jeremiah 16:14
    Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

But, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers."

OK, this question is straying into politics, which I am trying to generally avoid. But --

Of course Muslims and Jews have a lot of trouble now getting along, based on what I read in the news. What would it take for them to ever be reconciled? Perhaps a lot of Jews and Muslims might not be able to imagine this ever happening. But what would it take?

I like to idealistically believe than any conflict can be resolved. Certainly, the world would be a safer and more peaceful place if tensions in the Middle East went away.

I also understand that this is an emotional and frustrating question for many Jews and Muslims. I apologize if this question causes distress or offense. I guess for fairness we could hope both Jews and Muslims might drop by to give their thoughts on this...

The threat of rising ocean levels.....

the prediction of deserts being turned green in Isaiah chapter 35.....

the massive salt water desalination facility in Israel named Sorek......

an 4.3 trillion USA  petro-dollars in the hands of enemies to America who wish to devalue the USA dollar.......

AND.... an ancient Islamic prediction set the stage for some interesting dialogue at minimum:

    Shalom, my friends.

I hope the peace of HaShem is upon you now and always.  I thought I would start this thread to entice you to ask those burning questions you may have (or, perhaps you don't!) always wanted to ask of a Jew.  Please, feel free to share.  No question (other than those that are antithetical to the forum rules) will be considered too great or too small.  Many of you have asked delicious questions in other threads, but there is always room for more sharing and understanding between our people.

Now, some ideas and a joke to get the cogs in your brain turning...

    1. Are Jews followers of a religion or members of a race/ethnicity?

    2. What does the Covenant of Abraham mean to us today?

    3. What is the difference between a Synagogue and a Temple?

    4. Who was the first Jew?

    5. Why do Jews believe that Palestinians have no historical claim to land?

    6. Is the Rabbi the same as a Priest or Pastor?

    7. How can we say Mormons are Gentiles and you say that we are Gentiles? :D

    8. Is my daughter driving me crazy preparing for her Bat Mitzvah? (Uhhh...)  What is a Bat Mitzvah, anyway?

    9. What's so wrong with a bacon cheeseburger?

    10. Can animals be Jewish?

    11. Whatever other burning questions you may have!

So my mishpacha...have at it!  Don't beat me up.  Unless you want to, then it's ok I suppose.

And may the odds be ever in your favor...

Shalom.....  do you feel that a Jerusalem Third Temple needs to be constructed and in use

previous to the fulfillment of Zechariah chapter 14?

Personally......  I do.......  an a man from Uganda named Eporu Ronald Alfred has predicted that

a "Christian Political Cyrus" will come on the world stage soon and build the Jerusalem Third Temple.

As you can guess... I am wondering if that prediction could fit with Moshiach ben Ephrayim.

OK, buy why not build a temple in other places? And, can there be more than one, rather just one place in the world?

Good question...... one writer Aryeh B. Menashe has drawn up plans for a Ezekiel 40 style temple that would in fact be centered

in an Israeli national park outside Jerusalem.

The Muslim Dome of the Rock, built around the 7th century A.D., occupies the exact site of the ancient temple.  Razing that structure to build the temple would cause World War III.

But, there is a Jewish group called the Temple Institute that has prepared implements (priestly robes, tables, menorahs, etc) for use in a new temple.  You can see their website, and pictures of the implements, here.

Actually..... a powerful case can be presented that the Second Temple was probably near the Gihon Spring......

which means that there is all kinds of room on the Temple Mount for The Al Aqsa Mosque, the Dome of the Rock.....

    AND... the Jerusalem Third Temple.

It has been more than a year since this tread was last updated.  Since recently returning from Jerusalem I thought to add some understanding given to me while visiting that many do not know that much about.  As close as most Jews come to the temple is the “Western Wall”.  Part of the reason is that the Temple is sacred and so is the ground that the temple sits on.  Only priests (Levites) can enter or stand in certain sacred areas – and since the exact place of such sacred areas are not know; devout Jews are admonished not to visit any closer to the temple mount than the Western Wall.

