Styln- it was the phrase "many mansions" that peaked my interest when I was a non-member. Different levels of what we call Heaven...... this was a concept that no one else told me about when I was bouncing from church to church trying to find my answers.

I was told by preachers, ministers, evangelists, etc., that people like Charles Manson would still go to the same Heaven as I would..... because he professed a belief.  I didn't understand why bad people "who believed" and led a terrible sinful life - were still given a free pass to the same Heaven that good  people who followed the Commandments and teachings of Christ would be in.

I was brought up with the concept of it was either Heaven or Hell. Every church I went to told me if you believe in God and take upon you the name of Christ- you were saved (from Hell).

I like the idea that we are judged by the way we live our lives and basically earn a spot in the kingdom (level) of Heaven that corresponds with how we lived our earthly life.

From your link: https://biblehub.com/kjv/john/14.htm  2In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also

Your reference to Joh is slightly different than what is quoted in my Bible:

    King James Version
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Tongue in cheek answer:  http://www.ag.org (or http://www.paoc.org for you, my new Canadian friend).

Sincere answer:  Jesus proclaimed himself the Way, Truth and Life. He said no one comes to the Father but by Him. (John 14:6). Of the groups you mentioned,  Mennonites do not claim to be the only way to salvation. Catholics and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints both claim to be Jesus' authorized church. As you have read here, neither would exclude from heavenly reward those who came to God's salvation through other avenues. Jehovah's Witnesses claim that their organization is the faithful and wise servant of God in these last days, and more or less teach that the only way to salvation from the coming War of Armaggedon is through them. So, the bottom line is that Jesus should be central to any true salvation. Personally, my faith community is my support and spiritual coach--not my means of reaching God.

Glad you called me friend, thank you. This is what God has for all of us in the family.

*That* is a great question.  Might I suggest you take it to the ultimate source of Truth (God) and ask Him?

I have and He has revealed the Truth. I guess I am seeking the opinions of others to understand better the various beliefs around the world.

So... I took a visit over at mennoniteusa.org, and confirmed that your faith community believes in the resurrection and Kingdom of God to come. It also affirms punishment for those who reject fellowship with God, engage in unrighteousness, and who refuse his kingdom. My church (Assemblies of God) teaches much the same. If I may offer my crude understanding of the resurrection, from the perspective of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it would be thus:

    Heavenly Realms:

Celestial Kingdom: Populated by those valiant in faith. Even within this kingdom, there will be degrees of glory, with the highest attaining exaltation--becoming like God.

Terrestial Kingdom: Populated by those sincere people who were mostly righteous, and who were sincere in whatever spirituality they practiced. This realm will be glorious beyond our imagination, but, in comparison with the Celestial Kingdom will be as the moon is to the sun. Those here will experience the presence of the Son of God, but not the Father.

Telestial Kingdom: Populated by those who are mostly selfish and unresponsive to the things of God. Yet, these never became enemies of God or his church. This realm will also be wonderful, but significantly less than the Terrestial Kingdom.

Outer Darkness: Reserved for the enemies of God and his church, and those who were very intentionally unrighteous.

CHURCH MEMBERS:  Please correct any over-simplifications and misunderstandings I put above.

Thank you for your reply and moreover, your time to visit a Mennonite belief. Now I wonder who of all the many many beliefs are correct? It is so very confusing, who to believe, Mennonites, Catholics, LFDS, Evangelicals, JW's ?

We can tell you that one has to work quite hard to not make it to a degree of glory.

Which kingdom of God you will inherit is up to you, and how far you choose to advance along God's covenant path.

Your question can only be answered with another question. If you rephrased it to "Which kingdom of glory will I inherit in my fathers kingdom?" I would respond with "How much of God's truth are you willing to accept and to act upon?"

Please enlighten me, how many Kingdoms of God are there?

Please feel free to quote Biblical Scriptural references.

Pretty much.  Last time I checked, I had neither the tools, nor the skill, nor the job of figuring out who goes to heaven and who doesn't.  I don't think any human who ever walked the earth, save One, can give you a good answer.

So good it feels to be free from all human judgment, Thank you

Am I right that it would be most difficult for traditional Christians to enter the highest heavenly kingdom, but that there are also a fair number of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who will, for various reasons, also find themselves in second (Terrestial) kingdom?

No offense, but you have created a lot of discussion within this thread in which I was seeking information from the Mormon people. However, you have not participated in providing an answer to my requestr. ?  I hope you will.

