LDSGator reacted to JohnsonJones in Likely daguerreotype (photo) of Joseph Smith discovered.
I'm only an amateur Church Historian, but count me among those not convinced.  We actually have several drawings of Joseph Smith from contemporaries of his.  Most are consistent with what we see with his Death Mask (though, ironically there have been those that have conjectured that we got the Death Masks for Hyrum and Joseph Switched...which is what I am betting those who are pushing this as Joseph's daguerrotype may eventually fall back onto as well).  This daguerrotype doesn't really match the other presentations of Joseph, and even if we accept the switched death mask theory, it really doesn't resemble Hyrum that strongly either.
    That said
If anyone, this has more of a resemblance to Hyrum, but I think @Just_A_Guy has the strongest argument of which I've seen, this looks like a relative of the lady and the picture he posted of her more than it does for an extended connection to Joseph or Hyrum.
It doesn't match the other images of Hyrum or Joseph that we have, albeit most being more hand drawn sketches and such rather than intricate paintings of drawings.

I’ve never hunted in my life, and I don’t know anyone who does, so I apologize for the ignorance of this question-One animal allowed your family to eat for six months? Just very surprised.

Oh no, just "occasional cooking".  You get maybe 80 lbs of meat from an antelope.  Maybe 2 lbs for a family of 4, and that makes 20 family meals, give or take.   We maybe had it weekly, so that's ~5-ish months.
I turned lots of breakfast and italian sausage!  Breakfast burrito scrambles - Yum!

So, this happened. Very proud Gator fan right now.

This is why I love college sports. Both fanbases walked away with more respect for one another after the game. On a personal note, two great charities also benefited.

Herrbal tea is kind of a misnomer.  Instead, herbal tea is an infusion or blend of various leaves, fruits, bark, roots, or flowers belonging to almost any edible, non-tea plant.  As long as it isn't coming from back or green tea leaves you should be just fine.

    No argument there.

Georgia looked unstoppable against Oregon. I think towards the end Oregon was just glad to get out of there alive!

Yes, Georgia killed Oregon.  The Florida/Utah game was FAR MORE exciting.

Congrats, Gator. As a decided Utah non-fan, I found myself pulling for Cam Rising and the Utes on that last drive. That would have been epic. Sooooo close...

I know a bit about living a mixed faith marriage. My advice would be to very carefully measure your relationship with the church and her relationship with Christianity. You have said that her relationship is 100% against broader Christianity, what is that going to mean for her "relationship" with the church? You have not said anything about your relationship with the church.
Mixed faith relationships can work, but they will require more effort than relationships with a shared faith -- especially when one of those faiths is a high demand religion like the LDS church. You will need to be prepared for some of your beliefs, desires, and practices to clash with her beliefs, desires, and practices. She will need to be prepared for the same thing. Some of those clashes will not be easy to reconcile. If you are familiar with the work of David Schnarch, you will need to be "differentiated" so that you can easily face her invalidation of your beliefs. Likewise, she will need the emotional maturity to handle when your beliefs invalidate her beliefs. It can be very difficult.
And, looking towards a family, children make it doubly difficult, as you must negotiate what to teach children about your own faith and Christianity in general, while respecting her being 100% against anything that looks Christian.
Things that I see that help make mixed faith marriages work
Mutual respect. Even if you disagree about many things, you have to be able to respect each other. If you are forever going to see her as something less than because she's not Christian, or if she is going to forever think you are something less than because you are Christian, it won't work very well.
You need to find shared values. Hard work, generosity, loyalty, kindness, or whatever, but you need to be able to identify things you both value so you are not constantly and forever wrangling with differences.
You've already been together for 2 years, so you already know something about each other. Making it a lifelong commitment, I expect, will change certain dynamics. Adding children to the mix will further change dynamics. I would suggest you explore with her what those new dynamics might look like before making those commitments.

My most valuable collectibles come nowhere near that.  I have some MTG cards that are valuable, including an Unlimited Edition Mox Pearl ($2500-2800) and a Legends Edition The Abyss ($900.)

I once had a Nolan Ryan rookie card.  It makes me sick to think I threw it in the garbage when I got rid of all my baseball cards and comic books around 1980.

I'll donate to a charity, but probably not join in on the bet.  I'll donate to the Wounded Warrior Project in either case...that way I'm not in on the betting and a charity benefits.