There are two ancient ordinances that were not performed in the temple – one, which is called the “Red Heifer” sacrifice.  This is an ordinance of purification of priests for officiating in the temple.  Interestingly – this ordinance was performed at a specific place on the mount of Olives.  (It is my personal opinion that this ancient ordinance is spiritually linked to the purification right performed by Jesus during Passover just before his crucifixion).  This ordinance (Red Heifer) would be necessary before any ordinance in our day could be officially done at the temple.  It is my understanding that there is not a Jew alive today with the authority to perform the Red Heifer ordinance.  The Jews I visited and discussed this matter with; wait on G-d to send someone (like Moses) appointed with authority from G-d.  Without the authority to purify priests (Levites) the temple cannot be built nor can any of the ancient sacred ordinances be performed.

I find the idea that one that is of the house of Joseph (Ephraim?) would precede and prepare the way very interesting.

    The Traveler

Yes..... the idea of Moshiach ben Yosef / Ephrayim playing a role in the rebuilding of the Bet Ha Mikdash/ the Jerusalem Third Temple.......is intriguing indeed!

From what I understand, the temple in Jerusalem has always been very important to Jews. Why haven't they built a temple in modern times?

Am I incorrect to strongly suspect that a Jerusalem Third Temple is needed before Zechariah chapter 14 can come to pass?

  8. I have read that there are 4.3 trillion USA petro- dollars in the hands of

nations, companies and individuals not friendly to the USA and they want to devalue the USA dollar.

Israel's large scale desalination technology may hold the key to setting in motion a win - win - win - win - win

mega project that would benefit the USA, Israel, all nations with enough desert to be interested in large scale desalination......

and cities vulnerable to the threat of rising ocean levels....... such as New Orleans and Florida.

Romney would win BIGLY in Utah. I am glad someone had the guts to stand up to Trump during the election. I believe that time will tell that Romney was/is right (at least for most people, those on the far right may never see it or admit it). And it's not just because he is a Mormon. I would vote for him Mormon or not.

I read an intriguing prediction on a Facebook group back on October 16, 2012:

    Edie Reno:

"Back in August I heard in the Spirit taht Romney wasDarius. I reseached Darius a Persian king who worsipped smothered God yet funded the rebuilding of the temple o tHE living God of the Jews and maqde decrees in theiir favor...see Ezra
Also in Daniel, it is Darius the mede whose decree at first sent Daniel th lion's den. Yet he prayed all night thatDaniel live and not die.
When Danieal was delivered he thru the satraps, who'd tricked Darius into the decree.....ytheir children and wives into the den.
I am wkorking o. A crafted prayer from the decree Darius wrote upon Daniels deliverance..will post tomorrow." (Edie Reno, October 16, 2012)
  10. But I know that many Christians struggle with these accounts..... partly because they are offended that people are shown going to heaven who have not "accepted Yeshua - Jesus" in quite the same manner that they did?!?!

    Quote

"I asked how God could let the Holocaust of World War II happen. We were transported to a railway station as a long train of freight cars was being unloaded of its human cargo. The guards were screaming and beating the people into submission. The people were Jewish men, women, and children. Exhausted from hunger and thirst, they were totally disoriented from the ordeal of being rounded up and sent on a long journey to an unknown destination. They believed that they were going to work camps, and that their submission to the brutality of the guards was the only way to survive.

We went to the area where the selection process was taking place and heard the guards talking about "the Angel Maker." We went to the place the guards were referring to as "the Angel Maker," which was a series of ovens. I saw piles of naked corpses being loaded into the ovens, and I began to cry. ...."These are the people God loves." Then he said, "Look up." Rising out of the smoke of the chimneys, I saw hundreds of people being met by thousands of angels taking them up into the sky. There was great joy in the faces of the people, and there appeared to be no trace of a memory of the horrendous suffering they had just endured. How ironic that the guards sarcastically called the ovens "the Angel Maker."
    ...
I asked how God could allow this to happen. They told me that this was not God's will. This was an abomination to God. God wants this never to happen again. This was the sacrifice of an innocent people to whom God had given the law to be an example, a light, to the rest of the world. This Holocaust was breaking God's heart...."

