TheTanakas got a reaction from dprh in Second Anointing
The only mention I found was in an institute manual
In chapter 19 (Eternal Life), it begins with
Caution: Exercise caution while discussing the doctrine of having our calling and election made
sure. Avoid speculation. Use only the sources given here and in the student manual. Do not attempt
in any way to discuss or answer questions about the second anointing.

Sure, Pete. To clear this up, you need to learn to read critically. If you do not learn to read critically, you will require handholding to interpret practically every verse of scripture you ever read.
Hope that clears things up for you.

    Gale,
How is it that you mess up understanding the clearly written word so badly, and yet claim that all you have to do is read without any other help in order to understand?
My 8 year old was able to read this without anyone having to explain it to him.  And he understood it.  Do you really expect us to believe that you don't understand what is clearly written?  Do you really expect us to believe that you're earnestly seeking the truth? Or are you instead earnestly seeking to purposefully misread things and feign confusion?
None of this is confusing to anyone else, including my 8 year old.  But you are injecting confusion where there was none.  Who brings confusion to a discussion?  The Lord?  Or Satan?  Whom do you serve when you're injecting confusion where there was none before?

If we do away with some of the grammar and other items (some of which were added after translation) it would seem to read more like
And it came to pass there was not one soul except it were little children but who had entered into the covenant.
    The wording is confusing.
If we re-arrange it so it is less confusing (as the but is a clarifying item)...
And it came to pass that every soul (not one and but cancel each other out you could say) except it were little children had entered into the covenant.
The inclusion of the words not and but make the reading of it confusing as they cancel each other out.  If we simply take them out it would read as I wrote above
And it came to pass everyone, except little children, entered into the covenant.
So, in essence, only the little children (probably those under the age of 8 I imagine, but that's only conjecture) did not enter into the covenant (probably baptism?).  Everyone else listening seemed to have entered it, or it is indicated they did.

I think what @Carborendum is getting at is to what end is a person saved, what is the final result of salvation. Is it floating on a cloud playing a harp, is it living in a garden of Eden setting forever happy and content or is it something more? This is one of the major disconnects when LDS and other Christians speak about this subject because we are often speaking about different things.

I interpret it in the following way.
I'm grateful that I could help you understand it better.

You need to read the whole sentence. It means that God has given us Jesus Christ.

Emmanuel explained it.  Let me re-format it for you.
    Does that help?
BTW, I've looked over some of your past threads.  It is considered good manners to come back and give a "Thank you" reaction or respond with a thank you or short post or something just to let those who responded know that you got it and it was helpful or if you're still puzzled.
Or else, why bother answering you?

They've already pre-recorded all of the music.
So for conference the actual choir members will be probably located on their individual couches, with plenty of social distance between them  .

I heard of this line of reasoning before.  I informed my evolutionist buddy (who believes in
the Big Bang) that I could no more believe in that explosion causing all life to appear than I
could believe a tornado blowing through a junk yard could produce a 747 airplane.  Another
expression I heard - if humans came from monkeys and apes, why do we still have monkeys
    and apes?  🙂

That depends. If the Garden of Eden is not a literal place, then it would seem the Fall was not a literal event and
thus the plan of salvation is not literal either.  I never heard of the concept of the Garden of Eden being symbolic
    of our pre-existence.

I find it interesting in light of Church teaching (modern revelation) we still have people thinking the garden of Eden wasn't a distinct place (only symbolic), "Latter-day revelation confirms the biblical account of the Garden of Eden and adds the important information that it was located on what is now the North American continent." (emphasis mine)
President Benson (as President of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles), "America is a place of many great events. Here is where Adam dwelt, where the Garden of Eden was located. America was the place of former civilizations, including Adam’s, the Jaredites’, and Nephites’. America is also the place where God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to Joseph Smith, inaugurating the last gospel dispensation on earth before the Savior’s second coming." (emphasis mine)

TheTanakas reacted to Vort in Lehi's dream and today's Sunday School lesson
The word "fountain" just means a source or spring from which water comes out of the ground, not some ornate cascade of water spraying up dramatically. The filthy river and its source (fountain) represent hell and its depths (1 Nephi 12:16). This is in contrast to Christ, who is the fountain of all life, and who in this vision is represented by the tree. Lehi may have assumed later that the water he saw represented Christ as well, though Nephi informs his brothers that the waters represented filthiness, which their father missed. Note that the angel who instructed Nephi told him that the tree of life was the very fountain of living waters, "which waters are a representation of the love of God". So Nephi's understanding of his father's dream, based on his (Nephi's) own angelic encounter and explanation, was that the river of water was filthy, representing hell and the destruction of those who do not depend upon Christ.
Here's another, closely related but slightly different, viewpoint. Nephi saw a portion of Lehi's dream along with his own vision from the angelic visitation. It's possible that Lehi actually saw two distinct sources of water, one by the tree of life and another of filthy water, and that Nephi didn't pick up on the distinction. Note that 1 Nephi 8:13 speaks of a river by the tree of life, one along which the rod of iron (word of God—another representation of Christ) runs. Together with the above-mentioned angelic teaching of the fountain of living waters being a representation of God's love (i.e. of Christ), I find it possible—not a sure thing by any means but not unlikely—that Lehi may have seen two different sources (fountains) of water, one by the tree representing Christ and the other of filthy water representing hell and its depths. Thus the water would have represented either the salvation of God or the destruction of Satan, depending on whether it was pure or filthy.
As for the Cumorah description, Lehi's vision doesn't have anything to do with the description of the land of Cumorah. There is no connection between the two scriptures.

My family and I were in the Shino religion.  Last year, we had several missionaries from this church
and Jehovah's Witnesses talk about their faith and we were shown from the Bible and Book of Mormon
that Jesus was not Michael the Archangel.  We attended a few Sunday meetings and felt it was a
good place to learn more about the Christian faith. Then we were asked to be baptized.
Now we try to follow a routine like the Come Follow Me outlines on a weekly/monthly basis.
