  1. Has anyone seen "Something Rotten" ? I've only listened to the soundtrack. I really enjoy most of it.
  2. One of my favorites is less popular, Thoroughly Modern Millie. Julie Andrews, Mary Tyler Moore, Carol Channing.... Even Pat Morita.
  3. Just wait until you get the booster. You'll suddenly find a Subaru in your driveway
  4. Oh shoot! Unsubscribe, change my name, burn my fingerprints off......
  5. The best musical of all time!
  6. The Into the Woods movie was my first exposure to it. I don't think I'd ever even heard the music before. I enjoyed it.
  7. So, interesting story. A few years ago, Kristen Chenowith had a tour and performed New Year's Eve show in Vegas. My wife was working (one holiday shift in Q4) so I went with some of my in-laws. I guess she had a team that would pick someone out of the audience to perform Defying Gravity with her on stage. They brought a guy out and said it's the first time they'd ever chosen a male for this. He did a fantastic job. He did seem to fit the stereotypical profile of a gay man.
  8. I enjoy the music and the play. It was the first live musical I went to. (I'm kind of a noob when it comes to musicals ) But there will always be a little bad taste in my mouth because I read the book before ever hearing the music or seeing the play. The book had some graphic scenes that I don't care to elaborate on other than to say I'll never read anything by that author again. It took some serious convincing from friends to see the play.

  10. I can understand the criticism. I struggle with listening to most country music, really just prejudices carried over from my youth. If there was a country musical (is there one?) I'd have no interest in it, regardless of how popular it was. Hamilton does have a lot fun word play. The first that comes to mind is the bit where Hamilton first approaches Burr (sir) and admits to punching the Bursar.
  11. I listened to the Hamilton soundtrack quite a few times after it came out. (I really liked hip-hop in the 90's which definitely influenced me on my taste for Hamilton.) I like the music and the lyrics a lot. To me, it is a different form of poetry. I've seen the show live, and I really enjoyed it. I haven't watched it on Disney +, mostly because when I do have time to myself to watch a show, I'm trying to catch up on MCU shows (wow, WandaVision, F&WS, and Loki....wow)
  12. Talk about casting celebrities over singers....smh.
  13. I don't watch musicals very often, so I don't have very strong opinions on most. (Although I'm a huge White Christmas fan) Usually I just listen to the soundtracks at work.
  14. Mama Mia....Mama Mia.....Mama Mia.....anyone?
  15. You still have agency to ignore the mandates.
  16. I'm sure some on the forum ( @Carborendum definitely, right?) are familiar with Brandon Sanderson's books. He write fantasy/sci-fi novels. (Excellent books, btw). Part of his magic systems depends on an individual's Identity (https://coppermind.net/wiki/Identity) If a person sees something like hearing impairment, autism, missing a limb, etc. as part of their Identity, they can't be 'healed' of it. Rysn's character in the Stormlight Archive series (https://coppermind.net/wiki/Rysn_Ftori) is a great example of someone who's 'ailment' can't be magically healed. It's not presented in a light that one way is right or wrong. It's an individual thing and I think it's really well presented. I think these ideas apply in this discussion. Some hearing impaired or deaf people see it as part of their identity and don't think they need solutions. Others do. There's no one-size-fits-all application.
  17. Sounds like they made the decision to follow the prophet and took responsibility to limit their exposure and chance of spreading the virus. From the handbook, I read it to mean, "get vaccinated, but if you have (valid) concerns, do your due diligence. " (I'm not nearly as eloquent as JJ)
  18. I do agree with this. I'm all for a lot of protections, but I would love schools to stay in-person and mask-free.
  19. My mother-in-law works as a registrar at a middle school. She's had members of the church claim the religious exemption for their children. In her job, she accepts it, documents it, and moves on (usually with an 🙄). If you need a leader's signature, that's a different story. I'm sure there are some bishops who'd be happy to sign that and others that never would.
  20. You had specifically mentioned mental illness. I don't see anything in that form about that. The only risks I see mentioned are "chocking, suffocation, or strangulation." I did a quick Google search for "have any children choked on face mask" and the things that come up was a story about a face mask that somehow made it into a chicken mcnugget.
  21. Can you expound on that? What risks are increased by wearing a mask?
  22. (I love that you call him Jaws )
  23. Ugh, clerks' offices do tend to collect clutter that no one knows what to do with. Good work getting it tidied up! You could give the wooden boxes to the YW/YM/primary presidents to use for the new necklaces and rings. List the rest on eBay and put the $0.25 raised in a local missionary's account
  24. How many conference talks have there been about trials leading to growth? It seems there are three or four every session that at least mention it. While broken backs are incredibly terrible, if that is what it takes for me or my kids to become the type of people we need to be to, who am I to pray against it? I'm struggling to express my thoughts on this. JAG, I don't mean to sound critical. Just what I've been learning the last few years, is to include a lot more "Thy will be done" in my prayers.