I asked, Why does God let things like this happen? They told me that God was very unhappy with the course of human history and was going to intervene to change the world. God had watched us sink to depths of depravity and cruelty at the very time that he was giving us the instruments to make the world a godlier world. God had intervened in the world many times before, but this time God was going to change the course of human events." (Howard Storm, My Descent Into Death, page 42,43)

It seems to me that what Howard Storm Ph. D. was shown about events behind the scenes during the Holocaust......

is the kind of new wine that can bring in a massive harvest at this time.

I find your post intriguing.  However, last year I visited Israel and was amazed of the many misconceptions I have acquired from the culture I grew up and live in.  One of my opportunities was to visit an ancient winery.  There are 3 products produced at such a winery.  They are wine, best wine or new wine (I did not realize that these were the same) and the final product is bitter wine or what we call vinegar.   The process is what defines the type of wine.  In scripture we find symbolic reference to all three – especially in what we call “Passover” and reference in the suffering of Gethsemane.

Your reference that the Messiah is saving the best or new wine for the last days carries some symbolism I would question – Why best wine and not vinegar?  Do you understand the difference in producing best wine and vinegar and the troubles prophesied to take place in the “Last Days”.  Could you elaborate on your choice of symbolism? Especially why you think the process will favor or is best represented by the production of the best wine?

    Thanks

    The Traveler

I am of the belief that a massive Awakening is beginning that will be greater than what began in Acts chapter 2......

I also believe that there may be a connection with these near death experience accounts in which Christians........

or even Atheists for that matter such as Howard Storm Ph. D.... .meet Messiah Yeshua -Jesus and he reviews their lives with them.......

and sends them back on a mission.

I am wondering if the Jewish and Christian Bibles and the book of Mormon would be like old wine...... and

modern NDE accounts some what like new wine???

Because the Latter Day Saints recognize NDE accounts as being in line with II Corinthians 12:2-4 it seems to me that you are in a

position to lead in this Awakening.......

I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

You also have a massive advantage over other churches because you recognize that we truly can repent even after death.......

It seems to me that we are in a situation somewhat like the time of the Prophet Elijah.
    1Kings 18:21

And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

But what about all those non-intelligent (sweet spirits) LDS women who also produce 12 children? Granted you would have to consent that it would take a great deal of talent to care for that many children, intelligent or not.

And....  both Jews and Latter Day Saints tend to read more books.... than the average person.

I am not an L.D.S. yet myself but I am seriously impressed how so many Mormons that I have met online are exceptionally well read.

You tend to have already read.... The Book of Jasher, The book of Enoch and at least several near death experience accounts..... as well as the Book of Mormon.

Many Christians fear.... . knowing too much and becoming proud as a result........ or they read The Bible itself over and over again so often...... but personally.....

I think I totally misunderstood the Bible until I read several books about near death experience accounts and then I had to rethink my understanding of most of the Bible.

  13. I just listened to the first video..... This is extremely well done.

I remember reading many years ago about a study done on a group of people who had recently attempted suicide.......

one group was simply given near death experience accounts to read.... .Zero people from that group attempted suicide again during the

    duration of the study.

I first attended L.D. S. services back in the 1990's after reading the NDE account of Ms. Bettie J. Eadie......

There is a possibility that simply giving people evidence that life has a purpose...... can tend to reduce suicidal tendencies.

For the record.... I was close to attempting suicide myself back in 1990, (or was it 1991)?