Hi! I am new to  posting in forums. I am sure this topic has been discussed many time. This has been weighing heavily on me for some time. Saying no to a calling. It seems we are taught in LDS culture that it is taboo to turn a calling down or ask to be released from current calling. What are your experiences or thoughts on this matter?

I would check with the Apostle Paul, no just kidding. I assume the calling you are asking about is within your local Church congregation? If so, is your answer not found in LDS protocol?

After reading through the thread on over rated movies and participating in debates on how good certain movies are, I began to wonder. Are there any movies out there that we can all agree were/are fantastic?

Movies that may fit this are:

    Lion King

Lord of the Rings Return of the King

    Oceans 11

    Monsters Inc.

    Itallion Job

    Thor Ragnarok

What is you think? Are there other movies you can think of that may be universally loved or at least not hated by anyone?

There is no way Mormonism is moving towards Orthodoxy or any other form of Christianity. Too many theological differences separate the faiths.

The more I read on this forum, which is my only source of information to date on the  LDS, I tend to agree with your statement.

Hopefully this isn't too off topic, but that almost sounds like you don't believe in a literal resurrection, is that your belief? I'm not familiar with Mennonite belief's. Forgive me if I am mistaken about your religion, I'm on mobile and it doesn't display it next to your name like it does on a computer so I am going off of memory.

I am not going to answer what you think, what almost sounds like something, in your own thinking mind, or miscued interpretation of what I wrote, sorry friend. And I do not represent all Mennonite beliefs, sorry again. Please forgive me for not engaging your question.

I just realized that you aren't a Latter-day Saint, If my comment seemed rude I apologize. I tend to use sarcasm when I shouldn't and I forget how it can come off as.

We believe our bodies are God's temple. Our bodies are sacred, It's just a peeve of mine that many shrug off modesty standards as being all about not tempting the opposite sex when I believe it's so much more than that. Our bodies are sacred gifts from God and are to be respected. You just happened to land on something that people say that bugs me sometimes.

No offense taken to any sarcasm or intent of discourse. I am a visitor in this place. I must respect the LDS teachings and members here. Although I do not completely agree with your views, I do share the intent to be pure, Spiritually speaking of course, not in the flesh. I realize my corrupt flesh will go to the ground and that is a matter of sinful nature whereby mankind fell in the garden. However, trust & Faith in Christ, my spirit prevails in eternity, hopefully.

Why do modesty discussions always have to turn to this, it's not always about others.

Modesty is about respect for your body, it's sacred nature, and that it isn't for everyone's eyes. My that sounds like we are talking about a temple, I wonder why.

I don't know why. I have never participated in a discussion of such content.

I’m not endowed but when I am endowed I plan to take off my garments while I exercise out of respect for the garment.

What I’m wondering is this: Is it appropriate to wear short shorts and a tank top while exercising?

I live in Arizona and getting my heart rate up makes me feel too hot to bear.

Typical workout clothing is not breathable enough fabric to me.

I know this is a bit of a personal decision but I need some advice and doctrine about this topic.

When we swim we wear swimsuits that show off a lot of skin but that’s appropriate?

Is wearing short shorts and a tank top while exercising still inappropriate?

Should I err on the side of caution?

    Let me know your thoughts.

I am not the type of person who goes around quoting scripture. However, in the beginning, shortly after the fall of mankind (you are likely aware) God called out to Adam, he hid himself. He did what he could to cover his nakedness in some sort of sinful shameful state. We were all borne without clothes on our bodies. The point I am trying to make is "if you wear a modest dress or an exercise outfit, or a swimsuit, God sees you as you are" from the heart. The general public might see you from a sinful state they reside in. It's not your fault others reside in that sinful place in their heart. If they lust anything dark, it is in their heart, not yours.

    You have my Blessings

  17. Although I am not a member of the LDS, I would like to share a thought; most respectfully of course.

It is with sadness to meditate on some of the replies in this thread. As a Christina in the family of God, focusing on following the teachings of Christ's non-resistance attributes, it is unbearable to imagine myself worshipping God with a gun in hand, or sitting among fellow brothers and sister's in the faith who possess such weapons regardless of the reason.

My personal rest and peace lay with God in knowing if I am martyred, it would be at the moment of divine dedication to my Lord in heaven as were my forefathers in the Anabaptist movement.

    Respectfully
