Maybe because they believe in Ex Nihilo creation, so it's not a problem.

As a visual aid, I share my beard trimmings. Not exactly a chalice here, but you get the idea.

Backroads, this is 2021. Many, many, many woman enjoy sports, video games and other “‘masculine” activities, and thank God for it. I thank God daily that I born when I was, because “masculine” activities like camping, cars, etc hold no interest to me.

Hypothetically, this young man may have served a mission, returned to go to school at BYU, met a young woman there, married her when they were both 22, and made his daddy a grandpa by producing a now-two-year-old daughter and another due in January. Funny how things change. Hypothetically, I mean.

My dad is a legislator in NV.  He sometimes seeks counsel from the Church on issues.  When NV was looking to legalize MJ, he likes to sum up the guidance he got as "Don't smoke it"

Sounds like the start of another tradition:

    General Authority visits a ward.
    *Looks at congregation.*

    *Looks at chalice.*

    *Looks back at congregation.*

Whispers to bishop “It’s the rule going forward that the highest ranking authority in attendance takes the sacrament first…”

Yeah, my thoughts as well. Maybe this “no facial hair unwritten rule” is a good thing!!!!

I found the section on Changes to the Sacrament very interesting!  It seems like before the 1898 it was only priests and Melchizedek priesthood holders preparing and passing the sacrament.  And when deacons and teachers first were included, there was some reluctance
Given that there isn't any scriptural references, I could see a time where the passing and/or preparing is opened up to others, similarly to how witnesses of baptisms was.

    1. My daughter passed the sacrament to me the other week.
    2. You think sisters passing the sacrament is bad, I once was in a ward with a female Finance Clerk.  I was assistant clerk, and we'd drive over to her house to do all the bookkeeping (because nobody knew how to use the newfangled computer).  Her husband would sit in the living room drinking his beer and making sarcastic remarks.  Good times!
    3. Joseph Fielding Smith warned us strongly against putting too much ritual into the Sacrament:

I remember reading some church history material from about the 1920's or 30's that indicated that it was at that time the responsibility of the Young Women to prepare the sacrament table. The same material did not include any references to the Young Women being involved in the blessing or passing of the sacrament. Unfortunately, I have no idea what or where those sources are.

I have never understood the visceral hatred for Nickelback. I admit I have not listened to their music much, but one popular song was called Photograph, and I thought it was okay.
Sometimes I think some bands are hated just because hating that band becomes a popular meme, and people like to show their sophistication by perpetuating the meme. I think this principle applies pretty widely and to many different types of individuals, groups, and things.
EDIT: For the record, I meant "meme" in its original sense, not in the sense of "a photograph with a snarky caption that gets posted around the internet." I was not referencing LDSGator at all, just making a general observation.

I actually agree with you, but I also understand how people get to that conclusion. After all, it’s heartbreaking to think people you like won’t share eternity with you. So while I might agree with you intellectually (see everyone? @Vort and I agree on something, at least in part) I also see their side as well.

Handbook section 18.9.2 doesn’t seem to contemplate non-priesthood-holders passing the sacrament.  The lawyer in me likes to ask questions like “well, when we are in the center pew and the tray has gone down through all eight members of my family and there’s an eight-foot gap between my 10-year-old-son and Brother Johnson sitting all alone on the far end of the pew, does that mean my son can’t walk the tray down to Brother Johnson?  He has to pass it back through all of our family to the deacon who gave us the tray, and then that deacon has to walk to the other end of the pew where Brother Johnson is?  What’s the difference between passing the sacrament tray, and Passing the Sacrament?  And where in scripture is it written that deacons are responsible for Passing the Sacrament in the first place?”
I think that as a church, we could hypothetically get to a point where Passing the Sacrament is seen as something that can be done by non-priesthood-holders.  But for the time being, it seems like the intent of the current (and historical) Church leadership has been that it be considered an exclusive duty of the priesthood.

On a more serious note, my wife hates the endless cycle that laundry can become so she likes to do laundry once a week.  Sunday nights we gather in the TV room with all the laundry and separate it while watching something.  (She then spends Mondays processing all the laundry and Monday night we fold while listening to a Conference talk) We recently finished Dwight in Shining Armor on BYUTV.  We're trying out other shows on there now.  Nothing really seems as good yet.  I really like this tradition.  It gets the kids involved in the chore, we're together as a family, watching something we can talk about later and share jokes.

Yep.  And, they would grab onto any newcomer and pepper them with private messages asking them to arrange phone meetings where they could teach the gospel.  And they did the same thing to anyone expressing a struggle or problem or issue.  Keep in mind it was a pilot test program - the church was in it's early years of trying to figure out how to more effectively use the internet, and this was one of the things they tried.  So the missionaries showed up to do their "2 hours a week online proselytizing", as directed by their mission presidents, and they crashed head-on into some of our rules:

The missionaries would make post after post with no content other than posting their personal info and asking people to contact them.

This site rule basically killed that test program, which relied on the missionaries using this forum to generate contacts to whom they could connect personally and give the lessons.

So this particular test program was doomed to fail here, but the attitude the missionaries copped just made it impossible.

In related news, yesterday, our ward missionaries worked with me to get our ward's zoom link to some investigators, and I got information back to them on who attended.  That's much better internet savvy.