Yes, but, for instance- I we are discussing being saved from hell it helps if we are all on the same page as to the meaning of "hell". I say this because in Wade's belief he sees "hell" as incorporation portions of heaven (lower glories) It makes things really confusing. We could both be talking about entirely different things and not realize each other's point.

    Excellent point.......

lower levels of glory... could be thought of as being something like hell..... in comparison to the higher levels of glory.

So this is a subject I have a really hard time understanding.  Mainly because I keep seeing so many conflicting opinions on the subject.

So I have always learned that this life is the time to repent and get our lives in order and on the right path.  Yet many say that after death we have the chance to repent so that we can progress.

I understand those that have never had the opportunity to learn of Jesus Christ or of the gospel.  I totally get that.  But what of those who didn't do that who did have the opportunity.  Members who chose their own path instead of following the commandments and gospel teachings and principles.

I guess I just don't get why anyone who chose NOT to repent would get another chance in the next life.  What would be the purpose of our journey and testing in this life?

I realize that this is all between the individual and God but I still get confused over the conflicting opinions.

    Good question..........

some modern Theoretical Physicist are discussing a variation on Multiverse Theory that could help us to understand Ezekiel chapter 37 better.

If...... G-d wants to replicate a moment in the past..... and then double the amount of the Holy Spirit that is poured out in that moment in time.......

then the future from that moment could be radically altered..... for example......

If G-d were to replicate a moment in 1939.... the Holocaust on the Jewish people could be largely prevented.......

The people who did not repent in the past..... did not repent partly due to the amount of the Holy Spirit that was poured out in

what we think of as the past...... but G-d can easily replicate all human beings who ever lived..... in any moment of time in which they lived.... and G-d does not even have to inform that they have received the Ezekiel 37 resurrection........

This is only one possible variation on repentance after death.

This could all fit with II Corinthians 12:2-4.

@DennisTate Here is an electronic copy of the GP manual. If you attend church, they probably have a hard copy.

    https://www.lds.org/manual/gospel-principles?lang=eng

Thank you.... yes I had found that one!

Here is another fascinating statement that I ran into in that book:

    https://www.lds.org/manual/gospel-principles/chapter-6-the-fall-of-adam-and-eve?lang=eng

    Quote

Adam and Eve were among our Father’s noblest children. In the spirit world Adam was called Michael the archangel (see D&C 27:11; Jude 1:9). He was chosen by our Heavenly Father to lead the righteous in the battle against Satan (see Revelation 12:7–9). Adam and Eve were foreordained to become our first parents. The Lord promised Adam great blessings: “I have set thee to be at the head; a multitude of nations shall come of thee, and thou art a prince over them forever” (D&C 107:55).

Our pre-existence is a critical idea to understand... .and it is great to see this dealt with so plainly and clearly.

It is a wonderful place! The Gospel Principles manual has a lot to offer in terms of learning the basics of the LDS religion. If you'd like to learn more, you can find missionaries in your region that can help walk you through those basics via lessons and answer any questions/thoughts you might have along the way!

    https://www.mormon.org/missionaries

Yes..... I met with two local elders two times already.

I attended a couple of times back in the 1990's so I already knew that the L.D.S. church

is the most accepting of modern near death experience accounts of any Christian church that I know of.

I believe it was because of the book by Ms.  Bettie J. Eadie that I decided to attend back in the 1990's.

I personally have studied NDE's a lot since 1990 and I think that they are the most likely fulfillment of

this promise that I can think of.

These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.
  18. and I am truly impressed as I have read about twenty or more chapters of Gospel Principles.

I really like the following statement for many reasons:

    https://www.lds.org/manual/gospel-principles/chapter-41-the-postmortal-spirit-world?lang=eng

    Quote

The spirits are classified according to the purity of their lives and their obedience to the will of the Lord while on earth. The righteous and the wicked are separated (see 1 Nephi 15:28–30), but the spirits may progress as they learn gospel principles and live in accordance with them. The spirits in paradise can teach the spirits in prison (see D&C 138).
