  1. Its easy to grow up "striving to sacrifice" when you were born in the church and the support is all around you, coming from all of your family. But what about those who leave their long religious family traditions in a rural town that doesn't really like members of the church, loses most contact with their relatives and friends, become a lonely person, and is frequently bullied because of his faith. Cause i went through all of that and worse sir. I am a pionner. i can guarantee to you that my faith is much greater than many of these so called more advanced spiritually girls than i. And the lord above knows that. Unfortunately, this culture of serving a mission is blinding the girls eye's so they can't see beyond this very good service. I didn't serve because i dont want to go out there and get skin cancer in 3 months due to my condition, i would die and would not have fulfilled my purpose on this earth which is to get sealed. This is almost suicide, but if i survive this, how will i be a good provider for my family without a good education that i couldn't have paid without my parents that didn't allow me to serve ?
  2. Guess il just try it out as a last attempt. If it does not happen in a place such as a church school, it wouldn't probably happen anywhere else. So if it fails, would be wise to start dating some girls from outside of the church and try to drag them in. Thats the best strategy in the worst scenario, at least i would have paid a low tuition for a good master.
  3. Not a US citizen. But i do have permament residency of the french speaking part of your friend up north.
  4. Im thinking about opening a instagram account and posting pictures of volunteer work there. Your text made me give this some more thought.
  5. I've tried. The answer was most of the time of an astonishing ignorance such as " RM or Bust". It seems like my only last hope to marry a girl from the church is to go to one of the church schools where there is aglomeration of people dating. But i'm afraid i might not find the girl, so i would have spent time and money for nothing
  6. I wonder when serving a mission became so important that automatically makes someone who didn't serve one be a forever unworthy member. Because i looked it up on the internet and several apostles and prophets didn't serve. Would these girls not date the prophet nelson ?
  7. Would it be worth to go to BYU idaho just to get married ? I say just to get married because another bachelor's for me would be almost useless. I have seen more people marry at BYU i than in provo but the quality of education is much lower, i dont know if it would be worth the risk. And girls around those idaho towns really look more pretty, some of those probably came from nordic and celtic countries haha
  8. Not serving a mission makes me not righteous ? Sometimes people tell me these things like i'll be damned forever for that. I still didn't serve because i was not born in the church, my parents screamed at me when i mentioned it, and they wont pay for that, and i fully depend on them. I also have vitiligo (condition that makes the skin extremely sensible to the sun rays) and asperger( though it has been treated with lots of therapy, so im totally normal normal). I was advised by some members that i should just get married because time is going on and although the majority of people puts more importance to a mission than a marriage (its what it seems), i have been always told and i have read in the church literacy that the marriage is truly what matters in this life towards exaltation. Are girls in the church really not looking at other qualities other than serving a mission ? Because sometimes i think thats the reason i cant find girls in stakes and institute. I have so many qualities like, i do speak 4 languages fluently, i finished two bachelor's at the same time and i could go on to my masters in much better universities than BYU if i wanted. But i was always told that i should go there because there might be better chances. I am extremely gentle, never scream, always treat girls like queens, but whenever they hear i didn't serve a mission, i suddenly become a sir worthless.
  9. @JohnsonJones would you mind telling me your experience of how you met Christ ? It can be on private. I believe in you and i am really interested.
  10. But i had experiencies in my childhood that made me be sure that there is evil beings surrounding us and there is more after death, and of that i am certain. But that doesn't make the story of jesus true nor proves the existence of the christian God. The only thing that got me the closest of finding out if the story of christ is true, was on the ocasion of when i got my patriarchal blessing, i am usually pretty cold, but on that day on a specifical time inside the car in a moment where i wasn't even thinking about church stuff, i began feeling the urge to cry, it felt quite like if my spirit was somehow emotioned with it all. It was indeed not a normal thing, i was not controlling my emotions and for some minutes i didn't even know the reason i was crying.
  11. During the course of my life i have acquired the testimony that, if the story of jesus of nazareth is true, then this church is really the place to be. Now, my struggle is to know if his story is really true, if he really existed and the christian God is there.
  12. Kind of glad you said it was a male. I first saw the picture and was about to say "pretty" when i finished reading your text. This world has been insane lately.
  13. When i became LDS i thought vozes mormons was related to the church. But that's what they do, they strive to mislead people that are researching the church. Their content is biased. And the bible videos series is often shared around families whatsapp group here south. It would be helpful, if These videos contained more information about where's coming from. Like the new logo of the church. That would be a dream of mine hahahah my relateds will always be saying to me, "i believe thats from your mormons church, right kid ?"
  14. The catholic culture is so diversified in the world that i really doubt that most people even know about that in rome itself
  15. This is just a tradition developed in some other countries. I learned the same as a boy, you dont ever eat meat in fridays during a period of time that lasts 40 days ending on easter.
  16. Seems like it is, but it actually doesnt. The only required financial sacrifice is the tithing. The others are purely donations. Like fasting offerings and missionary funds etc. Also, if you go on a mission yourself, you have to pay that out of your pocket.
  17. Girls from utah and rexburg are really pretty. To me, they resemble nordic girls. That is much more impressive in rexburg, it seems like all girls came straight outta sweden.
  18. I have to confess i thought these stats were a little higher than the presented. I wonder what would be the marriage stats upon graduation in BYU idaho. A lot of friends of mine easily married in less than a year there.
  19. But a question for those who have attended BYU, the dating is real ? what are the chances of really getting married ? Because thats one major pro of who going to the Y. Though i know its pretty easy to get married in BYU Idaho. Most get out with a family.
  20. Just want to know the thoughts of the brethren on this. I ve been involved in such discussions and we decided it was mostly because it's easier to get married at the Y. What y'all think ?
  21. Sometimes i think that the spreading of this nickname might have something to do with the enemy. Because I know firsthand that this did not contribute with anything. What the prophet did was crucial, both adding the visual simbol and prohibiting the use of the nickname.
  22. I am a convert so i can say something about this. I too, as a kid, never thought the "mormons" were christians, because they didn't have anything related to christ, They never corrected anyone calling them mormons and lots of people in my area barely knew how to read at that time, so they couldnt know what was written in the name tag. So the rumors around the Brazilian rural area where i lived were that they had a god named José smith and another one alive called gordon B hinckley. Now, Most of you are utah people born in the covenant, so you havent had the opportunity to see how valuable these changes being made by pres nelson are. Members in that same area where i live began to correct others wherever and whenever they were called mormons. Those who have been corrected have started to call the members SUD (LDS) The church is know becoming more and more connected culturally to christ in that area. And now that the christus image is going to be added to our every simbol, that is going to be awesome. My brethren, i am trully excited. My people will always see christ in the nametag and in our chapels now. the addition of the christus as a visual simbol is really really valuable. I really hope they add that to our temples and chapels and everything related to the church as soon as possible. This prophet is extremely inspired.
